    I have had several Snappers over the years and one of the things I liked about them was the ease of working on them when necessary. They really are little workhorses and do stand up to some pretty severe abuse by some of us. I have mowed my yard, down around the pond, my ditches out front, my pasture, and in my animal habitat that is around my acreage. They were great little mowers.

    • @andyelkins883
      @andyelkins883 2 года назад

      same here the one thing i absolutely love about this mower is how insanely easy they are to work on alot of the newer fancy lawn tractors you gotta do more like changing the oil filter and timing the blades on some tractors

    Nice tractor I’ve always wanted one of these snappers They’re super cool looking

    • @Ellenslife851
      @Ellenslife851 3 года назад +2

      MONSTER ENERGYDRINKS All these older Tractor’s like these and some of the really early ones from the 60s are so basic to work on I totally agree easy to fix and repair easy to maintain doesn’t take much to blow them apart to repaint them if you need to do cosmetic work to them which is a recommendation I always give because it makes the machine last longer that way

    • @Ellenslife851
      @Ellenslife851 3 года назад +2

      MONSTER ENERGYDRINKS The only downside was one like this is the tanks so small that it only holds so much they could’ve made a slightly bigger tank with this Tractor but you have to keep in mind that they were trying to make a compact tractor that was lighter weight and easier to move and easier for storage

    Good video on the Snapper, I like to do the same type of DIY work on these old riders and push mowers myself. Even though the selling market is trying to make the average home owner go electric on mowers, in my area, gas powered is still the way to go and will be for quite some time. With that said, I love trying to find these older riders on the cheap that someone else has given up on, make it run as designed, and then sell it for a profit :-)

      Sounds like you have a model 3, they usually had a 12hp and a 30 inch deck. Were made in the mid to late 70s. I have one I'm restoring after using it every summer for 5 years. I got it it had sat in the weeds for 15 years. A new seat, belt, idler, muffler and brake /clutch cable and it ran fine. I'm making mine like new. Nice thing about these is parts are plentiful and cheap. Jack's small engines online has a lot of parts for these

    Just a suggestion: get yourself a lapidary stone polishing rotating drum machine. Put your polish medium in and toss in bearings, bolts, etc. that you want to clean/polish. Save you time and possible damage to parts by hand cleaning.

    29:03 for the flywheel nut /recoil starter, use universal German torque spec, gudentite. Lol. But seriously, torque spec for L-head engines varies between 45 to 65 ft/lbs. A 130,000 series is 55 ft/lb.

It was running for about a month then stopped working so i decided to see if i got fix it and it worked but after like 2 months it stopped working again and i tried to fix it again, i figured out the no gas was going to the engine and so i cleaned the carb like 4 times and it still wont work so i gave up after all that hard work and gave it to someone who has more knowledge than me and can fix it or recycle it. Btw i am 15 so im but that smart on fixing engines yet

    You need to put some grease on the starter spreang

  • @jarreddinkel5648
    @jarreddinkel5648 3 года назад +2

    You need to lub the spring rap the rope two more times and the screen is wrong for that setup.

  • @lomgshorts3
    @lomgshorts3 3 года назад +2

    Disconnect battery before charging. Change oil before starting (and filter, if there is one). Use bottoming tap to clean threads. Replace rope on hand starter so it won't rot any further.Silicone or lithium spray for the starter because the gears and seals are plastic. WD-40 will evaporate or deform plastics.The cosmetics of a piece of power equipment really sells the equipment, and you will get more money if they do not see any rust. It doesn' t take long to pretty a lawnmower up for the time you spent fixing it - you had it apart anyway!

      get rid of it. it's a worthless piece of junk. that's why Snapper discontinued that model 2 years ago and expanded their line of electric mowers. You're just going to have to switch to electric like everybody else. County by county and state by state, the Democrats are BANNING gas powered mowers. After Democrats win the upcoming congressional elections, they'll be BANNED in the entire country so you better prepare for it now.
