Man that’s so true. When grown ass adults take their baseball swing seriously at like 30 and work for an insurance company. They are the dude that has his softball solo photo hanging in his cubicle and a woman comfortably in the 200s waiting for him at home. And by home I mean his wife’s grandmas garden apartment cause he spends all their family money on new mitts and softball bats. When the neighbors wave at him while mowing the lawn and playing with their kids, he waves back while takes his 250 daily swings. When his wife wants him to take her and the kids to Applebee’s for dinner, he tells her that he can’t cause he has to do crow hop drills to work on his game. Cause last season he batted 7th on his rec league team, but this year they will move him to at least 5th when they see the progress that his 32 year old body has made to his craft. His best friend offered him a chance to buy into a sound investment to solidify his family’s future, but he declined cause he’s spending $2500 on a plane ticket to Orlando for Softball camp cause this is the last year he has to play RF, his sights are on Short Center. The following season, all his dreams came true. He started almost every game, where he batted 6 out the gate and made it to 4th for 5 games when Murphy and Gomez both got Mono. The team finished 3rd that year and he even got a plastic trophy and a most improved player ribbon. As he planned for another off season of intense training with eyes on a Regional #247 Rec League championship, his wife, who lost 84 lbs doing SoulCycle while he practiced, met a “friend” one night as she drank a cucumber martini alone at the AppleBar. She filed for divorce and took the kids and moved in with “Brett” who didn’t even make the HS team, but was good at investing and finding women’s clitoris’. His kids now call him by his first name and cry when their mom makes them visit. He lost most of his hair while wearing his team SB hat year round, pressing down on his hairline. His BF who offered the investment, cashed heavy, but nicely was a good friend and allowed him to move into his attic. When SB season came back around, Martinez brought his little cousin who just turned 21 to join the team, who was not only awesome at SB, but much cooler to hang out with so they stopped telling this poor soul when the games were and eventually someone drunkenly told him they didn’t want him to play on the team anymore. With all his new free time, he decided to sign up for a Match.com to get back out there. After 3 months where the only messages he got were from Chinese women attempting to scam him, by the 3rd time he fell for it and sent them $1000 for plane ticket to come be with him, just to never respond again, this poor soul killed himself. Fin.
