This is helping me so much.. I used to work on older model cars in the 90s.. But these new cars are intimidating.. Everything is so compact and modern that I'm never sure if its still basic.. My alternator went out last night and I've been in freak out mode.. Don't have a lot of money and your vid is saving my ass.. Thank you
Hello there! I hope the change out went well for you. I am not mechanically savvy yet. Could you advise for the belt part. I could not see how he did it. Thanks!!!
Thanks for the video, my 2015 Kia Forte SX 1.6l has had a lot of issues in the past few months and I used this video last Friday to switch out my bad alternator. Thank You!

The secret to getting the belt back on easily is to take it off the water pump (large smooth pulley) and slide it over using a breaker bar or pry bar to ease it over that instead of trying to force it over the alternator pulley. It’s much easier to get it on the smooth surface than over the grooves on the alt. Pulley. Good luck and God Bless!
Tips: it's nearly impossible to remove the alternator by rocking the alternator back and forth ( I did it for 20 minutes with no luck) Then I place a large flat head screwdriver underneath the alternator, and pry it up ( this is the only way I got it out) hope this will help someone.
Rocking it back and forth will never work. Rocking it back and forth while yanking the hell out of it did for me. I was picking the car up with how much i was pulling. The back and forth just helps unstick it
Thank you for your video..I was able to get bolts out and plugs unplugged, pushed alternator back to give slack to serpentine belt, but there isn't enough slack to remove belt. Should I do something else, please???
Ever see the pulley shaft walk out a good inch? Tossed the belt and I hope that it didn't cause any long term effects but it did overheat and burp out the coolant in the overflow bottle..I HOPE.
Thank you for the video. I am just a beginner in the engine fixing world. Your video is so helpful! I am nervous about the belt- I couldn’t quite see how to pull it off- is it basically a slip over on both ends? Thank you
Yeah, you loosely put the belt over the same wheels that it came off of and then it will have a bolt hold that lines up with a slot somewhere that you will tension until the belt is tight and then tighten the bolt in place. I haven't done a KIA yet but probably doing one this weekend for a friend's car but pretty much every alternator you put the belt on loose and then tension it
After he places the belt back in and that top bracket thing he shows you the bolt that you'll use to tension it at 6:38 and where you put it. Once it's in place just turn that bolt until the belt is tight (not.tight where it will snap but about as tight as the one you first took off)
hey how do I fix the battery issue on a kia soul it has the red light with negative and plus for battery on dashboard its with a new alternator and a new battery is the battery the issue or the alternator
If it's a new battery and alternator I'd test everything in the fusebox. You can take the battery down to a parts store and most of them will charge it and test it for free to pet you rule out the battery, if the car can start and drive autozone and O'Reilly will test the alternator and read error codes for free also. If it won't start and all the fuses are good check the starter

Warning - it's nearly impossible to get the belt back over the pulley of the new alternator because there is so little slack. Every kia soul alternator replacement video features an edit at the part where they slip the belt back on.
The serpentine belt needs to to around the alternater after you feed it around the the crank and air compressor. Slip the serpentine belt slack around the water pump. It took me about two and a half hours to figure this out lol. I used a wrench to slip the slack from the serpentine belt around the water pump.
You need to seat the long bolt on the bottom snug into the little channel that's cut away for it. Sometimes you need to press this little washer looking thing back into the side with the nut on it. I was able to just shove on it pretty good and hit it with a soft-blow hammer to seat it right. After seating it properly, everything slipped right over no problem. And tension the belt before completely tightening the bottom bolt

How much did you pay for your alternator?
Thank you for this. It’s exactly what I need without a lot of extra time wasting material.
Thanks!

Thank you very much for this video. I'm bout to change the alternator on a friend's KIA and this looks like it's not too terrible of a job!

I use a old serpentine belt and just kept pulling it up now up down up down
Thank you I kept buying battery after battery took it to Kia twice they didn't even fix the issue the tow guy told me it's the alternator
I need to replace the voltage regulator on my 2019 Rio and its the same setup as this one. What kind is best for this?
Thank you for your video..I was able to get bolts out and plugs unplugged, pushed alternator back to give slack to serpentine belt, but there isn't enough slack to remove belt. Should I do something else, please???
You’re the man!

Take pictures of the belt before you start.... Also there is usually a little sticker picture of belt routing near the front or up above
Great video! Nice and simple ty

When Putting it back. step one doesn't allow me to have the bolt fit in the slot. Any Advice?
1. You have to start from the top.
2. He has a second video explaining this process of put in the belt on
Jaki model regulatora napięcia?

I can already tell I am going to hate my life while doing this. Still not as bad as my Saturn SL.
