Description: "Was right behind a BIG stack on Great Western Highway at Mt Druitt today. The right turn bay into Bunnings had started backing up onto the through lanes. The driver of the blue car changed lanes at the last minute and clipped a car in the lane next to it. It then rode up on the side of a car stopped in the right lane and flipped over. Only a few cuts and bruises from all involved, fortunately. "
what's nice about this is that the dude who didn't check their mirrors is the one upside down.
Yes, thought the same - Karma...
True, well pointed out
Probably more like lack of head check. Mirrors can have blind spots which is why a head check often helps
He didn't even look straight ahead. The red car was in front of him!
I bet they will blame the other drivers for the crash
I swear some drivers are legally blind people who found a fake licence in a cereal box. Some clueless idiots out there, who could ruin your day or your life in seconds
You are absolutely spot on there mate, seriously!!!
Yep. Must have been from Fruit Loops.. :P
Shane Sawyer agreed, I scratch my head wondering how these imbeciles got their licence
agbugger newsflash men are sh@t drivers too
@agbugger For you to assume that just goes to show how close minded you are lol...
There's nothing harder to see than a bright red car straight in front of you in broad daylight.
@Greg if you could see how glorious the thing in my lap is, you would look too
And a 2 second gap.
red cars are the worst, they have the same colour as the brake lights and makes it hard to see if the car is braking.
Putting aside the issue of relative visibility of one color vs another, I am thinking that was not an issue on this occasion! You can cultivate many accident avoidance strategies, but there is almost nothing you can do about some idiot suddenly swerving hard into the side of your car..
And even harder to see a car next to you in a blind spot...
In reality, it doesn´t matter how good or bad the driver was. It can happen anytime to anyone. Even a pro driver can crash like a total beginner.
POLICE: Who is at fault?
Cammer: Ask the guy on the roof.
Donald Trump .
Cammer: "Chuck Norris sneezed"
Police: "Chuck Norris is not here"
Cammer: "Yeah, he's still at home..."

I'm not saying it was aliens .... It was aliens !
Always the truck at fault lol
Did someone say KFC?
or Hungry Jacks? Looks like they need a longer right turn lane at the next intersection.
I don't care, I love it!
Lol. Genuine snort laugh here.
Drove your car off a bridge?

i found out about this really cool feature on my car, i never noticed it before, apparently everyone's car has it so you should take a look, they are these reflective glass things that let me see what's going on around me. so cool
Very good! I love it when drivers are smart enough to ensure their recordings are in crisp HD or better - thank you Brendan Terrett for this.👏🏻🤝
Wow, that escalated quickly...
That really jumped up a notch
I mean it really got out of hand.
I was just about to comment that
Now it's getting out of control
Really turned everyone's day upside down
I really hate when people have something in front of them be it random or slowing down or whatever and decide 'yknow what im not going to slow down im just going to SWERVE into the lane next to me and everyone else can deal with it'
Two fundamental errors I see on the road every day is (1) people not checking their blind spot and (2) people not indicating when changing lanes. You should always indicate, even when you are sure there is no vehicle close to you, because the day will come when you are wrong and there is someone in your blind spot. At least by indicating you give them a fighting chance to take evasive action when you change without checking. Also, motorbikes come up really fast. You might not see them, but they will see your indicator if they are alert. I was recently almost sandwiched between two semis. I noticed the one semi indicating to turn into my lane and that got my attention.....I was right next to him and realised he might not be aware that I was there. I then noticed him actually starting to change lane and I was able to brake and evade a catastrophe. I couldn’t accelerate out of the problem as there was a vehicle in front of me. My point is: always indicate.
so fire bro keep it up keeping the community safe g
"not checking their blind spot". In the time since you wrote that comment have you worked out what 'blind' implies?
@@-opus in this context, “blind spot” means it’s not visible using only your mirrors, so you have to momentarily turn your head to check. Hope that helps. Probably better to understand the term “blind spot” in this context than try to prove some point (whatever that may be) by looking at the meaning of “blind”. Have a good day.
@@tangomike15 I know what a blind spot is, it is where ignorant, stupid people drive. It is called a blind spot for a reason, whether you believe the name random, or not.
The red station wagon saw the banked up lane on the right and CLEARLY gunned it to thwart the grey car switching lanes in front of it. @0:16 Obvious af.
The good ol lane dive no indicator trick, usually performed by tradies
If you look real carefully you can see they indicate but then totally ignored the part of looking before changing lanes.
looks more like he swerved to avoid the car in front that stopped in the fast land to turn right because the turning land was full.
Marcel Scherzer yeah, he was virtually stopped by that stage. Looks like the blue car was tailgating the red car so when he/she stopped he/she had no time to properly check before changing lanes.
@@dylandoge1627 Idk, can you yanks go one day without forcing your opinion on others? You are on Aussie youtube mate, deal with it

Mitchell Clark According to recent data, a common factor in motorcycle-related injuries and deaths is risk-taking, accounting for 50% of fatal motorcycle crashes and 28% of non-fatal crashes.
For all the cars on the road every day, the ratio of accidents is tiny.

Also, props to Brendan (the camera car) for seeing the issue and reacting way way before the p plater did.
In the P plater's defence, they didn't merge without checking mirror's and indicating. They were mostly following the rules and don't have years of practice or been taught the advantage of tactical braking.

Blue car deserved to get rolled.... Tailgating, zero spacial awareness + not looking before yanking the wheel over to the left.. Hope they foot the entire bill for causing this easily avoidable crash.
Not tailgating, (s)he didn't look in front to see cars stopped ahead until the last second. I bet there was a screen distracting that driver.
@@FMuscleZ28 Yeah true, you can almost guarantee it involves a phone these days lol
@@FMuscleZ28 Yep, spot on. But you can bet they blamed everyone else for getting in the way
The red car in the middle lane accelerated massively in the last few seconds before the crash. The blue car would've expected their left to still be clear, and wouldn't have had time to check again before swerving to avoid the car stopping suddenly in front.
However swerving is not the right thing to do unless you're 100% sure it's safe.
You're right, the blue car should've tried to stop, not change lanes. But I can understand why they thought their left was clear.
@@ianhinson2829 Red car did accelerate a lot but the blue car did not signal their intent to turn until they started turning. The blue car saw the hazard in front judging by the brake lights coming on at 0:14 but decided to swerve anyway at 0:16 despite the lack of space in front of the red car. There was no sudden stop in front of the blue car. The cars were queued for the right turn as seen when the camera car pulled over. NSW road rules say you must "give sufficient warning" before you change lanes - signalling for less than 1 second was not sufficient warning. The blue car was completely at fault and the blame cannot be pinned on any other drivers. The blue car's correct action would have been to: 1)actually use their brakes while approaching the stopped cars instead of just resting their foot on the pedal for 2 seconds; and 2)use their turn signal earlier. If the driver of the blue car cannot see the 5+ stopped cars in front of them, they should turn in their license and apply for a vision disability.

3 second gap people, and get off your phones.
At this point I'm almost willing to settle for a 2 second gap, but I know on citiy roads it's a constant problem of someone pulling into the gap you thoughtfully made for them. I dont care if I'm 1 minute later than expected, even if I add that time up for a decade, it's still going to be faster than the day I plow into someones cars ass & everything associated with that
@@dashingdave2665 amen to that attitude
Ciara ....and longer turning lanes do cars are not stopped in the running lanes would help too.
@@dashingdave2665 The correct quote is not remembered, but, a bloke by the name of Ron Finemore, back in the 1970's said something along the lines of: "If someone runs up your backside, it is not your fault, unless you had no brakelights when braking. However, if you run up someone's backside, expect hell from the people in front, and from me!!!"
There was also another said to me: Your vehicle is not to touch another vehicle whilst you are in charge of it. This means, you shall drive in a safe manner. Let others around you know what you are doing and intending to do. Indicate early and seek permission from the driver behind if you are diverging to another lane. Wave a thank you to them after completing the lane change. Hand signal if you need to stop in a hurry, as you apply your brakes or prior to. Be prepared to yield to other drivers who may not be technically competent to be on the road. Know the rules of the road for each jurisdiction that you drive in, as the blighters do vary between jurisdictions! Be in positive control of your vehicle at all times. This means using the gears descending hills; stay off the brakes; use the parking brake at extended stops and for stop signs. Do not use your phone or other electronic devices when driving, but use the UHF for traffic and road conditions sparingly. But, most important: EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED!!!!
Its funny how 25years ago it was taught to keep a 2 sec gap. Tech has improved to make cars stop faster and because ppl cant even do a 2 sec gap they now recommend a 3 sec gap in hopes ppl might keep a 1 sec gap 🤣
Sees the traffic ahead, doesn't slow down, or indicate, then swerves into another lane. GENIUS
they indicated and slowed down...
Although it wasn't his fault, the red Mazda wagon could easily have prevented this accident by driving more defensively. He knew there was a chance of the grey Toyota pulling out in front of him, hence at 0:15 he sped up to sit next to the vehicle and block it from entering his lane. The Yaris wouldn't be expecting the Mazda to suddenly accelerate and pull up alongside him suddenly, so when he swerved into the lane, a collision occurred. This was preventable on two accounts.
The red car doesn't speed up, it just looks that way because the camera car and the blue car are slowing down. The red car maintains the same speed as the red car in front of it the whole time.
Completely agree, although not the red station wagons fault, he continued to speed up to block the blue hatch back. We've all done it
I agree, red Mazda wagon deliberately sped up to block him, that old mentality of " no one can drive in front of me, I own the road." people.
Nice call
You're right. Also judging by the speed I think the car in front of Yaris (orange) came to a full stop, forcing the Yaris to swerve
Brilliant to see the cammer only paused for less than a second before pulling off onto the central reservation to make sure no-one else - being totally un-attentive behind - rear ended him/her.
Looks like they were stopping to help.
@@TravisHi_YT Probably so, and very commendable, but still very quick thinking to pull - almost straight away - onto the "safe" central reservation to do so rather than just stopping in the fast lane and waiting to be rear ended before they could help.
An important lesson here is the red car (not to blame) sped up last second to get ahead of the blue car as soon as they put their indicator. Probably to avoid being cut off last second.
The blue car was definitely a moron for cutting lanes last second, but the red car could’ve avoided the whole situation if they just slowed down instead of speeding up.
Always be aware of potential hazards in front of you - especially if there is a reason that a car might suddenly cut in front of you like this.
Well observed, that was the first thing I noticed.
The wanker in the red wagon didn't help any did he/she. They floored it as soon as they saw the silver car indicating.
The car didnt indicate until they were side by side
💯 spot on I've watch this 10 times..... person in blue car was expecting a gap to be there as soon as the Muppet in the Red Wagon noticed that the blue car was obviously going around the cars stopped to turn .... SO THE DICK CLOSED THE DOOR FOR NO REASON ...
The blue hatch is not at fault at all , they new they had at least a 50 metre gap right up until they need to go round those stopped cars ..but all of a sudden there was no 50 m GAP CAUSE THE DICK IN THE RED WAGON HAD TO BE A SMART ARSE ..... Really hate people that drive like this ....Yeh blue hatch probably shouldn't drive like that ....but that's doesn't mean YOU DO SOMETHING JUST AS BAD OR WORSE LIKE SPEEDING UP 20KPH INSTANTLY TO CLOSE THE GAP AND ANY CHANCE OF GOING AROUND THOSE CARS ...

Old mate in red car knew the blue car would want to change lanes so accelerated to block him out.

I saw that too 🤣 But it's a race and you have to get to the finish line first no matter what!! Drive a safe distance behind, leave a gap, or god forbid even indicate and shoulder check?? Am I effing insane? Where I'm from even Form One Lanes are just a game of chicken as to who will pull back first...
@@scabootie Absolutely. The red car in the middle lane sped up like a maniac just 1 second before the crash. It's like he was trying to force a rear end collision.
I had that happen to me once. I was on a left lane changing to the middle due to a parked car on the clearway. A car level with me on the right lane moved into the middle for no reason but to stop me manoeuvring around the parked car. I had to hit the skids and luckily stopped in time. I even saw the young smart-arse looking at me as he moved into the middle lane.

@@stopsallmelb it's definitely what you do before changing lanes as seen in this clip
it's not even a blind spot. he's literally on his passenger door
Nevermind your blind spots, how about looking out the damn windshield for vehicles in front of you.
@@fuzzjunky Not when he made the decision to change lanes. The cars were going very different speeds.
The red wagon must bear some responsibility too. If he was situationally aware he could see that the Yaris was approaching stopped traffic too quickly and it's likely they would either brake heavily, or swerve left to aviod a rear ender, so instead of braking himself or moving into left lane, he accelarates considerably in an attempt to get ahead of the situtation he could see coming. Part of being a good driver is to anticipate the mistakes that other drivers make everyday, and to adjust your driving to avoid those mistakes escalating as they did in this instance. As annoying as other drivers behaviour may be you cannot let it get to you. Everyone has made mistakes on the roads.
The driver of the red vehicle accelerated soon as the blue driver started indicating so as to prevent the blue driver from getting infront. So while the blue vehicle driver holds the responsibility of failing to give way when changing lanes, he could have performed the lane change successfully if the red vehicle driver wasn't such a dick and obstructed the lane change by accerating and breaking the speed limit just because they needed to be in front.
Legal wise they can't do shit to red car BUT without a doubt, like you said he bare part of the responsibilities, especially when there was no one behind him, he had no reason to speed up when blue wanted to move lanes
Looks like that provisional driver won't be getting their license!
So many classic moves.
Red station wagon sees the turn lane is backing up, speeds up.
Yaris fails to take note* of backed up lane, fails to slow in anticipation of the 2 cars in front not clearing the backup, fails to Indicate, fails to head check, fails to stay rubber side down.

*it's one thing to see it, it's another thing to think ahead
The red station wagon was already going faster than the Yaris. It did not speed up, it maintained it's speed.
@@mrphuongie Indeed, I am in error. relative car speeds fooled me.
A closer look shows the cam car slowing, the left lane also slowing but relative to the 2nd red car ahead in the middle lane the red station wagon holds steady.

One of the strange things I didn't realise at the time is that the radio of the Yaris got ejected in the crash - you can see it lying behind and to the right of the red station wagon at the end. I just thought it was some piece of unrelated junk that you see from time to time strewn on the roads.
@RonnyDonny13 1. No, but the guy in the Commodore had his dog escape and run away towards the servos which sucks.
2. No, there were two women in the ute and they ran to help the people in the car. The driver saw the car flip in the rear vision mirror so they knew something bad had happened.

Good ad for holden, that captiva took a beefy hit and looks in pretty good shape
Working in traffic control, I can tell you, the biggest issue drivers have is never indicating. Major intersections, in roadworks, doesn't matter, 19/20 people do not indicate.
Had a shuttle flow across a bridge, where I had control of people turning left from where I was sending people over the bridge. 12 hour nightshift.
All people had to do, was approach with, or put on their indicator AT ALL, while sitting at my stop bat, and I would let them turn, why make them wait for the traffic coming across, or for the crane moving barriers 5-10 minutes at a time, when I could just let them go, right?
All night, literally 10-12 hours, almost every car would sit there, for 5-10 minutes, no indicator. and most of those times, they would start hurling abuse "I JUST WANT TO FUCKING TURN LEFT, WHY ARE YOU HOLDING ME CUNT!?", to which I would hurl similar abuse at them about not having an indicator on the entire 5-10 minutes they were sitting in front of me.
Traffic Control is a good industry to get into to kill your hope in humanity..
Drives me insane how many people just don't indicate! I mean, it's really not hard! Or people that indicate AFTER THEY HAVE TURNED! Like, what's that supposed to achieve?
Don't forget people who only indicate when they're already midway into changing lanes or 0.5 seconds before turning.

Blue Yaris driver needs to stay the hell away from the drivers seat
Nah, his guide dog needs a few more driving lessons.
1: Maroon station wagon travelling in center lane is maintaining a steady rate of speed.
2: Blue car in right lane suddenly brakes because of stopped car in front.
3: Blue car activates left turn signal while still moving forward at a much slower speed.
4: Maroon station wagon can be seen increasing speed as evidenced by how quickly it starts to pass the blue sedan in the left lane.
5: It is obvious at this point that the driver of the Maroon station wagon is aware of the Blue car in right lane and that they intend to merge into the center lane in front. It is either accelerating because hit does not want a slower vehicle in front or it is trying to get ahead so the other vehicle has clear road to merge behind , only the driver knows.
6: Driver of blue vehicle is not aware of their surroundings and suddenly tries to merge with the center lane.
7: Probably a female drive which would explain the lack of spatial awareness.

Tim Summers I was scrolling for this comment, maybe should’ve just said it myself but yeah, red Audi floored it...didn’t want any cars in front of him I guess
@@tattletalestrangler7815 Exactly. If he had been more careful and less selfish, he could have avoided the accident.
I also noticed that. It's every road users responsibility to avoid accidents. It wouldn't have cost him any time at all to have allowed the car to merge safely.
@@danielstewart3507 True. He was selfish and paid a high price for it.
Yes but blue car shouldve waited and checked before merging and put indicator on. It cant expect other lane to let it merge thinking everone shouldn't see the red car stopping and therefore let blue car merge asap. Blue car is lazy and entitled. Red car isnt nice but nice isnt what you should expect. Following the rules is what to be expected.

left mirror and blind spot. what are those?
No time, with the guy in front slamming on brakes, and because they were too close tried to avoid. And the guy on left came up quick.. comedy of errors.
@@miboogaroo I didnt see anybody slam on breaks. The Captiva was clearly indicating and slowing to turn. this is 100% the Yaris drivers fault
@@staticman1263 the red car in front was at a dead stop at 18seconds . Yes they were indicating and most likely slowing b4 and working out where they can fit in the side lane but when the blue car finally paid attention, he was stopped with a couple metres to still get to the side lane. A few seconds b4 there was no car beside blue so he could possibly have finished his quick evasive action with minimal damage. No denying blue was at fault.
@@miboogaroo I think the red car was still rolling forward, hard to tell in such a short amount of time on camera. I guess its also about knowing whos where in lanes, not just whats in front of them. Even in flowing traffic I am always checking whos beside me and whos behind me. Some thing a lot of drivers dont bother doing.
Staticman agreed. But I think red could’ve also been aware of what was happening to their right. I think maybe they were, which is why they sped up so blue couldn’t cut in front of them. They didn’t expect blue to be suffering from a total lack of awareness.
the red suv brake checked the blue car
Right turn lane too short for both KFC and Hungry Jacks.
Red station wagon driver should have seen traffic stopping back into the RH lane and moved away from the inevitable crash, not speeded up.
Blue car driver schooled on looking ahead and following at a safe distance.
Nothing to do with the right lane being short. It could have been a kid on the road that the car stopped for. Expect the unexpected at all times.

@0:14 sec blue car brake lights come on... and @ 0:17sec they go off. My guess is the blue car had plenty of time to brake in the right lane, but decided to accelerate into the centre lane. Just forgot about looking in the mirror or blind spot to confirm a big red car in the way. All to save a few seconds of waiting until the centre lane was clear... and now waiting many minutes upside down.
if you want someone to know importance of checking their shoulder while driving, show them this video !
I'm guessing the blue car in the right lane was distracted. I think the red car in front of him was slowing because of the traffic in front of him, and the blue car jerks it into the next lane causing the accident.
Wow, head check would of made some difference
looking ahead to might help
judging by how fast they jerked over i think they were trying to quickly avoid the stopped car in front of them, because they were probably distracted.
Yeah distracted yes probably texting 😂

@@capnskiddies thanks, I should of checked. Lol 😆.
It looks like the car in front of the blue car suddenly slowed down and then the blue car changed lanes immediately instead of braking.
_Several_ cars in front had slowed as the turning lane was full... The red one, 2 silver ones, the ute, and whoever was in front but not hit.
Do we really expect any better from a Yaris?
And, I was run over by a Toyota! Oh, what a feeling! Bugga!
Nope. I keep my distance from anyone driving a Yaris, especially a late model one. They're among the most hazardous vehicles on the road (after Commodores and utes).
his habit of swerving lanes has done him well
The guy in the red wagon needs to take some blame here too. He / she would’ve seen the cars backed up in the turn lane but sped up seemingly to try and get in front of the Yaris before it changed lanes. Agreed the Yaris made a dick move but 3 seconds earlier that lane was clear
yeh dick move by the red car, speeding up when he has nowhere to go... obvious attempt at blocking the yaris from changing lanes. yaris still mostly to blame but fuck man
I agree, shit move by the blue car but the dick in the red car did speed up, when reviewing the footage the cops or insurers may deem he was breaking the speed limit. Did look like at the time of collision it was going a decent 10 to 20 kays faster than everyone else. Put it this way, didn't do anyone or themselves any favours.
Red wagon made very poor use of blind spot. Stayed back, stayed steady, then accelerated to be perfectly positioned. Yaris might have monitored red wagon for 30 seconds beforehand, thinking lane to left was always an option. It’s still Yaris’s fault of course, but if you wanna avoid bad drivers then stay out of blind spots.
no, if the red car is on its speed limits, he is not at all at fault. when you hop lanes, you have to wait till the other lane is clear, no matter what. so the yaris should've slowed down seeing the traffic in front of him/her, checked the left side mirror and performed a head turn blind spot check, then move hop into the other lane when it's clear ( when the red car passed him, in this case)
@@dprashank-tamil8432 Of course the car changing lanes has the obligation to check that its clear and indicate before merging and is clearly at fault in this case but the red car clearly accelerated to be going much faster than the cars around him (presumably above the posted speed limit). Being able to see what was ahead, the driver of the red car should've anticipated that the driver of the Yaris may try to merge and not boxed him in leaving him no where to go. Speed limit or not, it was still a dick move to try and get in front before the other car inevitably had to merge.
Was the blue Yaris at fault? Sure, but the red wagon in the middle lane was equally at fault. If you look carefully you can see the red wagon accelerate into the accident and pull away from the camera car. The red wagon obviously could see a reason ahead for the blue Yaris to want to change lanes and rather than backing off a tad it instead accelerated into the gap in order to block the Yaris. In its effort to block the Yaris it also probably placed itself in the Yaris's blind spot.
Both at fault.
Personally in this situation I would see the potential for an accident and back off yet some drivers just see it as a reason to be a jerk and accelerate head long into the accident.
KFC says I don't care, I love it. I'm going to go get some now. Must be a sign 🕵️

Honestly that was not what I was expecting at this intersection 😂 I drive here so often I was expecting it to be the left turn a little further up.
Same here, they really like to go full on brake spaz and late indicate just before.

Probably Yaris driver is on the phone.
bet
If they were they would have just rear-ended the Captiva, probably just a Clueless driver who has never use their mirrors in their life 😕
Although that may be possible, I don't think so. We will never know for sure so I don't think it's fair to just say that. What is 100% clear though is they were completely unaware of the car coming up behind and a driver should always be aware of any vehicles around them as i'm sure you know. They then also sharply turn left without indicating or given any clue at all as to what they were about to do. I think it is more likely the cars in front of the Yaris were slowing and the Yaris driver thought they would just do a quick whip around them to get in front as a split second decision. It looks like in the video the red car is directly along side the red car so the Yaris driver didn't even bother to glance out the window never mind be aware of their mirrors.
I peronally think this person was solely focused on the car in front and nothing else. If they was on the phone they wouldn't be trying to get in front they would just lag behind focusing on their phone and getting in front wouldn't be on their mind.
What even happened there? Blue didn't notice the stopped car in front of them, so suddenly tried to swerve around them at the last minute?

Looks like red commodore wagon suddenly accelerated just before the crash.
Or the vehicles in the right hand lane slowed. The wagon was just flowing with the traffic - it doesn't get any closer to the vehicle in front of it.
still you've gotta wait till the lane is clear to hop.
If you look to the right the red Holden Trax has either stopped or slowed down, seems there was a couple cars stopped in the right lane. Small car obviously wasn’t paying attention and instead of slamming the breaks on goes in the middle lane in the last second and hits a car, but did you see that other car before the crash? Why did he speed up all of a sudden? Had he not done that the smaller car would have got in the lane fine and not hit anyone. I think there was already an accident with 2 cars up ahead in the right lane which is why the Trax stopped.
The blue car was primarily at fault but the red wagon is at fault as well. They could have averted the crash by having some road sense and predicting what would happen. If they hadn't accelerated to prevent the blue car coming into the middle lane this crash would not have happened.
Agreed. Of course you shouldn't overtake on the left, but if you ever are in that position, assume you are in the blind spot and act accordingly. That said, difficult to account for such a sudden and reckless lane change!
