Thank you to all you truckies out there. You do a great job delivering all goods throughout Australia. Especially through this Covid crisis.. Thank you... Take care and be safe on the roads.. 😘😘
Some (not all) of the truck drivers in the first half of this video made questionable choices. Based entirely on the footage in this video, it appeared to me that some truckies were speeding and crashing into cars. What about the near miss at 9:10 at the intersection when the car pulled out from the right? In Victoria if you are at intersections without traffic lights or signs you must give way to any vehicle entering or approaching the intersection from your right. That truckie should have backed off and given way to the car entering from the right. Some truckies are downright intimidating.
That driver was a Moron, music blaring, really wet westgate freeway, cars coming in from millers road, and then riding up there ass going to fast... that was all the truck driver that one.
The truck driver at 2:06 has made a number of mistakes here before the start of the accident: - He started overtaking another truck on the left (which in this case also boxed him in) - He allowed himself to get very close to the car in front of him - All this with poor visibility and a wet road surface I don't know exactly why the car in front slowed down but in a sense, it doesn't matter, he only slowed slightly. It might have been brake checking as some have suggested or it might have been that one of the common bits of advice for being tailgated is to gradually slow down to make the tailgater back off. The car might also have seen something ahead of concern. Overall, almost entirely the truck drivers fault.
@@CovidConQuitTheCensorship neither, he slammed the brakes because the car in front slowed down, his rear/trailer tires locked up on the wet surface and he spun out / his own sliding trailer pushed him aside
I do heaps of km and notice often if I get up someone's arse cos I know the road and plan to pass after next bend.. the front driver starts to panic and brakes. Spose it's a natural reaction but I seriously don't understand them .
I was in the Darwin to Adelaide World Solar Challenge a few times and our solar car and support vehicles were regularly overtaken by A triples. When they came up behind we called him/her on the VHF when safe to overtake, pulled as far left as we could without going on the gravel, they came past, we told the driver when they were clear and they pulled back in giving a left-right-left flash. 3010 km each time and never a problem.
Fuck that should have made the subaru driver fuck there car who cares if they die if you drive like that putting othe peoples life at risk then you have it coming
Serious respect, he risked his life to save another's, leaving the road into soft shoulder and field can easily end up in disaster, cab tipping, jack knifing, etc. He seemed a really cool guy.
There are obviously some anatomic abnormalities on display here. The vision, the brain, the hands, and the feet, all are being called into question. Just sayin ...
2:06 Something similar happened to my dad when he was a rookie. Had an accident, somehow he managed to control his truck so it wasn't anything bad, but when police showed up they told him, if someone brakes in front of you, or cuts you off, you ram them, because you can only kill them may be yourself, unless it's another truck unlikely. If you swerve to dodge the car, break too hard, you will lose control, you will hit others, and you will hit or kill innocent people instead of an idiot who does something stupid to make you go off the road. Which makes sense.
half a sec later "what happened there" my guess the truck in the right hand lane was most likely a straight ahead only lane, and the car in the left lane was a straight ahead or turn left lane got nailed
@@nzbidzel some trucks need 2 or 3 lanes to take that hard turn as theyre too long. Hence the "do not overtake turning vehicle" signs. This driver was not paying attention the the blinker on the truck
@@dontlikeorsub Really? The truck is in one of the middle (straight ahead) lanes, turning across another (straight ahead & left turn) lane, going way to quick to take the corner safely or for others driver to assume the truck is about to make an illegal turn across their lane, all so the truck can bet the red light. A truck driver that knows what they are doing would edge across, while indicating, taking up both lanes, ensuring another car cannot come up the inside lane, taking the corner with caution. It's the truck drivers responsibility to ensure that the lane they are turning across is clear. Lane wasn't clear. Truck drivers fault. I think you'll also find that this car that got hit wasn't overtaking the truck, but driving, legally, on the inside lane.
@@dontlikeorsub Correct, I'm not arguing that. But unfortunate, the truck was only taking up one lane, and it wasn't the turning lane. No part of the truck was taking up the inside lane until they turned in quickly and aggressively, to beat the lights, causing the contact. And remember, it is the truck drivers responsibility to ensure the lane is clear before turning. Truck driver fucked up and I hope they were held to account.
The trucker at the end is a hero. Why the f... don't we celebrate heroes like him on a national level? The guy risked his own life to save several. That's an Order of Australia right there. Thank you mate.
you would hope! but im not sure how a typical claimant would deal with this scenario! he never made contact, he just swerved off damaging his own truck. hopefully his insurance/company insurance covers semi at fault (in the eyes of the law) stuff like this.
I work as a transport network operator in NZ and I can tell you the truckies are the ones who fix problems on the road. You have no idea how many lives I've seen them save in near misses, removing road hazards, attending to crashes they weren't even involved in to keep the traffic moving... they're absolute legends. But they remain humans, give them space, indicate, slow down, let them in. I've seen way too many deaths in a car v.s truck scenario. It's simply not worth the few seconds or minutes off your journey, if you're lucky.
Oh, i see that P plate driver 2:45 deciding to turn right from extreme left of road. You wouldn't, at least the P plater wouldn't want your brakes to fade.
People generally don’t know how hard it is to be a truck driver. Especially if your a long haul and have to navigate the city to get to a wharf. The hardest would be with live loads cos it moves around. I used to do a lot of rural and interstate driving at all times of night. I was always glad to follow a truck cos they knew where the speed cameras were so we cruise along. Then when we passed a camera or/and safe to pass I could always rely on them to pop their right blinker on to let me know I’m good to go. I’ve had this experience heaps of times. I don’t know who any of those drivers are. But I thank them because they were keeping me and themselves safe. So now I live in city truck side I always let them in and flash my lights to let them know I’m giving way. I would rather some joker car driver lay on the horn or swear at me than see a trucker get into a pile up on the freeways. Thank you truckers!!!
Heididi yeh your right and if your in Australia and on a Rural dirt or paved rade and it’s single lane little cars always should pull over and on UHF or other channel 40 say” the road is all your mate “ my dad did that and we got a thanks and I think you know this
"I could always rely on them to pop their right blinker on to let me know I’m good to go." Don't try that in England. Here, it's left for overtake, right for don't overtake. That makes sense.
Yep! That's me! Nice to hear of someone who understands what that random right blinker comes on for intermittently, you'd be surprised how many dopey bastards just don't get it.
When I lived outback the blinker was always what I waited for They are higher and can see further down the road then I If my turn was the next left I’d just pull back and put my lefty on Not that hard, some people just don’t seem to understand math and physics the truck can not stop that fast if you merge into it’s stopping zone in wet weather no less and then break your gonna get hit or the truck is gonna soon out trying to stop aye
In the name of myself and other truckers worldwide: thank you for being a driver with a functioning brain. Many car drivers treat us, well, like other cars. They presume we can always clearly see them, we can stop for them, etc. Many apparently think "oh wow this truck could stop fast, certainly that one can aswell" disregarding one very basic thing: you don't know our load. It could be 1.000 kg, it could be 30.000 kg. Thank you for wisely choosing to not endanger yourself and others. Oh and here's a tip for the jackasses: if you disregard the law and cause us to perform an emergency stop, then quickly run off because no collision happened, here's some news: if we get this on our handy little dashcams, you might very well end up paying for an entire damaged load anyway even though you think you "got away". I'll repeat: you don't know our loads. A colleague of mine transported a completely average looking container not so long ago, inside it was a highly sensitive, very specific scanner for pharmaceutical purposes. Pricetag (we know for it was in the load documents): 1.5 billion euro's (1.77 billion USD). So next time you cut off a truck to win a few seconds, be prepared for a lifetime of being enslaved by debt. Not to mentioon that in the current crisis: we might be transporting medical PPE, medication, ventilators, etc. You really want to mess that up right now?
These videos plus a road trip from Melbourne to Alice Springs by car in 2015 have given me a different perspective on what truck drivers face each day.
I loved the caravan one. Going over the trailer limit, it's your own fault, matey. And the moron who, either, attempted to move into an occupied lane, or, more likely, wanted to turn left, and was so focussed on that 30 seconds task, that the BIG ORANGE TRUCK just became invisible.
Truck driver at 4:23 was lucky he had a side road to divert too otherwise this may have ended badly. Also we either need to make smaller vehicles or wider country roads. Too many drivers trying to overtake bigger ones or just being plain stupid & impatient. Not worth it for the consequences that follow. If U r stuck behind a large vehicle & are able to, just pull over & wait 5 minutes then proceed. This is my answer. Watching some of these incidents between trucks & cars reminds me of the 1970 movie Duel starring Dennis Weaver. That was as scary as & often exists in real life.
Most of these just show you that you can be doing the right thing on the road but there always would be an idiot who doesn't who ends up causing an accident.
I saw a couple caravan issues. For those who don't know what to do when your caravan (or any trailer for that matter) starts to fishtail like the few in the video. Don't try to correct it by counter-steering etc. Simply accelerate and try to keep the steering wheel as straight as you can. The trailer will follow you out and stop fishtailing, trying to correct it will only increase the chances you lose control and have an accident. (Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but having plenty of towing experience this is what Ive been taught and have found to work)
On behalf of friends and family who have benefited IMMENSLY from this invention, my heart felt thanks and continuing prayers for the inventors good health, future successes, and for helping thousands enjoy theirs.
Wtf. lmao. Some truckers might not even know how to operate a camera. If you at least don't get a pricey camera, then the cheap one you bought will take decades only to get to the 3rd menu...
Nope, I wasn't bad talking truckers. Just saying it's worth the investment for a better built camera. I bought a $25 camera (my fault) and couldn't even get the SD card to fit (somehow the spring was broken). That camera you couldn't even just plug it in and record. You had to press one too many buttons in order to get the correct settings, such as night vision, day light, etc. The audio gave up on the first day of using it and the SD card kept sliding out, duct tape wouldn't hold it either lol. I've learned my lesson, don't buy cheap Chinese crap... I'll only buy South Korean or Japanese made product from now on and check online reviews.
If you pay people to drive your trucks and you don't put cameras in you should sell up as well. There are some retarded truck drivers out there as well. "Hows my driving" stickers aren't good enough any more to track how good your drivers are. I know I was almost murdered by a truck who merged into me because he didn't want to slow down (NOT one that couldn't slow down in time).
7:02 if he didn't move over the driver of the Subaru would have killed the black car driver. Truck driver should be given a hero medal for saving those 2 cars from death.
My brother use to drive a B-Double. He took me for a short spin around Smithfield NSW one day, in just half an hour I saw the shit he had to deal with, mainly cars cutting him up at traffic lights. Education for trucks, motorcycles and (unfortunately LOL?) cyclists needs to be improved here in Australia. Getting a car licence is WAY too easy!
Laws need to be changed in many areas. Eg a cyclist does not need to use a cycle lane So in other words my rego fees which went to build it gets wasted by a dick that doesn't need to have rego or insurance?
IIGrayfoxII I'm sure most cyclists also have a car and pay taxes so they're paying for the roads anyway. Why don't you use the cycle lane? Then you'll be even.
Respect to all the truck drivers. My mother taught me from a very young age to give trucks respect on the road and give them space. I've had many truckers thank me on the road for letting them merge or turn a corner without me up their arse. I see so many people treating trucks like small cars.
That last truck driver is a good guy. Good on you mate. Austrian drivers on the whole are pretty good, Some are just bad but you get that anywhere in the world.
Kobus was thinking the same thing, but then again when im on the road here(south africa) it doesnt seem like there are any idiots behind a steering wheel.
You guys are amazing - how you drive on the roads every day with so many thoughtless drivers is a major credit to you - God bless truckies all over the world.
Daily basis ? What an absolute load of crap. You clearly have no idea what it is like to drive a truck.Sometimes they have to go or they will never get anywhere. You just slow and let them in. It's easy. If you are slamming on your brakes on a daily basis you are a very poor driver. Thanks for playing though.
but this video suggests that truck drivers have a crash at least once a day, if we wanted to drive trucks for a living we would do it , but we don't. Don't make excuses for incidents you haven't witnessed he may live in an area with a lot of truck movement for construction and they dont look when exiting a site , why must car drivers yield to trucks every time , most car drivers don't drive as a job where as in truck drivers do it for a living so there the professional and should be driving more responsibly than the average joe blow , i witness trucks constantly going through orange and red lights and its not because they cant stop as they are going pretty slow when it happens which in turn prevents other vehicles from going about there business when its there turn (trucks included) if they dont like the length of the green light petition the local govt dept to extend them
3:46 I swear to god 90% of drivers turn like this, and the only way to keep a safe distance from them is to do the same thing which isn't viable in a truck, how the hell people with a license end up turning like this is beyond me.
It's because they are fucking stupid. They think "road is 60/70, must drive at or above that speed at all times" regardless of whether there is a bend in the road they might need to slow down for. So they get to the bend but they have no confidence or even concept of their vehicle's cornering capabilities, so they think if they take the corner properly they'll skid out and kill themselves, and they know they're too shit to control the car if it starts losing grip, so they just cut the corner.
It's such an easy "turn" though, should be simple to stay within the lines without needing to slow down. Natural selection, why do we as society cater for the lowest common denominator in these situations rather than let nature take it's course.
It's because a large majority of motorists have no idea have to negotiate a bend. Instead of having their eyes up pointed as far ahead along the curve as possible, they stare straight at the centre line right in front of them and wonder why that's where they end up going!
The driver of the car is a drongo. Theres a extra 0.5m past the unbroken line on the right that he could drive on if he understeers. Instead, he oversteers and drives into the truck.
The driver turning into oncoming traffic was clearly at fault. This is an intersection in Gympie, Qld (at the duck ponds). It's a shit place to turn right (like the car was doing in this video), which is why I actively avoid doing so when traveling through. However, in saying that though you can see enough to make this turn safely if you need to. This driver just completely failed at that.
From what I know being a relative to a truck driver that's been doing it for ages. He likes to listen to upbeat or fast music to keep himself away on long hours.
Little do you realise that teen pop is also adult pop in the real world. Most of these white hairs dont have any musical preference - they just have the "radio" on.
Maths problem for year 11: Setup: You are in a private vehicle weighing 1.5 tonnes and traveling at 80 KPH. As you decelerate to 20kph you turn onto a major road, from a side road, you become aware of a 50 tonne truck 20 metres away and traveling at 70 KPH. Question: How long do you have to live? 🤣
4:04 is a textbook example of a trailer incorrectly loaded. The weight was on the tail, rather than the hitch. That was unrecoverable once it started fishing. Always make sure there is more weight forward of the axles than behind them.
Some people have an arrogance problem where they always say "I don't need anyone to tell me how to attach a trailer!" Alright mate, good luck when you fishtail and roll over in the middle of nowhere and by luck, can't get yer mobile to work!
That was a few different mistakes that didn't have anything to do with the trailer being loaded. Going way too fast for one, the draft off the rig is what got the trailer swaying then they over corrected once they got in front of him. I've seen lots of holiday weekends start with rolled over trucks and travel trailers, it's really fun when they flop opposite eachother and twist the hitch and safety chains all up with the trailer in a thousand pieces and end up blocking the entire freeway at 6PM on a Friday night.
Yeah not really the drivers fault by the looks of it. When you're ahead, it's not your responsibility to look behind you (and speed up if someones trying to knock you into a tail spin).
Me Ru The car was in the trucks blind spot. Drivers need to learn and be cognisant of the areas around a truck where the driver cannot see you. The truck driver did everything correctly, indicating well before he performed the lane change, going him time to check his mirrors to give way to any cars. There is no way that truck driver saw that car.
Have you ever closely watched a long vehicle (especially those with a pivot point) turn? Even a small example like a bus? They take a different line around corners and also have a larger blind spot compared to a car (so they are unaware that you are trying to sneakily merge before them). They also don't grind to halt at the drop of a hat. The moral of the story is don't try to creep around or cut in front of trucks... I thought I had seen bad driving until I got into the passenger seat of an 18 wheeler. It was absolutely shocking to see how little people know about the capabilities and limitations of a truck, as well as the blatant inconsideration shown towards truckies. Truckies drive large, heavy and difficult to manoeuvre vehicles everyday for often very long hours, whereas most personal vehicle owners only have to drive to and from work and during leisure (which by the way truckies STILL have to do after they've knocked-off work). So who do you think has a better understanding of how to operate a vehicle and has a more intimate knowledge of the the roads: an experienced/veteran truckie, or a yuppie in a rush to get home from the office. It is much easier for a car to change it's position on the road and we should be accommodating for trucks, not the other way round.
cobaltace62 I lived in L.A. a couple of years - back in the 80s - and I thought honestly they were pretty good drivers, especially since Southern California is all about the automobile. In St. Louis, the drivers are rude bastards but they DO seem to control their cars well. And the average American housewife can back an SUV the size of most European apartments into a tight parking space at top speed. I've been in the truck when it happened.

I was impressed with the very cool, matter of fact way he spoke about it .... Man with decency
Too right - props to them. Several of the other fuckwits on the road clearly have a death wish
Except the driver at 2:10 who almost killed the people behind him
@@Johnny-Joseph yes also fuck that guy. I’m here handing out “fuck yous” to anyone being a dickhead
There's something oddly hilarious about a truck driver nearly totalling his vehicle with 'Teenage Dream' by Katy Perry raging in the background.
Quarker "OH FUCKING HELL!" Hahahahahaha I'm dead! 😂😂😂
That driver was a Moron, music blaring, really wet westgate freeway, cars coming in from millers road, and then riding up there ass going to fast... that was all the truck driver that one.
Quarker
Barbie
They merged onto the highway and hit their brakes in front of him.
The truck driver at 2:06 has made a number of mistakes here before the start of the accident:
- He started overtaking another truck on the left (which in this case also boxed him in)
- He allowed himself to get very close to the car in front of him
- All this with poor visibility and a wet road surface
I don't know exactly why the car in front slowed down but in a sense, it doesn't matter, he only slowed slightly. It might have been brake checking as some have suggested or it might have been that one of the common bits of advice for being tailgated is to gradually slow down to make the tailgater back off. The car might also have seen something ahead of concern.
Overall, almost entirely the truck drivers fault.
"Don't ever look back, don't ever look back."
Agreed. Although the white car should have either sped up and switched lanes, or keep driving the same speed limit
Definitely not drivers fault. The car in front had already got up to speed by the time it merged, the last thing you do while on a highway is brake.
Props to the last driver
He did a great job. Respect to that guy 👏
He did an outstanding job at evaluating that situation.

the question begs if those eyes are connected to the brain.
@Al Castill nah mate, its connected to their ass

Inattentional blindness.

John McMahon because drivers in Australia lack intellect.. no brains.. they simply don't care.
Extremely cynical advise by the police if it's real. But makes sense.
That's so awesome mate.
John S it’s the same idea as car drivers not causing accidents by swerving to save a rabbit running in front of your car.
Good advice mate!!!
Ohh, I was trying to work out what happened in that clip, didn't realise that the driver got brake checked.
I love the guy at 1:20 with his ‘well done!’
half a sec later "what happened there" my guess the truck in the right hand lane was most likely a straight ahead only lane, and the car in the left lane was a straight ahead or turn left lane got nailed
@@dampaul13 It is law that a truck is allowed to take up multiple lanes to make the turn
Guy at the ends a hero, hope his company compensated him for the damages and extra for being a quality human.
They invented that a while ago.. it's called insurance.
you would hope! but im not sure how a typical claimant would deal with this scenario! he never made contact, he just swerved off damaging his own truck. hopefully his insurance/company insurance covers semi at fault (in the eyes of the law) stuff like this.

Poor truck driver though. He has to get his truck out of the ditch while the person he saved drives off.
Hope the last truckie had the driver of the Subaru pay his tow and recovery costs
How do these people live through one day, let alone pass their driving exams? They just run straight into the truck, no special circumstances.

When I lived outback the blinker was always what I waited for
They are higher and can see further down the road then I
If my turn was the next left I’d just pull back and put my lefty on
Not that hard, some people just don’t seem to understand math and physics the truck can not stop that fast if you merge into it’s stopping zone in wet weather no less and then break your gonna get hit or the truck is gonna soon out trying to stop aye
The last guy is a life saver. God bless him!

Or perhaps go get one instead of retire.
Wtf.

Don't make excuses for incidents you haven't witnessed he may live in an area with a lot of truck movement for construction and they dont look when exiting a site , why must car drivers yield to trucks every time , most car drivers don't drive as a job where as in truck drivers do it for a living so there the professional and should be driving more responsibly than the average joe blow ,
i witness trucks constantly going through orange and red lights and its not because they cant stop as they are going pretty slow when it happens which in turn prevents other vehicles from going about there business when its there turn (trucks included) if they dont like the length of the green light petition the local govt dept to extend them
Dont ever bothering trying to argue a point again because you are terrible at it.

Instead of having their eyes up pointed as far ahead along the curve as possible, they stare straight at the centre line right in front of them and wonder why that's where they end up going!
goatee01 because that's a retarded idea.
The driver of the car is a drongo. Theres a extra 0.5m past the unbroken line on the right that he could drive on if he understeers. Instead, he oversteers and drives into the truck.
1:28. It's like the SUV driver intentionally aimed his trailer into that truck.
This is gold. A little bit of natural selection
3:00 is the most purest example of where the term _"Fucking Volvo Driver!"_ comes from.
It's probably an old person, those ones that simply drive everywhere at 20km/h not stopping at any give way signs

The car was in the trucks blind spot.
It is much easier for a car to change it's position on the road and we should be accommodating for trucks, not the other way round.
eFeFeX Are you trying to say it was the guy in the cars fault?

Hats off to the truck & dogg operator at the end of this for basically saving those idiots lives. The amount of stress these truckies go through it's unreal 👍
At 2:50 hes at goomeri, surprised its not packed, whenever I've been there it's full of cars and people
Last truckie - LEGEND!
The last one shows the true heart some truck drivers have. He didn’t need to move over and could have let the head on happen but did the right thing
5:43 "DOOR STUCK! DOOR STUCK!"
PLEASE I BEG YOU, WE'RE DEAD YO I'm adding this guy to friends
sorry to dissapoint He’s screaming “ALL STOP! ALL STOP! ALL STOP!” There was likely a convoy behind him, as he talks to them
@@RN-19924 We know mate, he's referencing this

thank you! I knew it sounded like something but couldn't figure it out and thought I never would.
@@RN-19924 I'm not sure but it sounds like it's an "oh shit!" button or something that you press and it plays a funny "oh shit!" line
That poor Truckee at the end… Felt his fear of how stupidity almost kills so many on our roads. I wish people would learn to understand that overtaking trucks needs extra attention and patience.
3:14 brilliant evasive driving from the white van
Yeah, in that one case the truck appeared to be at fault, having PIT'ed the car...
In true Australian government fashion I will respond to the video :
INCREASE LAWS, INCREASE FINES, ALL PERFORMANCE VEHICLE OWNERS MUST DIE, NEW FINES, EVERY K OVER IS A KILLER SO WE'RE HANDING OUT 100 MORE SPEED TRAPS, HERE'S A DEFECT FOR YOUR EMPTY WASHER BOTTLE.
Thank you citizens.
Thanks for looking after us common folk, minister.
TheNewEuropeFourteenWords Absolutely no problem citizen of Australia... now that's a $200 fine. Whilst I'm here I'm going to have to make sure your vehicles roof lining is properly secured.
That's all Australia does. Make new stupid laws to protect the dumb cunts. "Idiocracy" the movie nailed it. Only stupid people are breeding.
Arnold Barry Yep then they pull the wool over our eyes saying "it's protecting Australia" lol what a piss take.. Yeah mate my car having a slightly blue interior light is causing murders on our street. 😂
yep yep and yep.
Fkn legend the last trucker.
Wow! did not expect that when lining up at roadworks!
So glad these are all in australia, FACK MUIE is music to my ears
I mean the channel is "Dashcam Owners Australia" so you could expect them to be in Australia
If it weren't for the accents, you'd swear this is footage from Russia.
no crashes happen in US?
***** I'm sure there are tons of crashes in the states. Difference is, the insurance companies don't require you to have a dashcam.
*****
neither do they require one to have a brain and unbiased mind
***** I'm sensing I've hit some sort of nerve with you?
blyat XD
3:10
One near miss isn't good enough, I need another. 😂
People do it at that intersection daily bunch of muppets
The final truckie deserves a medal
The incident with the old volvo at 3:05 is at Gympie Qld on the Bruce Highway. This part of the Bruce through Gympie is notorious for bad drivers causing accidents. These truckers are probably happy the Gympie bypass is nearly done so to avoid the Gympie drivers.
