I remember back in 82 when I got the album, I was 18. Open the package - it's good size. Get your vinyl album put in on the turntable etc..... My old band used to do Red Barchetta! Such a fun song to drum to! We had a female singer (who played keys too) and a great Bass player and guitarist. Super fun song!
One of Rush's best. And LOOK AT YOU! Listening with a beautiful lady listening with you???! You're a fortunate man, be grateful for that! Best wishes to you both! Like this channel!
There’s a few songs on moving pictures that weren’t on cinema strangiato. Definitely finish moving pictures now guys then move onto a farewell to kings and move forward so you can hear how rush’s style changed
Well you guys, this was a great song.. I am proud to say that I am from the city where the professor was born. There's a song called Lakeside Park if you ever listen to it. It's in my home town. The Professor used to go there as people still do to this day. It's a great summer spot in this area. I miss the professor, he was such a great man! If you get a chance to read a book he wrote about his trip through the back roads on his BMW Motorcycle , it's a great read, it's called "Far and Wide". Love your reactions always you two! Keep em coming!
Thanks for another fun ride with the ultimate power trio. I wish they were all still here and putting out music but I am also very grateful for all the excellent music that they have blessed us with. Great reaction guys.
This song was so good live. Rush always has a huge screen behind them when they played and during the part where it feels like you are driving fast they had a winding road on the big screen. Twisting and turn like you were flying down the road. Really mesmerizing .
I was 14 when this album came out I can remember it was huge it seemed like everybody was saying you HAVE to listen to this! I saw them live in 1982, 1997 and 2010(the Time Machine tour where they played Moving Pictures in its entirety)...always a fantastic show
This is one of my favorite Rush songs. Alex's guitar harmonics are so tasty and I have always loved the power they generated. Great review, my friends.
🤘🏼🎧🤟🏼 Yeah! Love this song so much - great reaction as always - and if I could send a note back to my adolescent self it would be “Do NOT put Red Barchetta 🚘 on that morning drive tape, or you will get stopped by the cops in front of school.”
Perfect songwriting. The economy of words used in this song to tell the story is remarkable. Every word matters, and the music evokes all the right emotional tapestries..
Moving Pictures is arguably a near-perfect rock album. It really doesn't have any weak songs, and the audio engineering was top-notch to the point it still holds up amazingly well. Even the original vinyl pressing was superb. When I was young..."My uncle has a breakfast place that no one knows about, He says it used to be a bar before the liquor law. Now on Sundays I elude the fries and buy the breakfast plate, not far outside the wild my frosted donut waits!" :-D
The ultimate driving song. I once got a ticket for doing 160 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone while listening to Red Barchetta. It just takes you over & pulls you into the song. Thankfully, the cop dropped it down to 120 in a 100, lol.
🤣 I've seen so many bands, famous & not famous, in Rochester 🤦🏿♀️ and still can't find it on a map! 😊 It was always "Wanna go see fill-in-the-blank?" 🤷🏿♀️ As long as I kept my grades up and made to class on time the next day, mom would give me $ to go. 🤔 Jersey & Long Island were like that too back in the day. "Wanna go to a Bar/Bat Mitzvah for fill-in classmate name?" is how I saw Billy Joel the first time. And I think 🤔 a sweet 16 party was how I first saw Bruce Springsteen. 😂 He sounded like an old man even in his early 20's. 😁 The good old days.... 😒 Like REALLY old days before jobs & life meant I pay for my own concert tickets now! I'm so old, I'm officially retired! 😛 DOH'! 😁🐰
Hi Nick and Lex, I’m an ER doctor struggling through this pandemic, and I just want you to know that watching your reaction videos is like therapy for me during these dark times. I’m a lifelong Rush fan, and your reactions to their music bring me a little bit of joy each time I tune in. Have you reacted yet to Mission from Hold Your Fire? I’d love to see what you think of it.
Thank you for the work you do everyday! Your kind words really made our day and make us feel like we're giving something back to you for what you do. We haven't heard that tune yet but we plan to! Stay safe, Lex
The greatest driving song ever written. The melody and time signatures go with driving a manual sports car down a mountain road as perfectly as The Trooper matches a cavalry charge. The point just before the guitar solo, where the sound expands with a "woosh" is coming out of the twisties, (the staccato part just before,) onto the long downhill straight that drops you down onto the valley floor, as the hills angle away on both sides, and the valley opens up across your windshield.
@John Ladd The song was inspired by the futuristic short story "A Nice Morning Drive, written by Richard Foster and published in the November 1973 issue of Road & Track magazine.
@John Ladd I used to collect Rush radio interview shows (Off the Record, In the Studio, King Biscuit, Rockline, etc.) back in the 1990s. I obtained or recorded about 100 or so when I stopped to be a "responsible adult". I recall Neil discussing it on one or more of them, but couldn't remember date or magazine. A quick Google search refreshed my memory. One of the more important pieces of history in the evolution of man. ;)
Also...a week ago for one night only, there was a Rush concert documentary in theaters called Cinema Strangiato. If it ever comes back out whatever you do...do not miss it. Absolutely amazing.
Thanks for reacting to this guys! Good timing as Neil would have turned 70 this past Sunday and this is one of his most visually provoking songs, lyrically. Love the channel, keep the Rush coming!
Hey guys! Wow! I’m so sorry you haven’t heard this before. This has been a favorite of mine for 40 years. Saw the concert in Seattle in 1981. One of my favorite shows EVER! One of the things I’ve always liked about RUSH is a lot of their songs are a story, thanks in large part to Neil Peart. Thanks again for what you guys do! 🎸
It's always fun, watching others liking your personal favourite music :-) You won't believe, but I could sing along, I remembered each single word .... I never did it loud, because I'm a terrible singer ... The song also brought up memories: I'm sitting in the basement of my parents house in our party room, just me and Rush, listening to the music, reading the lyrics ... and here we are 40 years later and the music is still as great as it always was, simply timeless ...
Awesome reaction to one of my favorite rush songs! Like many of their songs it’s so transporting that you almost feel like you’re there with these guys enjoying a great ride in this awesome car with them. Okay so I’m not always a big proponent of covers but in this case I definitely made an exception because of the musicians involved. Please do yourself a favor and checkout the cover of this song by some of your other favorite musicians. Mike Portnoy, Steve Morse, James LaBrie and Sean Malone (bass) did a cover of this back in ‘96 and did a fantastic job. They did an awesome tribute to the band while still changing up a few things. It’s also yet another example of just how versatile these guys are between different styles. For me it’s still kind of surreal hearing LaBrie do a great job covering Geddy’s vocals. There’s even some similarities in their tones at times that so hadn’t noticed until this cover. Hope you enjoy! Here’s the link to the studio version… ruclips.net/video/hP27sx9XE7M/видео.html
Awesome to see you react to Red Barchetta. For me, this is the song where I was driving along and it comes on the radio and after a few minutes I look up and I'm going way over the speed limit. It has such a driving sound that it propels you along .
This song and Limelight are responsible for me buying a bass. A couple of my guitar magazines had the tab for Limelight and Red Barchetta. I was working on Limelight, but started reading along with the bass line and it blew me away. I went out and bout a cheap $75 bass and learned both songs. I’m pretty sure I know more Rush songs on bass than guitar.
Hemispheres is also an album that must be listened to from beginning to end to really appreciate the whole experience. It's like one complete statement
Hi, a great reaction to such a brilliant track. The album "Moving Pictures" see's Geddy Lees vocals becoming smoother which is also what happened to Brian Ferry of Roxy Music. Big difference with early albums then years later. Enjoy now listening to the whole album and just wait till you hear "Witch Hunt" a very poignant & atmospheric track that links centuries ago attitudes to today's and is an incredible track. Geddy's vocals - Omg ! - If you get a chance have a listen to "By -Tor & the Snow Dog", from the live album "All the Worlds a Stage"....Alex Lifeson is awesome ! Byeee ! X
You still need to hear ELP. "The Barbarian", It's the first song on the first album they made. Then, If you don't have "Led Boots", you could "Come Dancing" with me and Jeff Beck, if "You Know What I Mean".
Thank you so much for doing this one. All the elements are there and it exemplifies musical excellence as Rush always does. The 7/4 time shift during the guitar solo is just so great!
Good decision seeing the R40 tour. RUSH was amazing live. My first RUSH concert was Power Windows and I never missed a tour after that. (and starting with R30 I usually went to any show within motorcycle distance)

My nephew and I used to jam out to this in my lanai - because I loved sharing with the neighbors... Anyway, he had only been playing bass for to years and self taught really. The first time I played the harmonics at the point when the bass comes in he looked at me strange and said how do those sound so high with your hand way down around the second fret - he knew about natural harmonics but not how to play artificial harmonics. :)
Found you two whilst on a trip to the Twin Cities this past weekend. Spent the majority of the five hour drive home binging your RUSH stuff and now moving on to Pat Metheny and others. How I didn’t find you two sooner, I have no clue. Great stuff, love watching you discover/rediscover everything these three have to offer. Reminds me of myself when I first delved on in, now I’m a “Rushan” for life, as you both are. 😂 There are so many more I could pitch, but I’ll limit to one, for now, lol. Ya’ll already did “Ghost of a Chance” off of “Roll The Bones”. Ya’ll gotta do the title track. So, damn, good. People love to bash it because of a certain experiment they did with the song, but I love it. It was one of the songs that turned me into RUSH when I was young, and it’s still one of my staple favorites. Give it a listen, trust me. 🤟

One of Rush's best. And LOOK AT YOU! Listening with a beautiful lady listening with you???! You're a fortunate man, be grateful for that! Best wishes to you both! Like this channel!
That's a cool tee shirt, Nick! Red Barchetta is a blast! Perfect Prog-Rock but with a fun, Pop appeal!
There’s a few songs on moving pictures that weren’t on cinema strangiato. Definitely finish moving pictures now guys then move onto a farewell to kings and move forward so you can hear how rush’s style changed
I never get tired of your Rush reactions. Love you guys...
Good ole Pt Dalhouise
@@tuff2playmeover19 you betcha!! Great place!
@@kirkrock7285 still 5cents for a ride too
Thanks for another fun ride with the ultimate power trio.
😳😒😂 I still see that visually in my head everytime I hear this song! 😁🐰
@@cityhonors1 Me too.
Another fun reaction!
I really enjoy you both, and I love your open mindedness with music...keep up the great reactions!☮☮☮❣
Wow, I just realized I don't think I've seen you two react to The Analog Kid by Rush yet!! Do it! You will absolutely LOVE The Analog Kid!
The ultimate driving song. I once got a ticket for doing 160 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone while listening to Red Barchetta. It just takes you over & pulls you into the song. Thankfully, the cop dropped it down to 120 in a 100, lol.
I saw them in concert twice, Permanent Waves in Rochester NY, and Moving Pictures in Chicago. No one does it better!
😛 DOH'! 😁🐰
rush fan for 33 years. saw them 4 times live. started drumming in 1990 because of neil peart.
Witch Hunt should be the next one off this album if you haven't heard it.
Don't forget Vital Signs!
The point just before the guitar solo, where the sound expands with a "woosh" is coming out of the twisties, (the staccato part just before,) onto the long downhill straight that drops you down onto the valley floor, as the hills angle away on both sides, and the valley opens up across your windshield.
the ability for Neil to write a 3-4 minute song that encapsulates a whole book is incredible. his lyrics are unmatched.
It was actually a magazine article, but your point is still valid. No one wrote rock lyrics with more meaning than Neil.
i’m pretty sure it was a book/ magazine article called “ the motor law”.
@John Ladd The song was inspired by the futuristic short story "A Nice Morning Drive, written by Richard Foster and published in the November 1973 issue of Road & Track magazine.
nice research. I love Rush nerdism.
I think it was 69 Dave.
@@davideddolls4738 Yep, you're correct
Would love to see your reaction to the group Styx. You might start with Crystal Ball.
What a great song. Musically, lyrically, lots of feeling and storytelling.
Hey guys! 🎸
Another great review by you guys. Rush is simply the greatest band of all time!
alex's little solos and 'rushes' between choruses sound like seeing trees rushing past the windows!
Here’s the link to the studio version…

This is about my 2 or 300th time hearing it since the early 80s, one of my favorite songs to see them do live, never get tired of hearing it.
Mark of a truly great track. It never gets old. Outstanding choice and reaction.
Your Rush reactions are really awesome. And this is definitely one of my favorite Rush songs. Keep them coming, you’ve got a long way to go.
I love how Geddy's bass leads the melody, and the guitar accompanies. It is a testament to their musical dexterity.
Byeee ! X
I second Bytor from All the world's a stage. With a single guitar, Alex takes us to places we didn't even know existed. It's remarkable.
You still need to hear ELP. "The Barbarian", It's the first song on the first album they made. Then, If you don't have "Led Boots", you could "Come Dancing" with me and Jeff Beck, if "You Know What I Mean".
Time for you two to start the Signals album. Every song is great but Chemistry, Losing it, and Countdown are my faves.
Because of this song.. I want an old pre war race car as my daily driven..
Superb song..
Both music and lyrics are written really well.
What a band!
My favorite Rush song. Must be listened to while zipping down the interstate at 70 mph!
Funny thing bout this song is the ease at which they take the listener repeatedly into and out of 7/4 & 4/4. Cheers guys. 🎵🤘😎🤘🍁🦋🌿❤
MonsterSound: OK, class, today we shall learn about compound time.
Your professor, Dr. Peart, with a PhD in Grooveology, will be your instructor.
Thank you so much for doing this one. All the elements are there and it exemplifies musical excellence as Rush always does. The 7/4 time shift during the guitar solo is just so great!
una banda legendaria . la escucho desde la adolescencia y ten 60 años. felicitaciones chicos.
Good decision seeing the R40 tour. RUSH was amazing live. My first RUSH concert was Power Windows and I never missed a tour after that. (and starting with R30 I usually went to any show within motorcycle distance)
So. Much. Good. 🤗🙃🥰 Great reaction. Glad that film lit a fire 🔥 Thanks and 🎂🥳 !! ✨🤪
Awesome reaction, thank you! You guys haven't touched the album fly by night yet, Neil's first album with them, Bytor and the snow dog has been my request initially because I'm convinced you 2 will LOVE IT! So again, check out Bytor and the snow dog, lol, Love your RUSH reactions
Great reaction guys! I'm a huge Rush fan since I. was a teenager.
And their showmanship is second to none! And I know from other concert goers that they see what I am feeling!
Its magical!
And I really enjoyed your reaction!
I. know you liked them as much as I do and thats wonderful!
Looking forward to this reaction. This is one of my favorite songs off the Moving Pictures album.
👍👍👍👍
Best driving song ever!
Windows down, sunroof open, winding country road, flooring it
My nephew and I used to jam out to this in my lanai - because I loved sharing with the neighbors...
There are so many more I could pitch, but I’ll limit to one, for now, lol. 🤟
Thanks for joining us and for taking the time to comment and suggest!
We recently watched Cinema Strangiato and I cried with Roll the Bones so I can't wait to react to it and listen to the studio version after watching the live performance on the movie. Thanks again and welcome! :) - Lex
Music/lyrrics perfect complement, and a perfect wind down in the outro.
Great reaction guys, but here's hoping you do more U.K. with Allan Holdsworth. You gotta hear the rest of that album. It's some of the best Prog Rock you'll ever hear 🙂
One of my favorite Rush songs, I always love to drive to it when I’m on the open road.👍🔥🎧🤘🏻
So glad you reacted to this. 👍💕👍💕👍💕
This is a classic RUSH piece. Great movement in the changes/bridges. Last call for Plini.
We are.patiently waiting for the Dirty Loops reacts to start... You will be blown away!!!
Still hoping for you guys to dive into the Caress of Steel album! The Necromancer! 😊
COS! IMHO, just another true Rush masterpiece and MY personal favorite ( like it’s possible to have a “favorite “ from the best band in the galaxy).🤣✌️
@@TommyLMason Ya brother! Caress of Steel is my favorite Album from Rush bigtime!
