Um they mentioned the old guardians of the galaxy in the new movie pretty sure referencing yondu of being apart of it. I give the movie a 7.5/10 b/c well humor and references.
This video right here is proof that people don't care if the characters look like their comic book counterparts, act like them, or even have the same origin as them. They only care that the movie is "good".
And that's fine, as long as people will just admit it, and I don't have to hear another argument about how "that's not what they're like in the comics".

As for #9, there is specifically a moment where Drax says that "It is Thanos that I really must kill" and assumes that Thanos is ultimately responsible for his family's death, so I would argue that he also hates Thanos in the movies.
Jason Twister I'm actually hoping that his daughter, Heather was taken in by Thanos and raised as his telepathic warrior daughter under the name Moondragon. If they are introducing 2 new members in the next movie they have to be Adam and Heather(plus Cosmo running sit-ops)

Also didn't drax undergo a couple of major reboots over the years. I thought his origin was changed at some point to more closely match the movie.

I think the reason that it's not a big deal gotg deviates from the source material is that Gunn is a diehard comic book fan himself, so he knows how to respect the stories and characters while deviating enough to add extra dimensions to everything.

At the end of the first guardians movie, when Star Lord is reading the note from his mother, she calls him his little "Star Lord", so in a way, they do explain it.

Quill's father wasn't the emperor of Spartax at the time of meeting his mother, he was the heir, or their Starlord. Hence how Quill got the name.
You actually find out how Star-Lord got his name in the first movie. He kept that letter that his mom gave to him before she died and kept it with his Awesome-Mix Vol. 2. I'm pretty sure he'd opened it before he does in the actual movie and kept that nickname.
The fact that Guardians of the Galaxy was not as popular as other Marvel characters, most people (even comic book lovers) didn't mind the change. It was too entertaining.

In the film we actually do find out how he became starlord. When reading a letter from his mom she mentioned him as "my little starlord." It was what she called him in reference that his dad is from the stars.

I watched volume 2 opening weekend. It's hard to imagine, but I enjoyed that one better. Awesome Mix vol. 2 is even more awesome.
You forgot 1: Drax is a badass martial artist and master knife fighter in the books while in the movies, other than the prison fight, not nearly as close.

I was hoping to see Corsair and the star jammers in GoG#2. I realize that's an X-Men story. But who cares, they're in space. Maybe the Shi'ar or Gladiator. Maybe throw a hint to the Brood while they're at it.

Whoa I think mojo needs to dig more about starlord origins, cuz the one they talked about in the video is based on the comics today , but there's a startlord comic 1979 "starlord marvel preview #4" so they should've started from way back on the late 70s
it does tell u why peter calls himself start lord, that is the nickname given to him by his mother, she calls him "my little starlord"
in the letter she writes him with the second mix tape that he gets at the end of the film.
Forgot to mention that for a time Ben Grimm/Thing, Flash Thompson/Agent Venom and Tony Stark/Iron Man were members of the comic team as well as the X-Men's Kitty Pryde taking over as Star-Lord and leader when Peter was crowned King of Spartoi. In the comics his father was the exiled J'son, Prince of Spartoi aka Mister Knife and quite an asshole. In the movie it's Ego aka The Living Planet (Why they made that change is baffling.)
There are a lot of characters not mentioned like Mantis, Moondragon, Angela, Nova, Jack Flag, Adam Warlock and does everyone remember the cute puppy in the NASA spacesuit? That Cosmo, and he was a member too.

in the movie we do know where star-lord's name comes from, his mother used to call him that as a term of endearment

Peter Quill's father in the comic was a alien human from Planet Spartax called Jason. And another thing they didnt touch on is Mantis is that she was evil but karate master fighting woman. Who had telekinesis as her ability and she was part of a religious cult called The Believers.

Originally Star Lord didn't have a father...he was an "immaculate birth" when certain planets came into alingment...because of the contreversy with "someone" else who had an immaculate birth they retconned his origin to be the offspring of a Spartax
The Disney XD cartoon series explains a few of these.
