    You might actually be my favorite composer even though you don't compose for my instrument. Well done, sir

    This is a score for a movie playing in my head. A gentle cello and we're set.

    This made for eerily perfect background noise as I researched the Leningrad seed vault for my podcast -- a dozen scientists starved to death while protecting thousands of varieties of seeds from around the world as the Germans sieged the city for nearly 3 years.

    Herman, why do you choose "eighth-quarter-quarter-eighth" in the left hand opposed to the tied eighth-note version?
    Just curious. I believe your way is clearer for the reader, but I once had a professor in college explain that the beat should always be shown.

    • @charmonicmajor
      @charmonicmajor 4 года назад +9

      Not Herman, but oh well-
      It depends how you view it because it's in 3/4 time. In 2/4 and 4/4, the similar eighth-quarter-eighth idea is pretty common. In these, beats 1 and 3 should always be shown, but in 3/4, there is a little more ambiguity because you can feel it in one or in three

      @@charmonicmajor Nicely put!
      I studied a good bit of conducting in college (I understand the triple meter for 3/4 being felt in three or one- generally three for a slower tempo and one for a quicker tempo.)
      Makes sense with the stronger beats (1 and 3) to always be visible in the part. I suppose Herman understood that the downbeat in 1/3 is most important. Counts 2 and 3 are weaker.

      I do understand Hermann's view. This way of writing gives a right syncopation in the bar. It reminds me of extra systolic rhythm of the heart. The first strong beat is divided I two the third beat is in movement with with the first beat a way to keep the rhythm tied together. Thank you.

      @@francobonanni218 Thanks for your reply, Franco. I'd definitely prefer this E-Q-Q-E part over the tied version any day, I was simply curious. Thanks again!

    Can you please compose an easier piece similar, to “the lake” I really love your music but I’m not the best at piano, I’d really love a piece that is a little easier to play

  • @lisasexammusicoriginalcomp5861

    When you write your music is alot of it in a pentatonic scale??

    Why are there so many atonal composers? Your music feels genuine. Inspired. I like it. I have a sting quartet on my channel. Id be curios to see what you think of the 1st movement, if you have the time of course. Hope you are well and healthy. Really digging your compositions. Thanks for uploading the scores too! I have the same for my music too. I think its so cool to share what you actually wrote. It gives me more clarity to your musical ideas. David Bruce does this sometimes too.
