That flautist... Their lungs must be ENORMOUS! They take a breath in measure 105, and just keep that note at the end for what feels like HOURS!
Incredible musicians playing an amazing score. This is going straight in my playlist of instrumental music.
I know this is a late reply but she probably does Circular Breathing. It's an advanced technique for wind players where you breath in through your nose and store spare air in your cheeks. When you run out of breath you use the air in your cheeks and breath in from the nose making you able to achieve very very long passages and notes without a pause for breath!
I'm trying to learn it myself but I've broke my hand so flute playing is on hold at the moment 😅

Not playing my flute has been a killer! I'm also a really crafty person and I cant do that either, my dr has said I can start doing scales/arpeggios for 5-10mins now

@@MsBettyRubble Hi! Unfortunately I will need more surgery once my bone is 100% healed to take out my plates/screws because they’re making my finger unable to bend at the base knuckle and then my tendon is stuck to scar tissue too so they’re need to free that. I’m definitely recovering though and I’ll be playing again in no time and training towards my diploma piece! The downside is that it can take a lot of months for my type of break to heal but I’m only 21 so it should heal a bit faster because I’m so young.
Gives me time to get my flute fixed up too, it’s in dire need of a service! I’m planning to do that as soon as I get back to college after Christmas break (I’m a second year woodwind repair student so I can do it myself now :D )
i’m playing this at my next recital cannot wait! The emotion that this piece brings in incredible i’ve never felt so attacked to a piece thank you for creating such amazing music

I love how you write parts for Flutes that aren't always up in the higher range, but also in lowest, it's not common that the Flute gets to play lower notes, usually we get the super high notes

It’s not common right. But different composer has it style. Why you need to comment about that? All the notes are the notes that can be played. I believe that he used the low notes to have a disparate feeling.

@@qixiang When do you feel you have the right to tell someone what they can comment about. It is true. That is a good thing to tell. Flutists don't have a lot of low notes in their repertoire.
I love songs with low notes! It adds that low texture to the melody and we don't always play fast high notes; sometimes they can be low and fast.

There is a whole new depth of knowledge that I have gained of this piece after taking on the flute solo. I can not only hear but I can feel the opposing force ( the storm ) in my heart as I play. Absolutely magnificent, outstanding job!

I really loved this piece but could you write something for more intermediate flute players? (Grade7)
Out of curiosity is the flute part supposed to be mostly slurred or articulated? It sounds slurred in the piece but isnt written that way. Is it just up to interpretation?
Martha P Yes definitely all slurred, like the recording. I did write “Legato” but you’re right for safety it’s good to add the slurs. I will add at some point. Thank you!

@@lisasexammusicoriginalcomp5861 I know triplets can be a problem, did you try having less bars in the staff? Sometimes it’s too crowded and not enough space for the triplet brackets.

Bernard Daigle Yes, I put legato, so all phrases slurred (as in the recording). Staccato is marked where needed.

I Just Recently Found your work, I have to say I find it refreshing compared to a lot of the contemporary composers who's works if find generally quite awful with the excessive use of dissonance and melodies that aren't pretty, where as with your work you have actual melodies that sound pretty and not like a bunch of random notes being played.
I discovered your music a few months ago after my grade 8 exam, I've just bought Storm and am learning it for a competition in July - I'm 100% loving it. Such a fantastic piece of music. Thank you so much for this !!! 🙂🤗

Honestly, all of his songs are fun to listen to but also great as background for studying or so, absolutely perfect.

I played that with a piano accompaniment in a chich and it sounds so brilliant made and i really like the dynamics the structure also how the culmiation hits when its the time for teh storm part and it really sends this contrast and everythig is just brilliant cn u make also romantic theme song for flute and piano i would love to play it :)

All the music I have played so far has either been TOO easy or TOO hard, and I have always been more advanced in my class since I have been playing harder music (3rd year, 8th grade) but this song is challenging but I am going to practice it, and I will achieve it. This song is perfect because yet it is challenging, but not unachievable. This is the type of song I was looking for, thanks! Also, twilight is probably my favorite slow song I have ever heard.

tlv music Mostly by improvising on piano first until I find a theme I am happy with. Then develop and fine tune on paper.

Tony Lin Yes, definitely slurred. I marked it as Legato at the start but it’s probably better to add the slurs. Sorry about that.
