There is NO room for Micro Managing at all unless you want to lose your valuable, loyal staff which is happening all too often. Encouragement and reward is the best way forward for production and a happier work place.

micromanaging a noob is understandable. but micromanaging an experienced employee (especially if the boss is the noob) is bad

Problem is a micromanager only needs to know 5% of your job to know more than you do

Manager pays attention to your work does NOT mean that he cares about you. He cares only about company's profits.

Supportive guidance always aims at making you take on more responsibility. Micromanagement means always controlling you because of fear or insecurity of the boss. It has no aim and it leads nowhere.

A work place should be fun for everyone. That doesn't mean lazy and hiding. I work for a micro prick company. People with clipboards and calculators follow me and count the steps I take to get from here and there and back again. They jot down the people I talk to at the hour and minutes and seconds. Do they also record how much Windex and toilet paper I use? If the employees are happy then the employer is happy.

I've been working for my dad for 20 years and he'll be up at 3 a.m texting me reminders to make sure I do certain tasks that I've done a million times. I've also been on the actual jobs 1000's of times more than him. He doesn't know the difference between managing and micromanaging.

Yup enabling someone to become responsible thats what management is in initial state.
If u are responsible still someone is micromanaging you , then that person is only causing trouble.

When you micromanage, you actively show a lack of trust in your employees. Micromanagement makes it look like you don't trust your employees, you don't believe they are competent, and like you don't want them to do their jobs.

A micromanager is never going to help the company retain staff members. People will leave because of a manager who picks at every small detail. I know because I’ve done that. A micromanager will make you dread every second of your job, make you question your own abilities, and make you feel like no matter how hard you work, you’re not performing well enough. It’s easier to find a new job than to change a person’s management style.

Micromanagement is a tool exerted by bosses, not leaders. Leaders motivate and trust their employees. They know the importance of each one in the team. It is pretty rare to find a leader nowadays. Specially because lots of these companies are production oriented, not creativity. You don't have room for mistakes and numbers are more important than ideas. I think all FANGs, for example, in the near future are doomed to failure, it is just a matter of time.

Solution: Tell me the outcome you want. Back TF up with how I get there….as long as my team and I are working, do not over scrutinize each step I take if there are no issues and if I’m communicating our productivity

I have just started my first job. The woman is trying to train me I couldn’t put my finger on the word until now but she’s a micromanaging b***ch. She doesn’t want to do it now as it’s taking her time and cutting into her workload 😂😂😂😂 looks like I won’t be there long....wonder what excuse they will make to get rid of me!??
