I am a full-time Mastersmith knifemaker, and I love my job! I specialize in forged fixed blade knives and also make many other types of beautiful knives.
In March of 2007, I went to the W.F. Moran School of Bladesmithing in Old Washington, Arkansas where I took a two week class on Intro to Bladesmithing under ABS Mastersmiths Bert Gaston and Greg Neely. This is where I learned how to make a blade that would pass the ABS Journeyman Smith Performance Test, after that I took a class on Handles and Guards under ABS Mastersmith Jim Walker where I learned how to make handles out of stag, exotic woods and many other materials.
In June, 2011 I received my Mastersmith Stamp at the Atlanta BLADE Show. Now that I have been granted my MS certification I have a desire to expand my field and continue learning and teaching what I learn, God has given me all the opportunities and teachers that I’ve had and I thank Him for giving me the ability to do something I love.
Follow me on this journey!
Thanks for watching
Enjoy!

We will be showing the knife fully assembled in the next video. Thanks for your understanding! :D
The whole thing is extraordinarily beautiful and very much a flawless work of art, It is indeed the best start to finish rendering I've ever seen on RUclips. You are a master smith hands down there is no doubting that.
My favorite part of the Bowie is all of it..... but if I had to choose , it would be the butt end / pommel nut. When this thing is in a sheath and that nut with the gold dots is showing, you know there's a thing of beauty hiding inside. The pommel nut is the crown that brings all pieces together.
I'd like to point out, each part and design is as essentially important to the whole construction and look as each part compliments the one positioned next to it.
KyleRoyerKnives Ha!! I was like why the hell didn’t he show more of the knife?! 😂😂 Beautiful perfection on the knife btw. I love the depth and contrast of the etch.
I understand what you do takes time and talent!!!
I would really love the opportunity to work with you sometime; even work for you as an apprentice. I like your style and the results speak for themselves. Your vibe and approach to each project would really test my skills and patience providing an invaluable experience to improve; it is a personal dream to work on high quality blades and hand tools using a setup like yours in the same environment. It is amazing to see high quality work combining creative design with practical function built to last; in this day and age when there are so many economy grade mediocre products around lacking any feeling or real meaning. The things you make honestly could find a home in a museum and be appreciated by people for thousands of years. Please teach me.
Have you tried using buffing compound and a buffing wheel meant for use on cars?
one of the best smithing channels on youtube, amazing work!!
Holy honk!
My favorite bit is the bluing. I've never seen such a deep black pearl color before. Bloody brilliant.
me too! that's what jumped out at me. it looks like polished obsidian or somethin'. except polished obsidian could never look that good
The bluing looks fantastic.
I find it amazing that they get such a different look over other smiths I have seen.......they put magic into their work......and the handles with the flutes etc.......true works of art.....I don't know if I could ever use what they make.....it is like the guy that collects cars and puts them behind glass as to never scratch them.

Almost like hematite more than blued steel.
0:28 very nice soothing lighting adjustment Lego assembling sound effect, helps with focus 10/10
My favorite thing about this Bowie is that amazing mosaic Damascus pattern. That is so beautiful it looks supernatural.
The gold in contrast to that amazingly deep blue of all the fittings has to be my favorite part.
Great work once again!
I'll tell what, with this level of perfection you'll hit 100K subs in no time, much admiration from Algeria .
Well Kyle , you have done a thing . A special thing , that won't be duplicated soon , or ever . Loveless would be proud to own that knife . And any other human appreciative of works of art . Damn !
Thanks Four
Appreciate that
Good to have you hanging out with us all
Team Royer
There's too much to love about this marvel of a piece, but my personal favourite parts are the black mirrored fittings with inlays. They're just so unlike anything I've seen before and, in my eyes, absolutely define this piece. Massive respects Kyle!
This guy is totally on the spectrum. I love it. He has found one thing to not only earn a living and be happy but its his thing and he is better and more in-depth then anyone else
Thanks Colorado
Every piece you made is just gorgeous
My favorite part is the snowball effect with subscribers. This level of craftsmanship deserves to be seen around the world. 👍
I think my favorite part, is the fact that you actually teach as your building! :^)
All your projects are amazing. And the advice and tips for more advanced projects is greatly appreciated. Most people I've seen at your skill level start to shy away from the "how" and "why" when building and just show the process. So thank you!
Knife is amazing. Great channel too. I appreciate the combination of craftsmanship, education, and humor. Keep it up!
Favorite part? Are you kidding? Everything blows me away, I suppose the etching process is the most mind blowing result of your genius and your attention to detail. I’ve never seen anything like your blades before and wish that I could call all of my blades back now so I could finish them with your systematic eye to perfection. You sir are the best.
Hey thanks dan. Start today in making a difference. You can do it. Just start with one level up detail. 👍🏻🔥☕️⚔️
Dad
Still love the gold dots, it blows my mind how precise your engraving skills are kyle!
For me the thing that stands out ( actually it screams out) is the precision and attention to detail of your work, from your choice of materials that have real contrast but also stunning effect to the overall look of the piece.Stunning, absolutely fabulous.the thought of cutting wood with such a knife gives me the shakes. I look forward to your next project you all do a really entertaining video.
Thanks mervyn
Kyle
I'm not worthy to pick one favourite part. This thing is pure art!!! I tell my Kids, when they see something handmade about the effort to make stuff. So you see some gold dots. Pfff…. Man, this precision alone….
I really like and admire the enthusiasm you spread out making knives, so this is my favourite part!!Keep rockin' it!!!
You didn’t really give us a good look at the finished piece. 😢
My favourite bit is the guard
Never knew I could have such strong feelings for a knife! It's gorgeous
that blade is unbelievable, you're super talented
Thanks for the compliment!
Kyle
You are an artist at everything James Spader
This guy is such a nerd in all the best possible ways!
My favorite part of this beautiful knife is the whole dam thing!!!
In this Day and Age, I find it refreshing that you take the time to thank God. I appreciate that I was able to find this Channel. You are an awesome Master Craftsman.
Hey thanks Michael
We are blessed to be able to be here on You Tube
Team Royer
I'm voting with the Royer brothers that handle the concentrated essence of craftsmanship, absolutely beautiful, cheers
🐉
This guy does some out of this world work!!!
My favorite thing about this Bowie is the humble and thoughtful maker. Of course the Bowie is perfect so how can I select just one bit. But the love the maker puts into this knife makes this Bowie sing.
That blued finish with the gold inlay contrasted against an ivory handle is inspired... truly beautiful. Genius
Thanks so much for the kind words! Kyle
Master smith indeed man. You are incredible sir. I love the gun blueing, your unique style with the inlays. The fossil ivory handle just brings the whole piece together
Hello KartizaK here. During these "Last Part" vids, please do a longer red carpet show case of the entire product. Your content is great but we never get a full "Tip to Pommel" long shot. Would love that. Maybe with Kyle giving a summary of the build. And yes the handle split is my favorite as well................
Yes. I want to see him handling it with those white gloves museums use.
My goodness, never seen anyone with so much attention to detail. You are amazing and great product!
Hey thanks 13. Be safe and be careful my friend 👍🏻☕️🔥⚔️
Dad
All the parts of the handle are awesome (and far better than I am currently an do), but the best part was the pattern of the Damascus. The consistence of the coloring and depth it was incredible.
I was already blown away by the blade and then you brought out the handle... Wow! Magnificent work! From end to end your knife is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen.
Hey thanks my friend 👍🏻☕️🔥👍🏻
Dad
Favorite thing; duh, everything
Least favorite; duh, nothing
That thing is phenomenal!!!
I like the blueing and gold inlays
My favorite part is the pattern of the Damascus barring the wootz from the gentleman from Florida, his name escapes me right now, that's the most beautiful pattern I've ever seen. A real piece of art!
just a tip , I just recently heard of you guys and clicked on the link for the playlist of this dagger and last part showed first. Not sure about other people but I like watching these type of videos in order. I know I could have stopped playback and found first episode but I was gaming and this was playing on second monitor and was half way through before I gave you undivided attention. Good work though, love the detail.
I let next episode autoplay and it went to start of this weapon. my bad , I should have just skipped this vid and come back to it at the end..:)
My favorites parts are the gold inlay and the bluing process. Make more videos like this
Demand things often?
Favorite aspect? The blade pattern & finish! Unbelievable!
Thanks Horus
Good to have you with us all
Team Royer
Everything is so nice. Thats outstanding Kyle.
Freakin AMAZING!!! Craftsmanship at its absolute finest. I’ve really enjoyed watching this build. Thank you. My favorite part of this knife is the hot blued steel parts with the contrasting gold inlays. Great work guys!
The quillion's finish, top drawer.
Every time I look at a different part of this knife, that is my favorite part. Whatever part I'm currently looking at. What an absolute masterpiece.
The contrast of the different types of metal in the blade after etching 👍
Big fan of the new circles/dots!
I actually watched the entire series in one sitting. I was mesmerized throughout the build. I can't believe the amount of work that goes into each step.
The craftsmanship that you put into this was exceptional.
My favorite part? Fitting the handle pieces and then etching and polishing the blade.
This knife came out so nice. I could not imagine the worth of such a beautiful work of art.
More than I could ever spend, but I certainly do appreciate what it took to complete this.
Thanks James
Good to have you with us all

A friend of mine describes OCD as “picking the fly shit out of the pepper.”
You, Sir, are far beyond that !!
Astounding art !! 😳
IT'S NOT OCD, THIS MAN IS A PERFECTIONIST.
I'm currently watching a British blacksmith that moved to Montana ...... Alec Steele ... I've only seen this video of you but I want to see more
Alec is more about learning how to do new things. You get to see his mistakes and all.
Alec Steele is my favorite channel on yt, but this guy has super high quality work.
Alec is just a lot more entertaining. Watching his progress is great.
The quality on your work is beyond what I thought was possible. Bravo.
My favorite part is the absolute perfect Damascus pattern
The handle definitely shines. The perfection in the way that ivory is smoothed around the edges makes me happy. The blade is beautiful as well.
Those fittings are amazing. Not to take away from the damascus blade or the ivory, but those fittings really make that knife "POP". Just my opinion. Great looking blade no matter which part you like.
Bruh as a basic knife maker, I inspire to be half as good as this guy. Absolute legend
Feeling the love Lycus

wow love to watch a maker at work. wow
Absolutely stunning piece Kyle. You have motivated me to push myself and explore processes and designs that I never thought possible for me. They may not work out in reality as in my head, but I will try very hard. Thank you for all you and your family do for this craft!
Wayne
The gold inlay is amazing
Gorgeous, gorgeous blade. I love the lines and how they all go together.
My favourite part is you my friend! You are a gem in the blade making world. Your art is functional yet exquisite, you appear to be one of a kind.
I can't wait to see the whole knife. 👏👏👏
I love the look of it when it comes out of the acid the first time, it looks like a really subtle pattern at that point!
I love how the ends of the s-guard have the same shape as the pommel nut, and the same shape as the wide end of the spear-point-shaped gold inlay details. It's attention to detail like that which just catches the eye and holds it. Absolutely stunning. Thanks for sharing with us.
so many favorites with this knife. The contrasts between the gun bluing and the gold inlay are awesome. The polished ivory handle is amazing but my favorite is the damascus pattern in the blade!!!
My favorite thing: all of it, really comes together as a piece. Really spectacular work!
I love the shape of the knife overall and the angle the handle comes in at. The perfection of the finishing touches is exquisite but it all builds from the shape.
Thanks wandernstan
Glad you’re enjoying the vids
Dad
Beautiful work, just beautiful!
Thanks Sarah
Kyle
Kyle, you should consider making a Japanese sushi knife. You might get some interest from buyers. Your work is so detailed and precise, it's incredibly impressive.
The beauty of the blade lends itself to the handle and vice versa love the whole thing
Thank you for a great channel Kyle and josh!
Superbeautiful knife. Love the black and gold.

I've been hanging for this episode for a while now, I've watched everything else you've got on RUclips and I was out of content!!
My favourite part of ALL your pieces is the bluing. It completely changes every piece, your fittings are just perfect!!
I've been checking your subscriber count regularly and it's just skyrocketing and will only continue, good work guys!!
Really excited for the new content coming out, while you were doing the etch I thought to myself, it'd be cool if we could get a complete tutorial from start to finish.
Keep it up guys, awesome stuff!!
This is by far the coolest knife I’ve seen and I watch a TON of knife making and blacksmithing. That Damascus pattern is unlike any I’ve seen. Very glad I found this channel thank you lol
I am blown away by the knifes you make you have the hands and eye of a master your creations last for eternity
I love the Heirloom finish on the handle. I also love the way you step through the process in detail Kyle.
Absolutely amazing! Much respect ✊ the pattern is stunning 😍
Awesome video, your work is honestly amazing to behold. I think it would be really cool if we got to see some of your finished work perform as well! Your aesthetics are out of this world but I think showing some more performance would really put the channel over the edge. Again love your videos and your work, keep it up!!
Really enjoyed this build...my favorite part of this blade is the gold dots on the pommel nut and the guard. Beautiful work Kyle and awesome editing Josh
The split in the handle is very nice also the ivory relook fit Is sweet And there’s the Damascus which is stunning I like it all buddy
