Tbh, one of the many reasons China looks askance at S Korea is their acceptance of Western customs and the allowance of Western religion. Because ancient Korea was once a vassal state of China, many brainwashed Chinese still have a sense of arrogance when they compare historical differences... this is visible in places like web novel plots and manhuas. Many in China resent that S Korea is making a cultural transition towards inclusivity rather than intolerance. I have to say, one if the things I respect about both Japan and S Korea is their strong ability to adapt to modern thought and cultural innovation while keeping true to ancient heritage. I also love Chinese culture (especially authentic Chinese food 😂) but I feel very sad that their government is so oppressive that it limits their freedom of expression, and many Hong Kongers are now becoming expatriates for this reason.
