@Bill M - RC Hello Bill and Thank you very much for this great video. I found it very useful. I am a beginner of FPV and drones and I was wondering if in your opinion is better to buy a 40-50 euros FPV Goggles pair (I found the EMAX On gearbest for 45 euros) or buy the ROTG02 with a normal VR. As I could understand FPV Goggles may reach a greater range but ROTG02 with a normal VR could have a better resolution, but I am not sure. Your opinion would be very appreciated ... :) Thank you, Silvio
Wow this is the first one video where is possible see the real range without bullshit! Thanks! So about 300 meters with stock anternna. I just bought same receiver with mushroom antenna but i haven't tested yed. By the way great video.
Hi, thanks for watching & commenting, much appreciated :-) I am pleased you find this helpful and it will be interesting to see how this performs with a mushroom antenna too :-)
Bill M - RC. I have an update, i've tried fpv with mushroom antenna , tried walking on the road not on drone. Well with stock about 200meters , with mushroom about 10 meters more, so no big difference.
Dear Bill M, thanks for the video. one comment regarding your verbal conclusion that the reception of the ROTG02 is worse. During the side by side footage @14:48 it seems that you flew further with the ROTG02 compared to the side by side video of the ROTG01 @15:27; Thus the break up of the ROTG02 cannot be honestly compared with the ROTG01 as you flew a shorter distance with the ROTG01. Thanks for the video anyway, it was interesting to see the reception difference between the two devices.
Hi Niels, thank you for watching & commenting, always much appreciated :-) Perhaps a bit shorter but the focus was on reliability within the distance rather than a few meters more.
Apparently there little difference between the 1 and the 2. Probably because the 2 doesn't use different antennas like a patch and an omni to be true diversity. Still impressive range considering your antennas are positioned all wrong.
Yeah, exactly what I predicted, as like you said, what does the diversity even have to do when in open spaces, a straight line, no turns, etc. The diversity is being testicled in no way whatsoever.
There is a target video where the ROTG01 was used ground-to-ground and it showed good reception at just over 4000 yards. He had to stop because "he was next to his neighbor's property line". The 01 is now slouch.
Hi, thank you for watching & commenting, much appreciated :-) Yes, I am using a car controller but only to hold the phone in its mount and the radio controller is for the Bugs 2 quadcopter used.
heh. ok now it makes sense. CJ youngblood flys his stingray with a custom build car controller that looks pretty cool. I was wondering if you had done something similar.
Nice test. I have a question. I understand that android app records and 30fps. Thats ok. But what fps we get in our vr box googles? 30 fps or more? I mean, just for watching, not recording.
Hi Lucas, thank you for watching & commenting, always much appreciated :-) Sorry, but I do not understand what this could possibly achieve that the ROTG02 does not do already.
The thing is that i have rotg01, the antenna it comes with another exactly the same. But, as this kind of antennas send the Frequency only to the sides of it, so when i go up in the sky with my plane, i lose signal, and if i change the orientation of the antenna, i Will lose signal when i fly on my sides. The question si: can i put two antennas in the same port, as if it was rotg02?
@@lucascaviezel8899 Ok, I understand better now, I would suggest that you try and use a pagoda antenna with this then, as I doubt you can add an additional antenna to the single receiver on the ROTG01.
Ok... forgive me for pointing out the obvious, BUT, if I'm not mistaken something was wonky with the Transmitter on the quadcopter NOT the receiver....I say this because the video on the DVR went out at the same time as the video on the 02 receiver, which IF the DVR has a totally independent receiver from that of the 02, would mean that the TRANSMITTER not the receiver was the fault of the weak signal in the 02 test....if it was the 02 receivers fault, then the DVR should have kept a picture when after the 02 failed. I believe SOMETHING in your test rig failed and skewed the results!
Hi, thank you for watching, commenting & subbing, always much appreciated :-) Yes, there are a couple of simultaneous signal losses for whatever reason which also happend in the ROTG 01 test.
@@BillMRC yes but when the 02 test dropped out completely, it also dropped out on the DVR rig, which has a completely different receiver, so if both of them are losing the signal at the same time then the problem is a weak transmitter or interference, and not the fault of the receiver module! I'm not talking about the temporary dropouts, I'm talking about at the point where you say you lost video and deduced that the 01 did better then the 02.
Hi Gabriel, thank you for watching & commenting, always much appreciated :-) Better antennas will not make a big difference but a stronger vtx output will.
Hi Ferdy, thank you for watching & commenting, always much appreciated :-) ,the ROTG01 is best within 300 meters and the ROTG02 best beyond 300 meters.
Hi Sol, thank you for watching & commenting :-) Yes, the ROTG01 performed well overall and I would say that the ROTG02 is better within 300 metres. I have not tried these with different antennas but as you can see on the DVR, the Aomway & Patch antennas did not particularly make much of a difference.

@@BillMRC On the face of it, two is always better than one, right, Nope. It's still only got one receiver. I can see where two antennas"might" interferre and might cause other problems and add in the extra cost, the single antenna is just better IMO. :o)

To get better signal with the Eachine ROTG02 receiver, the antennas should be upright just like on the Eachine ROTG01.
Hopefully that helps. :)
