1608 N Cahuenga Blvd Shelly's Manne-Hole & during this era, LA was Kick'n with Jazz dives throughout the LA basin, SFV & LA's Southbay along with Great piano bars all over the LA map
Unfortunately, those days of “LIVE HOUSES” for playing jazz where musicians could come and play and make money and make a living are over and I don’t think they’re ever coming back, especially in this woke society. If you wanna call it a society and the Covid that was a death knell to the live music scene in Los Angeles and elsewhere. It’s so sad it’s tragic. It’s disgusting it’s a crime.
Shelly Manne was a phenominal jazz drummer who really paid his dues with Stan Kenton and of course he fronted his own jazz club Shelly Manne Hole. He could hold his own with anyone. I saw him once take a silver dollar roll it on the floor tom and made it sound like a roll. Shelly was a technician and innovator.
A great upload & very wise to get this transferred for posterity. I can only imagine there are very few surviving copies in existence ....so well done for making the effort & sharing. I'm such a fan...but if I were at a university with facilities this would make a for an interesting restoration exercise.

Hey there excellent work on playing 😢🎉😂❤
I remember seeing this back in the early seventies in Grammar School this is incredible.
