This Hindu temple is regarded as a National Treasure to Trinidad and Tobago. An Indian labourer, Sewdass Sadhu, had constructed the first temple on the seashore in 1947. It was demolished because it was built on MacMillan Park, private property belonging to Tate and Lyle Limited, one of the leading sugar companies. Sadhu was sent to prison. He subsequently decided to build the Temple in the sea. It took him 25 years to build singlehandedly with only his bicycle to transport materials. This Temple is on a man-made island and is connected to the mainland by a pedestrian causeway. Images and murtis of Ganesh, Siddartha and other Hindu deities are displayed in an exquisite manner.
The temple, which was rebuilt in 1995 under a committee of which Randal Rampersad was Chairman, received assistance from the Unemployment Relief Programme (URP), as well as from overseas.

It seems few if any respected the Sadhu while he lived! Good lesson here. I knew the Rampersad family well since the early 80's. Great testament to a love for the Dharma as well as their Mata/Pita.

Either you are a Christian and you follow the prophet that the Lord Jesus-Christ has sent in your time or you remain home. You cannot be a Christian today unless you follow Kacou Philippe, the prophet that God has sent for your time. [Ed: The congregation says, Amen!]. As at the time of Noah, you could not be a Christian unless you follow Noah the prophet that God had sent for your time. You see? Stop to be Catholics, Protestants, evangelicals and Branhamists. Stop to follow the devil and come to God through His living prophet. Because John 6:28 says that the work of God is to believe in him whom He has sent.
