- The 1995 NASCAR Busch Series was a wild one, a great example of that season's craziness was the 1995 Humminbird Fishfinder 500K. This race was super fun to watch in it's entirety, and had a ton of big crashes, including flips from Ward Burton and Randy Lajoie.

I do not own any of the footage in this video, all credit goes to the respective owners: NASCAR, NASCAR Media Group, Fox, NBC, NBC Sports, ESPN. - Спорт
Wow the camera work was so good back then. They werent trying to zoom in too far. Even in Lajoie's flip, the guy tries to get the whole pack in frame without missing the flip. Amazing
Surprising for 1995, right!
11:04 whoever was in that slow car on the apron needed a new fire suit after that lmao
Lol
NASCAR Wreckfest: 2016 Federated Auto Parts 400.

97 Busch series Brostol night race, Buckshot Jones takin out Robert Presley at the end. That was a junkyard of a race

Think it was 1998 but I know which race you're talking about. I think that also was the one where Buckshot got into it with Lajoie?
@pru ya that is indeed the one. Thar whole race was a roughshod event
The reason that footage of this finish is difficult to find is TNN had some sort of satellite failure and the live feed got scrambled.
Other races that could be recapped:
1989 ValleyDale 500 (20 yellows)
2005 Coca Cola 600 (22 yellows)
1991 Peak 500 at Dover, several crashes
Both 1993 Dover races
Let's take a moment to appreciate Ward Burton. The man is a survivalist! It's no wonder his hobbies are hunting and climbing mountains.
He managed to release his window net, probably kill the engine ignition, then unbuckle himself, and climb out the window, all while upside down.
Before the safety crew got there.
And he flipped just past the pits, where there's quick access to safety equipment.
That dude can survive anything lol
The wreck where Randy LaJoie flipped was also the career ending wreck for Robbie Reiser in the 17.
That's the same Robbie Reiser who became synonymous for being Matt Kenseth's crew chief in Cup.
It didn't end his career. He missed a few races and was back later in the season.
I may get the injury wrong but I know at the very least that crash injured Reiser. I think he broke his hand or wrist or something of the sort, leading Matt Kenseth to get a few races in the car later.
I was at this race as a 5 year old. I didn't remember much about it at the time but later on I discovered it was a total shitshow
2016 AAA Drive For Autism 400. Was the first race I went to and it was one hell of a wreckfest.
2018 Powersharesqq 300 is probably the craziest wreckfest I’ve seen. I think it had like 6 overtimes
Yup! And instead of like a 2.5-3 hour rac I think it went on for 5-6 lol.
Closest finish in nascar history too I’m pretty sure
2016 Talladega, 2 flips and multiple big ones
Crazy stat from this race: with Patty Moise and Elton Sawyer both leading laps its the first time (and I think only time) husband and wife led laps in the same race
If not for that massive last crash, we may never have seen Matt Kenseth in NASCAR.
Robbie Reiser was injured in that accident and called his friend/rival from Wisconsin to fill in for him. Of course that man was Matt Kenseth.
Thanks for recapping this bit of my childhood NASCAR. I watched this race live and it always felt like ARCA and Busch at Talladega was guaranteed to give you either a huge 20+ car crash or a blowover, or both. So many classic names and liveries in this race. The Pollex team with Chad Little was bad fast that season but struggled with reliability. They got the John Deere sponsorship in 1996, then took their team to Cup in 1997, which is the livery/driver/team combination most folks remember.
Johnny Benson, Jr. lay the foundation for the BACE Motorsports team to be successful. They hadn't done nothing in Busch when Benson got there, then in 1994 he wins 2 races and Rookie of the Year, then in 1995 wins another 2 races and the championship. Lajoie stepped right in to a tailor-made championship-winning car thanks to Benson.
can we just take a minute and reflect on how good those Pontiacs looked
If you were to make an IndyCar version of this I would want you to make one about the 2021 music city Grand Prix
Didn't know Ward drove a CAT Busch car before he had them in Cup. Good to know
I love these Wreckfest videos so much!
These Videos are literally a recap and I'm all for it
With the Burton flip, watch one of the cars spinning just past pit exit. They caught some air too. Could have had two flips in that wreck
11:27 Robbie Reiser sustained a hell of a concussion after the impact with the inside wall. He gave up driving shortly thereafter and put Tim Bender into his car. When Tim Bender sustained a career-ending back injury, Reiser put a kid named Matt Kenseth into the car. The rest is Hall of Fame history.
1998 Talladega 300. That one was brutal
I remember watching that race as a kid it was crazy
A young Hermie Sadler in row 6 haha didnt expect that lol but definitely remember this race.
i love the wreckfest series please keep making these
2022 Coke 600 was one of the races with most cautions ive seen. It would be cool if you made a vid about that race.
A race has never put me on the edge of my seat like that one did
Love the instrumental you put over the commentary. Awesome video.
all these years later and still nobody realizes they almost killed that stalled car at 11:18
I'd love to know if Lajoie lifted big and let his car snap back into the crash around 11:03 in the video to avoid running darn near full speed into whomever was coasting into the pit with a mechanical of some sort. Wow.
A lot of good drivers in this race.
i love ur explanations
That looked just like Rick Mast's flip back in 1991
Still pretty new? The sportsman division(now,Busch series) had been around since at least the mid '50's.
10:20 you really wanted us to know he was passed by chad little.
2:29 another car almost goes over
Arca Brakes Speculator Crash At Talladega NASCAR Busch Grand National Series V6 Engine

One slight correction referring to Patty Moise....
It's not "Moys".....it's "Mo-Weese"....
i noticed the title is misspelled, you mean "Wreckfest", not "Wreckest" forgot the f
We could've had Kevin Lepage Before Kevin Lepage There was a slow car on the bottom on the apron in lajoies crash
