    Hey Joe, greatly appreciate your sharing this excellent knowledge. Your approach is clear, concise and straight forward. Just ordered a Persons SutdioLive 24 Series III, and I must say it was indeed after watching the vids on your channel!! So, keep it up, and again, Thanks Dude.

    Good stuff Joe . I been window shopping with these digital mixers for so long. One of my excuses for not pulling the trigger (aside from money 😩) is that I have a couple other solid analog mixers as is, debating on just adding more insert fx or just upgrading to an all in one digital unit like this

    Hi JoeI want to thank you for all the great videos and shearing your knowledge. I run a small venue where we do live shows as well as recording. I recently up graded to a Presonus StudioLive Series III mixer from my old Mackie 24,8 board. The digital board is a whole new world for me but thanks to you I'm learning it. Can you do a video of how to send out to stage monitors and how to configure the sends to them. also on your video on naming the channels you did not show the board. I see you were filming with your phone can you post that too. Thank Thank You Dale.I'll be watching

    I just purchased the Presonus 32sx and just noticed it doesn't have the scribble strip above the fat channel knobs. Is this a problem?

    Hi Joe can you please tell me why the play back on my Studiolive sc32, when in DAW mode with Pro Tools, only plays back the channel 2, verses 1 & 2?

    Hey Joe, absolutely love all your videos, I am a fan! Can you talk for a moment about the bewildering array of series III models? What are the difference (besides channel count)? 32, 32S, 64S, SX, 24 yada yada... help! Which one? Thanks man. :)

    Hi! I love your tutorials. Question: Is it possible to route input line 1 on my mixer to record on input 5, with changing the cable? I have Studiolive 32s III

    Banking Plugins??? Example: Waves F6 Floating-Band Dynamic EQ.
    Each band has 7 primary controls; Freq, Q, Gain, Range, Threshold, Attack, Release... 7 knobs/faders X 6 bands is 42 knobs/faders. With Banking Plugins that's a page for each band.
    Does this board do that little trick?
    THX

      This board doesn't do ANY control surface stuff yet. They're going to introduce DAW mode soon.

    Hey Joe I was just wondering how are you getting that sound on your vocals?

  • @SteveSmithRocks
    @SteveSmithRocks 6 лет назад

    Awesome. Quick question - I think I know the answer...BUT - on these boards the master channel has a GEQ button - to adjust the eq for the mains. In a recording situation - wouldn't you want to leave this Flat?

    • @HomeStudioCorner
      @HomeStudioCorner  6 лет назад +1

      No necessarily. You could use the GEQ to tune the speakers to your room. That wouldn't affect the recording at all.

    • @SteveSmithRocks
      @SteveSmithRocks 6 лет назад

      I get the recording don't be effected. My concern is too much coloring for mixing purposes. Sounds great in my room, but take in home or play in a car, resulting in too much bass or to thin.

    • @HomeStudioCorner
      @HomeStudioCorner  6 лет назад

      Yeah that's a common problem with learning to mix.

    • @ShayneBilley
      @ShayneBilley 6 лет назад +1

      LOL. Happens all the time. I'll actually take my laptop and ProTools session into my truck and connect the laptop via the truck's aux input and "fine tune" my mix right in my truck :) It's a balancing act between the sound in the studio and the sound EVERYWHERE else!

    • @JasonLaPrade
      @JasonLaPrade 6 лет назад +1

      Steve, in the studio I don't apply any kind of EQ for my main speakers. Studio speakers should be as flat as possible. Mine aren't perfect but they are reasonable. Over the years I've learned to trust my speakers (and headphones). When a client is here and wants more bass I usually tell them it's a bad idea because in their car, where bass is pushed, the bass will sound too loud. Do some experimenting on different speakers. If the car is consistently too boomy, your studio speakers may be light on the low end .... In that case, if you push the GEQ on the studio speakers for more low end, you'll mix with less bass. This isn't always perfect. If you don't have subs in the studio or speakers with cones at least 8 inches you won't hear as much below 80hz. One good thing to do is always high pass filter everything that isn't a bass instrument. That helps clean up low end rumble and boom.

    when I am in analog and I speak on to the mic I can hear myself threw the speaker via monitor out, but when I'm in usb mode on the fat channel I can't hear myself and it won't record on to the capture 2 program. do you know what I can do about it?

      You have to set the output of that channel to post and route it to the L R tape outs I think. Track 38? Or something like that

    Series III is a complete betrayal of the digitally-powered analog philosophy implemented in StudioLive Series II. You could learn a Series II board by heart and operate it by touch, keeping your eyes on your performers rather than buried in an LCD screen. Presonus should've dropped the "Live" part of this generic product's name and rechristened it "StudioAutomated".

  • @garykarczewski6678

    I am strongly considering upgrading from my RM32AI with no controller (touch screen only) to a 32 Series III mainly because of the enhancements and the improved work flow the forth coming DAW control, and the upgraded on board effects. My question is the moving to 48 khz vs 96 khz which I currently have with the RM 32ai something to be concerned with?

    • @HomeStudioCorner
      @HomeStudioCorner  6 лет назад

      I personally couldn't care less about being able to record at 96kHz. Probably not the best person to ask.

    • @garykarczewski6678
      @garykarczewski6678 6 лет назад

      Well what you care about wasn't the question. The question was moving down to 48K from 96K as per gain loss in the recording process. I will contact PreSonus for this question.

    • @HomeStudioCorner
      @HomeStudioCorner  6 лет назад

      You don't lose gain. It's just a conversion, as far as I understand it.

    • @JasonLaPrade
      @JasonLaPrade 6 лет назад +1

      Gary, you're going to lose quality for sure, but most people won't hear the difference. I personally record at 44.1 and I'm totally happy with the quality that comes out of my studio.

    • @garykarczewski6678
      @garykarczewski6678 6 лет назад

      The sample rate of 44.1 is the sweet spot I don't understand why so much conversion goes to 96K when very few record at 96K?

    Are those displays so terribly washed out in reality as well? In every video I saw, those are close to impossible to read unless you are looking on them straight from the top. Together with that sluggish screen, this would drive me absolutely nuts. Also, considering that they look like THIS: media.sweetwater.com/api/i/q-85__ha-897f4e79d81ce9c0__hmac-5a3f925b2b146f0752f5dae963c3fe3357776cb0/images/items/1800/SLMAD32-xlarge.jpg when advertised, the look of those displays is a severely disconcerting...

    I want one but those colors are so silly. That's annoying.

      Okay?

    • @JasonLaPrade
      @JasonLaPrade 6 лет назад +1

      I think you can change some of the colours. But I hear you, Dylan. I'm also considering a Soundcraft Impact. It looks so classy compared to the Presonus, but the StudioLive may be edging it out in terms of flexibilty. I'm leaning towards picking this one.

    • @SteveSmithRocks
      @SteveSmithRocks 6 лет назад

      You can change the colors. Makes for easy locating a track in a live situation especially, where you don't want to turn on a light or don't have one. I usually color code by instrument. Drums one color, bass another, etc.

    • @dylanc6276
      @dylanc6276 6 лет назад

      That makes sense. I've actually seen it in a dim lit room and it looks a lot cooler. Either way I don't think you can beat the functionality. It's definitely on my list.

      @dylanc6276 6 лет назад

      Yeah same here. I've been eyeing these for a while now.
