Man. This must be the most plexi sounding pedal I've ever heard.
Xotic sl drive
Finally a complete demo that shows all the potential of that pedal.
Perfect pedal, perfect video. No talking, good sound, all knobs are demonstrated.
No talking = perfect 👊 🎭
After I got my PlexiTone, I sold all my other overdrive pedals (TS-9, RAT, SD-1, Klon Centaur (clone), OCD, Zendrive, Timmy,...).
This one really gives me the sound, I always have been looking for in awesome, almost amp-like quality. Works great in front of an amp, no matter, if it is more Fender or Marshall voiced, but also as a standalone solution.
Changes a single channel tube amp to a three channel amp and you still have the additional (really very neutral) boost option for both channels.
If you do not own an Arredondo modded Plexi, this pedal is capable of giving you comparably great sounds easier and cheaper. Alone the Crunch channel made this pedal to am excellent one, but the High Gain channel adds even more flexibility and more than enough gain for even Metal, but not only for this genre.
Nice and well adjustable Plexi to Hot-Rod-Plexi tones, which to me sound much better than the ones of a JCM800 or DSL or later Marshalls. Perfect addition to a 1959 or SV-20, but also compatible with a lot of other tube amps.
For the sound quality a comparably cheap pedal, if you consider, what you get. By far the best Marshall in a box, I ever have heard!
I was underwhelmed initially when using it on my Engl Rock Amp clean channel with clean gain shortly before breakup and master volume very low (as otherwise too loud), but when I changed to clean gain super low and master relatively high to mainly use the power amp I could get exactly the same warm, full, round crunch or high gain sounds as in this video. It is a great drive pedal!
Love this pedal. Great tones snd the most musical boost I ever used.
An old buddy of mine from over at the Seymour Duncan forums designed this pedal (and others for CM) years ago. He gave away a few of his prototype pedals on the forum. He's a pedal genius, but last I heard he wasn't building/designing anymore :( I no longer have my Plexitone, but I still feel it as good/better than most of the Amp in a box pedals out in the booteek land of today (which I have also owned). Run it thrugh a clean EL34 Marshall type amp (his advice/design intent, and my experience too) for best effect.
Cool.
Nice. That sound at 3:17 was like what I was getting with my HiWatt 50 back in the day.
This pedal is awesome! I use it (mostly the crunch mode) in the clean channel of my SLO 30 and boost it with a Greer Lightspeed, and it sounds amazing. You can even use only the boost function to boost Your other pedals. I know it's an old pedal but, it's still one of the best on the market!
These sound great! Love the british tone from this!
So many demos are bogus riffs from bogus players: your demos are awesome, because they pull out the character of the gear.
Sounds really authentic.
Wonderful tones !
Not completely perfectly sounding, if only used alone, in my opinion, but in combination with a (tube) power amp and a good Cabinet IR or real cabinets really awesome. At the same time more flexible than a real Plexi, in fact you get 4 different Plexi sounds for almost everything between decent crunch and intense hot-rod high gain.
Even the Boost alone sounds great.
If I record my Boutique Hot-Rod all tube Plexi or use the PlexiTone I get almost identical sounds through the same cab IR's, if I add a virtual EL34 or EL84 power amp to the PlexiTone.
Another advantage, you certainly do not need any other overdrive/distortion pedal anymore.
Also the better and sonically more flexible choice, if compared to the - at first glace cheaper and smaller - Lo Gain, PlexiTone and Panama pedals, the large version offers all these sounds in a single pedal.
Highly recommended and much cheaper than a real SLP HW or even a Studio Vintage 20. Not to speak from the output level...
I use this with my victory V40 deluxe….. what a sound! Works best with a clean high headroom amp.
awesome sound ! nice riffs :)
The best 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
A amp in a box that actually sounds like what it’s supposed to. I guess that’s why it costs over $200
This really is a beautiful pedal.I've used it on various valve amps. You just have to adjust eq to taste at the amp. A simple way of seeing it, crunch, boost then high gain adjusted for how much molten to add.
Crunch with high gain make for great subtle changes too as well as heavier.
I tried it out on a Boss Micro Cube too just for giggles and that sounds fantastic too
I wonder what amp he's using for the demo.? That's kind of important. Sounds great, regardless.
0:30 shows the signal chain. He is using a fender bassman
Thanks this pedal is f..... up
Can I use it like a preamp? For example with a TDA 2050 in the power amp. Thanks !
Very very nice! What amp are you in? What bridgepickup do you have?
Sorry I see the bassman now
Reduce the gain and increase the crunch so it would not be so distorted?
mine doesnt sound this tight
Would this work for Van Halen?
Über welchen Amp habt ihr das Pedal gespielt?
Is it a amp simulator or pre amp?
No. This is three mode Drive pedal.
Even if it offers many sound potential, it has nothing to do with a Plexi.
