Growing up, before my dad our farm, my uncle had a 50 acre(?) orchard. During harvest, the school bus dropped me off there as my mom was out in the orchard. Consequently, I learned to pick apples when I was 5. Call me crazy, but I miss it.
Thanks for sharing the video Mike. So neat to see your home farm and learn some history about it and your family. Nice looking land. Very diversified farming operation. Take care.
Love the White tractors. Since finding your videos I knew I had seen Less farms somewhere ,it was driving me crazy and sure enough I have been by the Less farm 1000 times lol Geez.... I can remember when those fields were all apple trees too. Great video!
Excellent video Mike. When I was very young square dancers had to know "horse talk" . When the caller directed "the gals go GEE and the gents go HAW " it helped to have a farming background.
Really enjoyed the video of your home place. Picking apples and pumpkins was super. Sure seems silly not to be able to pick up apples for cider!! Not sure how I survived my childhood!!
Back in the mid 90's, I used to sell irrigation and supplies to Salem Fruit Growers and Paul Gasper. I didn't realize you guys were on the other side of the road. I always liked the lobster baskets because of the handles. The only problem was the new ones had to be hid, or else they would get turned into clothes baskets!
Hi Mike. I worked for your grandfather and uncle Ed back in the late 80s early 90s. Looks like the farm has changed a bit but the picking baskets look like the ones I remember. I think I remember red baskets and yellow baskets. I remember we also used them to pick the corn at the end of the corn rows as well most mornings during corn season.
Chad I think I remember you. You were in the same class as Craig if I'm thinking correctly. Yes I remember picking plenty of sweet corn using the same picking bags.
There was a Forensic Files episode called "Core Evidence" (Season 4, Episode 10) about why you can't use drops anymore. It was about the 1996 Odwalla E.Coli outbreak.
Sprayed soybeans one year for John one year when they were harvesting green beans. Was very interesting to watch them do that. Lot of work goes on at that farm!
Quite a full video Mike. Apple picking, Pumpkin picking, bean combining, corn chopping, beaver spotting, wow! And the story of the Klan. Jack asses. I'm glad he wasn't run off by those jerks. It was funny when pulled the key out and said "the White key!" I thought "that looks like the Cockshutt key--and the Oliver key!" Imagine that!
Hey Mike, at 8:50 you and the team are loading large pumpkins. It seems like you are rejecting some and leaving them on the field. Is that because of defects or were they the wrong size for these baskets to be picked up later?
Well you might know a thing or two about that. I thought I was being gentle and I really think the GoPro amplified the apple noise and made it sound worse than it really was.
Love the 195. I grew in in Charles City, IA. My dad likely had his hands on that tractor at one point.
I Love the video. The White 195s are one of my Favorite white tractors.

Hi, I enjoy your videos! That combine is no very dirty, must have just been cleaned! The mark of a good farmer!
Viewing from east central Alberta, Canada
I really like those old White WH tractors. Nice to see that one wearing rubber that doesn't give it that ugly kail lean

Apple picking with Mike Less. This is a first for me.😂
Sir....I really want to work as a farmer in your place...if how can I go there to become a Farmer..

They were left if they were too green or had damage. Some may have just been odd shaped and some may have had a soft spot.
😎😎
Proof you can always go home.
Looks like picking apples is a rough way to earn a living
hey mike, you should check out congers lake farm when they chop next year they have a big farm they are located in Hartville, Ohio
I did a corn silage video there in 2020 and 2021

I really don't know how I could possibly send you apple seeds to Morocco.
Gently, your gonna bruise them
Well you might know a thing or two about that. I thought I was being gentle and I really think the GoPro amplified the apple noise and made it sound worse than it really was.
Cousin John needs those apples picked. So stop standing around talking and get to work.
