    Even though it has been 55 years since the family made silage, it still brings back memories. There is something about silage videos that bring back smell memories.

      A video of covering the silage pile is on the list. I was thinking a corn silage video I did a few years ago at Convoy Dairy showed them covering part of the pile.

      My uncle always got the fields tested after we got corn done. Sometimes it wasn’t leached of nutrients, so we didn’t spread manure. Those fields might be okay.

    There is a family dairy near Dalhart that you could see for miles. I doubt you could video. I am thinking it would be the largest in the US or close after current expansion. To utilize the milk they have a large cheese factory.

    That pile/mound of silage is massive. How many acres does it take to build it? How many trailers loads? How many acres fit into one trailer? Good grief, I have questions. I like Mike. Happy subscriber 😊!

    Mike, is it more cost effictive dragging all that hose compared to a tank? Great video!

    • @garymurt9112
      @garymurt9112 Год назад +1

      It would depend on the situation, on this operation where they are pumping what looks to be millions of gallons in the application window, you would need a lot of tanks and that many more people hauling from the lagoon to the application, on smaller operations you could probably do tanks or if you had a large enough application window.

    How many tons of siledge are those trailers carring? Also the trailers have three axles with really large tires. Do the tires on the front axle turn with the tractor?? Or am I just seeing things.

      The first and the last axle steer in opposite directions (called Cross-Steer or X-steer), the center axle doesnt.

    • @farmhandmike

      I'll have to see if I can find out. I suppose a lot of it would depend on the field size as they have some pretty big fields and some smaller patches.
