Totally agree on the double sided boat boards. Not even close to a deal-breaker... but a little odd. Wonder if it's something that will be changed on a re-print if it gets one. Also like you, wonder if it was a printing mistake or just not thought of during design... I backed the kickstarter and don't remember seeing anything about a printing mistake.. and if there was, I would bet that Frank would have had it remedied before shipping even it was a "minor" thing... so I lean towards it just not being thought of during the design process.
Why are these cats getting into these crazy positions? Cause they're cats and that's how they flex :P I think it's thematically brilliant! My cat just jumped on me and is watching. LIke I said, thematic ; )
@@rahdo though I am tending to agree with you more and more, I have played this game solo now 20 times, and I swear the solo mode is horrendously difficult without scaling the difficulty level. I am now seeing that the game was rushed out to meet the KS deadlines, I just cannot win against the AI on easy.. I am now at 61 points as I barely filled 6 rooms. But the solo seems to just been copied from the base game which I am now thinking wasn't tested against the card drafting mechanism changes. You start with around -50 points ( rooms and rats ) and you have to beat your sister that starts with effectively 0 points. She scores on all cats, you score on families with minimum 3. Also since you have a limited card selection, 24 at most, you can't strategize on taking the right color cats, you have to take the column which makes it difficult to work around the AI color cat reveal scoring mechanism. Sorry.. long winded, but spent 2 hours playing the last solo and can't seem to beat the AI.
@@victorybhg i wonder if maybe you're making a goof with sister scoring? here's a solo video with the designer (frank) scroing 60vp, while the sister only scored 40 (in easy mode) :) ruclips.net/video/uNXGWgeOhic/видео.html
I’ve been debating getting rid of Isle of Cats because I like Bunny Kingdom more. But I think I’ll have room in my collection for Explore & Draw. Seems like a good compromise if I want cats and polyominoes.

frank west commented on bgg that having the same boat on both sides was intentional in case of damage to the lamination across many many plays.
interesting! i've never heard that concern before, but frank's a sharp cat, so i'd imagine it's well considered! :)
@@rahdo neither have i, another great review. love the game

Oh, my GF would LOVE this game!! Gotta add it to my wishlist right now! 😅😍
But the tails of the cats are different exactly to combat colourblind issues
it's very subtle, and on the kittens which are so tiny practically invisible imo. why be subtle when you can be direct and improve playability?
