I love my vintage British motorcycles. The twin leading shoe brakes on Triumph Tr-6 stop on a dime. I like my kick only bikes. Who needs a electric start? I love Kickstartering my British vintage motorcycles in front of the Harley guys to show them how to start a real motorcycle. I love kick-starting my URAL side car outfit. Mine is first with electric start, nice to have when my leg hurts.
I have a 2013 UCE (unit construction engine) model, which I converted from the garbage EFI to an Amal Concentric MK1 carburetor, using a kit from a place in the UK called Hitchcocks. This carb actually has a "tickler" which is a little button you push in to hold the float down, overfilling the float bowl and creating a richer mixture for starting. You can actually get a little gas on your finger when using it, which is the way I feel it should be. I also replaced the government mandated cat con exhaust with a cat free aftermarket pipe, also from Hitchcocks. It now runs, sounds, and feels pretty much the same as that one. Mine has both electric start and kick start. I use the kick start most of the time. You can do this with any 500 made through 2016. Performance is not what these bikes are about. The Japanese market has that covered. These bikes are about the experience. The sound and feel are unlike anything modern, and they are an absolute joy to ride for hours at around 55 mph. These are not "retro" bikes. They are the real deal. They really are late model antiques, and you have to ride them like you would an antique. But for me they provide a lot more pleasure than any modern bike.
I have the same year as you. I am currently rewiring mine and it's a pain but I'm so excited to get her back on the road! God bless! p.s. thanks for the link to the manual: i just purchased it!
All drum brakes have two brake shoes ,the difference with the twin leading brakes is that their is a moving operating lever at both ends of the shoes causing the shoes to spread apart and contact the drum over the full face of the brake shoe surface instead of just one end on the single lever design ,thus increasing the stopping power
it also has to do with the orientation of the opening end of the shoes relative to forward rotation. a trailing shoe is better when you are rolling backwards.. which is why they are not used in the rear.
My starter relay isn't working. Do you know the model number I need to replace? I ordered 2 and they look different than the one I have. I have a 2008 bullet 500. And what kind of carb are you using? I have the mikuni.
Thanks for clearing the difference between Iron Barrel and other REs. What type of Air Filter is that, may I ask? And is it any better than K&N Free flow air filter?
Hello, How much would you sell your enfield for? I have been looking for one like this for quite some time. If you know of one that's for sale please do contact me. Also, remember anything's for sale if the price is right.
@@captlarry-3525 I always made sure there was somebody riding behind me, they'd flag me down to tell me what was coming off, generally the badly fitting thunderbird tail light or one of the indicators. Never leave home without a spare bungee or a few cable ties!!

Pretty bike in chrome and blue, isn't it? Thanks for taking the time to give us a look-see.

You are correct. I've been educated on that mistake since this was made. BTW, big fan of CBG's!

Sorry, can't help you with that since I removed all of the unreliable electric start from mine. Try asking here: forum.classicmotorworks.com/
I have the same bike in black and chrome, In fact, I am getting on the long johns and leather to go for a ride now I love it
I have the same bike as you. 2007 in black and chrome. best bike ever :)
Thanks for clearing the difference between Iron Barrel and other REs.

It's a cheap clamp on China filter I found on Ebay. No real filtering other than keeping insects and small children out.
I have a '99 bike in black. Very envious of your 5 speed box, Keihin carb and blue/chrome tank!🙂
I've a Bullet Sixty 5, absolutely love it, ride it more than my V Strom, Beemer R1150, Gixsers
This bullet doesnt have the Neutral finder pedal?
No, 5 speeds don't have it.
Your bike is handsome !!
Which exhaust
Please
Hitchcocks shorty muffler
I have 2007 electra bullet 4 gear transmission....there is something different kind of love to ride the old one......

If you can't bare to leave your lawn mower at home, now you can ride it . No lawn required.
A friend referred to mine as " the Briggs and Stratton", he was never sure whether I was about to visit or next door was cutting their lawn!
@@brendanheffernan2671 you can never escape on RE single, they can follow your trail of parts as they fall off.

Sir for the brakes one could always install a disc brake with abs from the new generation royal Enfield bikes. Both front and rear.
Let us hear it
There is another video where I ride it.
A traditional motorcycle....
They all have two front brake shows😂
Yes, that was a blunder. I should have had a script.
Man where the hell is sound... We want sound... Period!
Check out my other videos. I have one where I'm riding it and another where I started it for the first time.
