I had this back in '99. I don't remember what happened to it, but I got another one 3 years ago. I knew the Titanic tragedy was a real event even when I was a kid, but I still thought this toy was awesome. Most likely because at the time, I had a fascination with the Titanic, ships in general, and robots as well. I for one, was never offended by this, and I even recreated the sinking of the Titanic while playing in my bathtub. (Had I done that now, I'd be an asshole, but I was 6...)
The Titanic disaster was a century old, Titanic jokes are funny to most, because the trauma of the tragedy has already past it's prime now. 9/11 and COVID jokes are offensive to some or least most, due to them being recent. (9/11 was two decades ago and COVID was 4 years ago.) Joking about the Notre Dame fire in 2019 could make anyone in France, who were respecting historical places and architecture angry.

The actual Titanic had a ton of corners cut in its construction and they DIDN'T follow all the protocols, so when compared to their respective norms (trans-Atlantic liner vs. functioning toy ship)... yeah, Titanic-Bot is actually better made than the real Titanic was.

When Blackout was found unidentified in the radar, they discovered in close up had the number 4500X which the original version was shot down earlier in Afghanistan. Probably one of the autobots had scanned the Titanic’s wreckage and traced its data back to the original form and became that vehicle l.
