Yeah... death is not free. It's a curse. Those who died had no regrets and did all they had to do... Ace had to save Luffy. Roger had only death remaining since he had it all except death, that's like the final step of human's completion. How you die is the most crucial aspect in one piece. That's why when a character die, it means a lot and usually, it's for the story progression. anyway, no one dies and it must be earned at the end of the journey.

as far as i know it's not that unusual and doesn't need a thunderstorm, the hot volcanic ash itself creates the lightnings since the small hot dust particles create a lot of friction and charge through that, it's quite common to see lightnings in a volcanic eruption

Nah, Kaido and Big Mom probably only went down .5 to 1Km deep... clearly causing a volcanic reaction hence the eruption. ✅️
