Review: World of Final Fantasy Maxima (Played on Switch, also on Xbox One, and PS4 and PC as DLC)

- I was finally able to play one of my favourite games again thanks to this Maxima edition. Enjoy hearing my thoughts on the Switch version!
Game featured: World of Final Fantasy Maxima - The Switch version has no physical edition for some odd reason (it's on the Nintendo eShop digitally if you want to pick it up!), but you can get the Xbox One physical on Amazon: amzn.to/2QdaVsf
(You can also pick up the original World of Final Fantasy for PS4 and PC and get the Maxima DLC to play on those. PS4 physical here: amzn.to/2r2N7t0)

Just got it for $20 off the Switch Eshop. Had it back on the vita but never got around to beating it. Really excited to play this game in its full glory anytime and anywhere. ^~^
I'm playing it now and I am freaking addicted!!!! This game is soooo overlooked. The characters are so funny, realistic, the graphics are fine for what they were going for, and the pacing is amazing. You are not in a dungeon or certain area too long but just long enough for it to leave its own lasting impression on you. GOD!!!!!! Best money I have ever spent on a game in a long time!

WoFF is so overlooked and I think big part of that is not only chibi style that some don't like but also that it was originally released so close to FF15 that got all attention. But from those two I ended up loving WoFF over FF15 as to me FF15 felt like huge let down in every possible aspect. I hope that Maxima will make more people try and love it so that we might actually get sequel for WoFF.
That's right, World of Final Fantasy and FFXV were released super close to each other weren't they haha I remember putting down XV cause I wanted to finish WoFF. I loved both in the end, but yeah, I remember being frustrated at the time cause WoFF wasn't at all getting the attention it deserves. Fingers crossed it picks up this time! It really does deserve more love :3

Picked it up for the Switch. I had just got done playing FFX on Switch, and it really rekindled my love for the franchise. So when I saw WOFF Maxima on sale on the eshop, I was like woah, what perfect timing! And WOW, I absolutely am enjoying it so much !!!✌
Thanks for this! I enjoyed World of Final Fantasy way more than I thought I would initially. I noticed on the PS4 that there's a $15.99 upgrade to the Maxima edition and I put it on my wishlist. I wish they were more explicit on everything that was added in the description. It's a little cryptic about all the content and what to expect aside from "more mirages" and "swapping your character for champions."
It is! I think they were much clearer on a livestream they did in Japanese (thankfully a few news sites translated it when I was checking what I’d tried :3), but we really didn’t get that info in English lol glad you enjoyed it though :))
Just ordered the physical Asian version with English support on Amazon.
didn't think i would like it at first but quickly fell in love with this game and the mirages and and its characters and i'm now addicted and can't stop playing it.....this game is going to give cyberpunk a run for its money in my opinion.
And cyberpunk was trash
Got 100 hours on this game on the switch so far. Easily in my top 10 favorite final fantasy games of all time. Plan on doing new game plus after I finish collecting everything.

Basically this is World Of Final Fanservice, they appreciated the fans of this series by creating a very good game! This is the best Fanservice ever

This is my fun theory on WOFF:
Why the main character is twins? Bcuz they represent both male and female FF player and Fans.
Why the main character forgot everything? Bcuz it will bring back nostalgic feeling to the old player, hence mybe some of cold player mybe totally forgotten their adventure of the previous FF game and for the new player they might want to discover more.
Why they have Lilikin (chibi)?
Bcuz FF 1 - 6 Start with those kind of graphic, if you boot FF1 right now, all makes sense. Starting from FF 7 and above the graphic was upgraded but most of the sequel/side game still used the smaller size character like FF Tactics and FF12 revenant wings!
I have think about more theory, but I think I just write down this 3 for now!
Those are good theories! I particularly like the one about the Lilikins, it really does make a lot of sense when you think of the character design differences :)

I loved WOFF when I first played it! I knew I had to play it when I thought of fighting on top of Ifrit's head! (My favorite summon from Final Fantasy)
I bought World of FF on my Vita, but I forgot why I didn't play it. I ultimately played it on my Switch. So far I'm close to the ending. I think I'm around chapter 17 or 18...

I got it on PS4 when it was released, but only played it for a few hours. It seems more fun than I thought it would be. Didn't know about the DLC. Thanks for the review, think I'll give it a second try.

I really enjoyed this first time around and although I wouldn't shell out for the Switch version (Handheld would be a bonus) I'll certainly take a look at the dlc for my PS4 version. Thanks for the update:)

I got addicted due to mirage collecting and mirage boards, everything else were just extra

i bought this originaly when it came out and liked it but i got distracted sadly i do plan on going back to it sometime
hope my old version wont leave me too annoyed if its maybe missing stuff this has ....ergh the stuggle of improved versions sometimes a bittersweet thing
What did you buy it on? :3 if it was PS4 or PC you can at least buy the updated stuff as an expansion DLC (Vita missed out though

Fair enough, you can kind of buy it in parts if you get the PS4 or PC version (buy the game cheap, then the DLC) to make it a little cheaper now, but I’m sure it’ll go down at some point :)

I traded it in when Maxima was announced for Switch.

Can you walk around outside of battle as the classic FF characters like Cloud?
So you can sort of play as certan final fantasy characters. Can you play as Vivi?
My main gripe with the game as the whole is how slow the battles are. I know you can fast forward in the battles, but it's not something I would think I have to do all the time
I really like Pokémon: the Final and the Fantasy (though I wish Lann could pick a consistent personality and intelligence level) a lot, but I'm still annoyed that neither of the Final Fantasy 9 Champions got a Champion Medal (of which Final Fantasy 7 got, like, 5, one of whom was a violation who didn't even appear in WoFF) or Champion Jewel, even discounting how I'm not really fond of Vivi sounding like Tommy Pickles from the original Rugrats series.
Vivi is a kid after all, really young

Still a shame that Maxima isn't available on the Vita. At first i thought this game is too girly and for kids because of the super chiby style only to find myself losing sleep because of it.xD
Speaking of Maxima, i finished this on Vita but i'm really interested on that zack and serah champions, since it has a cross-save feature, would my Vita save work on PS4 if i purchased the Maxima DLC?
Yes it would have the VITA Version as well and you can Import your Save through Cross Play Feature When you have purchased Maxima Update and START it for the First Time
Yeah, I think that's right. As long as you have both the PS4 version and use cross-save, it should all work :) it is a shame the Vita got left behind on this one, although I'm also not totally surprised since it's kinda being sadly phased out right now it seems. My Vita memory card has also always been the 4gb one and WoFF was definitely a squeeze when I first got it for Vita, so not hope Maxima would've fit on mine haha but it still would've been nice to have the option, yeah.
I hope you enjoy the Maxima stuff if you try cross-save though!

How do you stack a bat or bird? It flying
If it’s a big bird like Valefor you kind of fly on it, but if it’s a bat or smaller they either sit on you or fly directly above you :)
Would get on xbox one as its the complete edition. I only have a ps4 now though. Lol

Maybe I played it after it'd been patched or something, because I didn't think it was that bad, other than some random frame rate issues mostly in Nine Wood Hills (but they seemed to disappear when I was later in the game?)

I need to play the Final Fantasy series(yes, series, my experience with Final Fantasy is minimal, even though I'm a huge fan of JRPGs).
There are so many JRPGs and Final Fantasy games, that’s fair enough! I need to play more haha
15 is good for newcomers, most people don't like it, but it's pretty good, just not a classic final fantasy. 7 and 10 are good and have remasters on ps4
@@devin8367 in the case of 15, I refuse to play it as I don't buy games that use Denuvo DRM, which is fine, plenty of non-Denuvo JRPGs I can play instead.
