Hey y’all, thanks for dropping by my channel. My name is Zach, I’m 22, and I’m a full-time Fire Alarm System Inspector. I’ve been working in the fire alarm industry for two years now. Although, I’ve been in love with fire alarms in general for over a decade. I love what I get to do. Be sure to subscribe for more out in the field videos of fire alarms. And every once in a while maybe some tornado sirens will make an appearance. Have a great day and I sincerely hope you like what you’ll see here!! :-)

My now former high school has these alarms. They were switched to temporal code at some point but they are a lot easier on the ears than continuous horns

I agree all the way. They did that at my elementary school as well. When I started there as a kindergartner it was on continuous and stayed that way until 2nd grade when they switched it to Code 3. And then after I left there, they soon swapped it out for a nice Kidde voice evac system. When I first learned that, I said to myself “They couldn’t have done this a decade ago?” 😂

One of the 9838s sounded like a 4903

That horn although similar, is a 4901-9817 Fire alarm Horn. It is a rebranded Faraday/Pyrotronics version of the 6126B Line of horns, which were the final line of these horns. Unlike the 9838 horns, these feature a Silver Metal Plate and the same horn as the Siemens Electromechanical horns. Plus these had the Newer, Wider Simplex Logo on the front. The db reading is a little over 110 from what i read

@ZDC2002 As a person who has been born with a visual impairment his whole life, and developmentally delayed, I look back now in my past 34 years on this earth, and think to myself, these alarms weren't bad. the alarms in this video. alarms are my biggest sensory overload. they are insane. question for you brother, what model of alarm is this? i look back and tell myself, these particular alarms, especially outside my old elementary schools i attended growing up, were loud, but weren't as loud as those shrill whistle fire alarms or those loud school bell alarms. but let me know what model of alarm is this? i appreciate this sound over the 3 chirps, ever 2 seconds. and those being the loud recess whistle type of alarms. i despise those. but this type of alarm that goes on and on and on, i appreciate it. as a musiain, i noticed that the alarms in this video are in certain keys. musical note keys. one of them in "A", one in "G" sharp, a note below "A". at the beginning of this video, one of the alarms were in "B". very cool stuff if you ask me my friend.

One thing I will never understand is why they put such loud horns in tiny portables we had those in portables when I was in school they were so loud that it hurt our ears my ears would ring after we exited the portables just to give you an idea on how loud they were I can listen to aircraft afterburners with no earplugs and my ears weren’t even effected I have a very high tolerance of loud noises if it bothers me you know it’s way too loud it takes a lot to make my ears ring they don’t need those loud horns in portables they are way too loud all they need is a strobe

Those 4903 hornstrobes definitely have problems. I also remember when I had internship at a retirement apartment complex, it also had those same mechanical horns matched up with the same strobe plates as well as strobe plates with the horn only versions of 4903's mounted on. Though I never heard them in person, not even that time a resident's microwave filled one of the apartments with smoke, I remember how bad that smelled.

u are referring to the 4901-9805 horns on 4903-9101 plates. not too often do i hear of those combos but this combo is common in my area just with 4904 strobes
