    I knew about this location as it is in my hometown and I walk past it on a very daily basis I was quite surprised that the location has been sitting there ever since it has closed its doors in around 2011 or 2012 as much as I can find out about the property upstairs I didn’t even know that it was a nightclub for many years before it closed in around 2008 when I visited the location I was amazed that downstairs was a fully arcade system with all the 2p and 10p machines and even upstairs was a beautiful very latest feel of a nightclub
    History
    It was first called Saturdays, and opened in 1975 then it was called THE G SPOT in the early 2000s, after that in around 2005ish time it changed its name to waves and later on before it closed it was called George's nightclub
    And closed around 2011
    The arcade downstairs was used since the late 90s and the Arcade shut its doors in around 2012 or 2011 now of the building sets empty and disused about 2018 scaffolding was erected around the building and builders have been there for quite awhile entering the building very slowly there’s pan with mission to demolish the building and building block of flats in his place
    Update 2022 All of the Arcade Machines have been emptied out so dont bother going if youe planning of going to it
    ☆ DISCLAIMER: I do not force entry into any locations, neither do I vandalise or take part in any other criminal activity. I simply enter peacefully, record a video and take pictures and leave.and also I do not share locations i only name loactions if there been demoilshed then i name the loaction

    I used to work in this amusement arcade and remember the great laughter machine in the 70's and 80's with the big model robot outside...it was basically a fun house with moving floors and a maze of mirrors etc..Happy Days!....thanks for the video fella, very interesting.

    I scaffolded this before it burnt down and the project manager of the build said "you watch it'll be burnt down in a year"...look what happened!

    • @LewisMerrin
      @LewisMerrin  14 дней назад

      It’s been demolished because it had a fire

    • @toms7671
      @toms7671 14 дней назад +2

      @LewisMerrin yeah I know - I'm saying the fire was predicted by the project manager that worked on it before the fire.
      There was an application to turn it into flats - it was rejected. This is why the project manager said it would burnt down. The project manager was the one responsible for directing all the restoration work that was needed due to the leaking roof and collapsing sand stone walls behind the arcade. Local firm.
      Hastings is full of insurance jobs. 2x listed buildings suffered from arson jobs. 1 in particular was arsoned 3x in a week before it burnt down.
      Rife with corruption!
      Do a piece on the Hotel I'm Eastbourne that suddenly "caught on fire" 😂 Same guy who owns that owns Hastings Pier

    It was finally demolished in late 2023, around 10-11 months after being severely damaged by fire. There had been work being done on the building and it was in scaffold prior to that since about 2019. The Rainbow Restaurant next door was also damaged, but luckily that did not have to be demolished and there are currently builders working there with the hope of it reopening in the spring of 2024.
    I remember the arcade from when I was a kid in the late 60s/early 70s, it was then called Olympia and had Bumper Cars/Dodgems and [old] penny amusement machines. I remember the type of machine where you needed to shoot a metal ball into the right hole to win.

    @silentflier5144 Год назад

    Machines cleared out mid 2022. Badly damaged by fire on upper floor and most of the roof gone... January 2023. Shouldn't think they'll have too much trouble getting planning to demolish what's left.

    • @LewisMerrin
      @LewisMerrin  Год назад

      The arcade machines where moved around end of 2022 and it had planing permission on the 11th of last month in January 2023 and then fell through and on the 18 of January it got set on fire the fire the date and police have already done a statement. It has been targeted arson bur it’s too dangerous to be left there, so it would need to be demolished anyway because of the fire

      The building was always bad for leaks the back is against a cliff face, then with some bad rain eventually the ceiling in the over 18 collapsed causing the building to be closed for safety during the inspection with the plans to repair it was decided it would cost too much to repair. It has now been sold and the machines that where inside have been removed.
