    Definitely a gate hinge, the part that was pounded into the post had the hole in it, the gate had the peg (broken off on yours). The third mystery item has me stumped. Super interesting video, thanks for this one!

    Could the pocket knife that you found possibly be a Schrader brand? I'm going by the emblem. By the way, I believe you could find a railroad spike in the middle of the Sahara desert...lol. I still love watching your videos. Thanks Greg and keep on digging my friend

    • @FindingAmerica
      @FindingAmerica  20 дней назад

      It could be. I'm just not an expert on pocket knives so I am not sure. If I did put the coil down there in the desert, my first find would probably be a RR spike. lol Really glad you still enjoy the episode and I appreciate you watching each week! ATB Greg

      Actually I believe that back in the day they the brand was schrade Walden, and today they're schrade. Apparently Walden sold out...who knows for sure

    I lived right next to the remains of an old black smith shop as a kid. It burnt down years ago. Horseshoes and skeleton keys were numerous, just laying around. They weren’t seen as something to grab then. It’s private property now. Thanks for the excitement of what was there. I just watched PBS videos on certain black men in the Civil War of New York militia, so, nice button!

    • @FindingAmerica
      @FindingAmerica  21 день назад

      That's really interesting, Robin and I have yet to find any skeleton keys out there yet but there have to be a few there somewhere. Yes, NY had about 4,000 black troops and three regiments that fought in the war. There were around 80,000 black men fighting for the North and well over 90,000 fighting on the South's side during the conflict. Many went on to become Buffalo soldiers afterwards during the Indian Wars out west. Thanks so much for watching this one! ATB Greg

    Frost flowers are what I've heard them referred as. Frost flowers form when:
    The air temperature is freezing
    The soil is moist or wet but not frozen
    The plant's roots are still alive
    Might be the most amazing non detected find I've seen! Congrats on that!
    But the New York State button stole the show for me!
    Great day of digging! Congrats on all the goodies! Of course, the train pics are ALWAYS a cool bonus!

    Is the "pivot pin" mystery find possibly the top inside latching part of an old lock? They generally have a pivot pin or a pinning hole on the swing side and a notched end on the locking side.
    The other mystery find pieces I think could be to a gate hinge or some type of a door. If there were ever a site I wouldn't mind digging up iron it would be at the site of a blacksmith shop.

    Is that Matt Gaetz, the Florida congressperson who recently resigned, in the American Flag advert around the 6:00 mark in the video? Another great iron day for you. Rose nails are pretty cool imo.

      No, that's one of the owners of the business. There's a bit of a resemblance there from that angle. Always love finding that old iron and rose head nails are awesome to find. Not easy to come by here in E. TN. Thanks for watching this one, Adrien! ATB Greg
