Shwetabh addressed the real point here. Even Jordan Peterson gave a similar argument a couple of years ago. The main problem for most people isn't the fact that we are jealous of rich people. The problem here is. That we are jealous of people who are both rich and young. Because even if I (as a 19 year old) spent the next 10 years (let's say). I will most probably lose my youth for those financial gains. Even Charlie Munger addressed the same issue in his book "Poor Charlie's Almanack", that people want to be rich and young at the same time. They just don't wanna lose their youth. But for most people it will take a long time to be rich and they will most likely lose their youth in order to achieve it. But you have to accept it. And I still think it's worth it to dream big (in terms of numbers) instead of being middle class and live by pennies all your life.
Makes sense. Also it kinda proves why social media where you find all the so called influencers who are more or less teenagers getting all the fame and money, makes us feel jealous and also that we are underachieving.

@@lalitadithyag8604 for sure man. But more so. We miss the point that the celebrity types lose their careers in less than a decade. Because let's be honest. Most of these guys/girls got into fame because they were youthful and beautiful. They may have worked hard. But still their career won't last for long. And they are the ones who tend to fall into depression and all sorts of shit. Literally this is becoming a trend these days. Every celebrity opens up about their mental health once in a while and they talk about how they were taking drugs and how they fucked their life up completely. And how they go to therapy regularly and take anti depressants now. So, it's a message for the youth. Never think that somebody's life is perfect and having something 'xyz' will forever solve your problems. Just accept how life is and try to improve it little by little as time moves on.
@@Samurai_X_Batman For sure dude. But for me. And this took me quite some time to figure out for myself. To be exact it took me about 3 years to figure it out. For me, the real reason to have money is so that I can live a life where I eliminate all the money problems. And live a life with freedom. And even if it takes me 10 years to achieve it. It's still worth it. Because I am 19 right now. I will be 35 by that time ( worst case assuming the 10 year plan takes even longer, adding 5 more extra years). It's still worth it in every sense. I will be able to spend time with my wife and kids and give them the life that I never had as a kid. To be honest, even after a particular time you just get old. You will figure out that life is too short to fight for the money problems and all the bullshit that is generated through it. You just want peace and you wanna be mentally free. And that's it. That's why people in their 60's and 70's more often than not, dwell into spirituality. Whether it's right or wrong is a huge conversation in itself. But I think money is something that everyone should aim for at least once in their life.
Even in 30s you are actually young. Old age starts to set when you touch 40.

I literally was feeling so low after seeing few people of my age getting all that they want without any hardwork...
I got almost everything from my parents but still feeling empty inside. So Yes Even If I have those things that I wanted to have and got from my parents I am not happy nor Satisfied with it or with the life I'm going through. Padhai bhi Nahi hori even tho the lecturers are giving me and friends exact questions to prepare for the internal exams.. I dont study at all... Thats the problem with me. 🗿

1. If you are financial independent and earning very well leading to enjoy a good lifestyle then there is no point of being jealous bz in this case it's the result of that person's hardwork and he /she deserves a good lifestyle
2. If you are jobless or a student flaunting your lifestyle then also jealously doesnt make sense bz it's the result of parents hardwork not theirs .
Everyone has different family means different values , mindset and financial stabilty also . So if you do hard work and focus on your business then it will lead to a good career hence financial stabilty leading to a good lifestyle. Also it depends upon your instincts that what you want to choose either you want to be a govt official or want to be an entrepreneur. There is hard work and cut throat competion in everything and there is no ideal career. Every job has its pros and cons.

May be my way of getting the perspective is very wrong but I got the perspective years ago when girls of my company gave me more respect than to those who had cars, more physical build, more money and privilege access. However, when I figured out why these girls are respecting me more than those people I found out that it was bcoz of my behavior towards them, professionalism, and dedication towards work and knowledge. At that stage I realized what you taught in this video. We're all humans, and we're all same. If someone is rich and you got 0.001% of his income but ur morals, ethics and principles are clear then you'll be more valued by people than him and more respected than him. People abuse bollywood stars even they got lots of money but they're trolled bcoz they're sometimes rude to people. And even a middle class person is more respected if he's a good man. Ambani aur Tata ko hi dekh lo. Log Tata ki jada respect krege kyuki ameer hone k sath sath vo insaan bhi h charity krta h aur ambani ne sirf pesa kamaya h bss.

I literally need this video and who other than shwetabh can explain this topic in the most simple way. I passed my 12th this year and now all my friends are going to metro city but due to money problm i can't afford to go and take admission in metro city's colleges. Sometimes I starts crying why this happen with me why I born in lower middle class family but after this video I got clear view how I should move on from such things and do better in future. Just read your book. it was a good beginner book, easy language and good introduction to self help genre. Really good prospective I liked it.
This is very very true for my case. I am in a private school in London and people in my school are filthy rich with houses that cost £17 million and their parents are top comedians, actors, footballers (David Beckham), lead economists etc. Point is that they have everything I do not as my parents are well off but not as much since we moved to London 6 years ago. This relates to me so much but at a higher level. These guys at my school are on another level. Spending thousands of pounds on a night out.

We get jealous because we know that we too can achieve that but we are not doing something for it. We avoid doing hardwork and get jealous easily. There is nothing on this planet a human cannot achieve provided he give his 100%. Even after giving 100% he won't regret definitely there could be flaws jn strategies. Change the strategy and again try for it. If you really want something no one can stop you from achieving and if you are lazy then keep complaining and keep jealous of others.
