The performance on Queendom is really good, but this channel is solely about the music itself. In the live version you can't hear the nuances and select power of the composition. When I listened to this song in the car for the first time, I was blown away because there was so much more to the song that I couldn't hear in the live version.
I'm so sad we never got an MV for destiny, i really wanted full cinematic Western vibes with mamamoo as cowgirls on a ranch 😔
When queendom was first announced, i thought every group would release mv's for their final songs but instead only lion got one which was A++MAZING. All 6 songs deserve mv's 🥺 mnet clowned us lol

2:32 most underrated aspect of moonbyul that goes unnoticed thank you. She raps through the regular melody and tempo a lot of times and keeps such a good structure to it (not really sure how to describe it) without relying on a heavy beat drop. It’s so much harder to get it to flow in the way she does it, but she always kills it. Especially parts that she writes for songs like in immortal songs

I never thought of these lyrics as the story of two people in love. I always thought of it as the story of the members of Mamamoo being destined to find each other regardless of the "universe" they live in, which is what the whole concept of the HIP video was. But, hey, fair enough, every can interpret art how they want to. =)
Yesk Blanco that is the literal meaning of the lyrics but yeah same I’ve always taken it as Mamamoo being destined together even if they’re not Mamamoo and that no matter what hardship they go through they’ll still be together, especially with that ending pose they did on Queendom.
I said this somewhere else but I'll copy/paste it here because I think it's true. Solar has incredible power, Wheein has incredible control, Hwasa has incredible range, and Moonbyul has incredible presence.
penultimatum hwasa is my favorite ever, but her range isn’t her strength. Vocal texture and color though, no one even comes close to what she can do in kpop
@@John-nd7il I would agree - the husky/smoky qualities are incredibly rare across K-Pop. I think I formed this thought not long after seeing one of those 'Hey, Cle--o-pat-a-ra' high note challenges, where Hwasa went incredibly high without losing control. It was very impressive, especially for someone more commonly associated with the lower register.

When the one guy said, "Sultry," about Hwasa, I thought to myself, "Wait till you see her."
The members of Mamamoo focused on their vocals since (I think, but not sure) their company said they can’t be a cute/pretty type of girl group so you can really hear and see the effect of that through the diversity of their music.
They’re vocal queens and they worked on their visuals and performances throughout their career.

kaix I get it, though. The song starts out soft with the former lovers meeting, gets very intense, then ends again very soft, with the former lovers in each other's arms. It totally works.

As a musician, the first time i heard this song... I went crazy of how good the production and instrumentation putting in each layer and also vocals as always. It's so good.

Destiny is very different than typical kpop genre. It does a very good job in painting a picture, I also like how it is composed to balance the energy throughout the song. The vocals are heavenly and the "Ra Ta Ta" part is straight up fire

When she said: since it's a survival show they made this for the audience as an intimate thing to create a connection and not to put on a show or something. This is what I love about mamamoo, they don't focus on following trends or doing things to be noticed, they create art and back it up with legendary stages and that's how they got to the top, never once followed what the others do or a copy cat..

Great comments about the music, voices (James & Brianna about Solar & MMM as fine wine 👍), vocal arrangement & phrasing, rhythm, intimacy, and the debate about the ending that returns to the beginning and functions as an epilogue to the story (Fiona 👍). Spaghetti western OST meets future trap? Only MMM and their RBW producers could pull it off this well.
I think you should all watch the premiere performance of Destiny on Queendom to see how the song works in performance and because it tells a different story than the one Umu related. Mamamoo feels they were destined to be best friends regardless of whether they were in a group together and imo in the Queendom performance they told their story as a time-traveling kdrama style tale of souls who were fated to meet in multiple lives and go thru many dramatic struggles & failures before finally coming together to fulfill their destiny to be Mamamoo. The choreo is poetic and allusive rather than literal so you may think I'm reading too much into it but imo there are a half dozen moments and choices that can't be explained away as merely creating a nice stage picture and the iconic final pose may convince Daniel that the song's ending is justified. 😂

7:35 Ive been saying that's what sets mamamoo apart and perhaps why they most likely don't focus on choreography. They're about delivering the song, the lyrics, the emotions, how they would be if they were the ones in the position of doing or saying the lines that they're singing. Making it feel more personal than it is rather than just promoting another song. Also, knowing that the members themselves, maybe not all at once, have a hand in the production process makes it even more intimate when portraying to the audience

I love how they got an intimate feeling and an effort to connect with the audience from the song and talked about it, because that was exactly what happened in the live performance for Queendom. That was what set Mamamoo apart from the other groups. Even in the final round, Mamamoo were performing to reach the audience, because they know they can display their skills and charms the best when they are not specifically going for it and engage with the audience instead. Loved their reactions and analysis👍🏼
The concept of HIP's video is what would happen if MAMAMOO members were in different universes (while the text is about their uniqueness and that just fine as they are, performing their acts in life), but despite everything they will be destined to meet in each one of them, which Destiny is about and is one of their best songs.
The whole Reality in BLACK (abbreviation for Bless Life and Carry Knowledge) album is really good.

I used to have mixed feelings about the end, too, but I eventually realized that it was supposed to mirror the message of the song. We thought the end of the song was there in the way they thought the end of the relationship was there, but no, that's not the way destiny had it planned. The true "end" is the reminder that now the relationship is going to be rekindled and they "won't desert each other" in the way the first "end" seemed to signify with the sudden stop. To me, it's a perfect song. I don't consider myself very musically literate or knowledgeable so I don't pick up on things others might, but just as a listener, I adore it. Favourite Mamamoo song so far.
