  • Steph & Andrew immerse themselves in this heroic journey of ‘Shershaah’, a true story of valor and sacrifice. This biographical war film is based on the life of Param Vir Chakra awardee Captain Vikram Batra.
The movie features the talented Sidharth Malhotra (Student of the Year & Marjaavaan) in a double role as Captain Vikram Batra and his twin brother Vishal Batra. In 2015, when I visited the Kargil War Memorial for the first time and heard Capt Vikram's story, I was so emotional. I wrote to Vishal Batra after returning home and Vishal sir was very moved after reading my email. He asked for my number and called me up himself. We shared a very warm conversation, talked about Capt Vikram. Ever since, I text him every year on Capt Vikram's balidaan diwas. And he always sends such a warm reply. Our faujis and their families are so graceful even in their grief. I salute them all. Forever indebted to each one of our jawans.

Vikram's mother was expecting 1 boy after her daughters but she got twins and she was surprisingly happy. Later, when asked about Vikram after his martyrdom, she told that I was just expecting 1 but God gave me two sons because one is for this nation, for motherland 🔥❤️

None of the things in this movie was exaggerated .
He actually was the personality as shown in this movie . His wit , his valor , His banter everything was perfectly shown .
Also the close combat hand to hand combats and all the back and forth between both Pakistan's soldiers and Indian solders all happened in real life

@@god.usopp2yearsago115 In fact he was shot by a Sniper in the Chest and later a splinter from an RPG hit him in the head which is shown in the movie except the RPG hit.
Batra exposed himself to enemy fire to drag the injured soldier to safety, and in the process was shot in the chest by an enemy sniper from very close range, and a split-second later, by a splinter from an RPG which hit him in the head.

Only thing that wasn't true was Captain Batra seeing his team hoist the flag before passing. They say that he likely passed before being able to see it but his sacrifice did help his men locate the snipers to take out

1:46 The strategic significance of mountains in defense cannot be overstated. Their natural barriers, rugged terrain, and elevated positions make them formidable obstacles for potential invaders. This is exemplified by the case of Nepal, a small country nestled in the Himalayan mountain range. The challenging topography of the Himalayas has historically acted as a deterrent, contributing to Nepal's successful defense against colonization.

I visited the Kargil War Memorial. It is smack in the midde of Himalayas from where one can see the peaks which were won back by the Indian Army. The memorial has a small museum where some original letters written by the officers during war are kept. I read those had literally had tears. There were some really disturbing graphic details in those. A speech detailing out the war was delivered by one of the officers there followed by National Anthem. Everyone could feel the goosebumps. Truly a moment of Respect and Pride! Respect for the soldiers and Pride that India has never attacked..only defended their land with honour!

1:46 - The rightful citizens of the sovereign nation should own that territory. For you in US - it might be just some mountains. But for India, those mountains are the natural land barriers between 2 of its hostile neighbors. These mountains are of strategic importance as the nation securing the top of these mountains have the complete oversight of the fertile plains below, where civilians of the nation resides and all the defense establishments would be "sitting ducks". Maybe now you understand their importance.
Else, also - these mountains are the source of all the major river systems of Northern India - which brings enough of sediments into the flood plains to make that region as world's most populated region with sustained agricultural production. That's why these mountains are important for us.

Pakistan's official position was that the Indian Army were fighting Kashmiri separatists. While that may have been partly true, most neutral sources agree that the Pakistani Army were at least indirectly aiding the militants, if not actively fighting.
So they couldn't claim the bodies, as it would prove that their official story was false.

You should read up on Kargil War, Pakistan did not accept it was a war that happened because they would receive international backlash. They continued to claim that the Pakistanis that died were freedom fighters until eventually many Pakistani Army men were identified among the dead. US department of defense later stated atleast 700 Pakistanis died and 5000 military personnel were occupying the Indian territory this is how unethical Musharraf was, sending thousands to their death without recognition. It is also one of the toughest wars that could be fought because Pakistanis had the high ground, and our leadership refused to attack them elsewhere, if we moved into lahore or sindh as a counter attack, instead of climbing uphill, very few Indians would have died but it'd have been an all out war. People lauded the decision of then ministers but it came at the cost of army men. India back then feared international backlash, not anymore

You should definitely watch “Mission Majnu” movie if you liked this one. Siddharth Malhotra in the character of a soldier or a spy makes an irreplaceable impact.
