The Thing about Music in Indian Movies is that, we are more accustomed to it. We like it and it helps the situations more tennse or fun or emotional. I think, Jaby, more 10 years of indian movies, your music issue will be solved.

what i think is if acting and screen olay is enough strong..there no need of music..

@@saurabhashish15 agree bro. Take any action scene from saving private Ryan. It's just gun and blast sounds which make us be in the moment more. But we're transitioning from typical bollywood to realistic and I think eventually we're gonna make these changes- this is evident from the fact that there was no lip syncing to any song in the movie.

But this is also correct that we don't need random music videos in between the movie. The only example I could think of is Jai Jai Shiv Shankar song in war, which has no context with movie. And we don't want so many item numbers like we even have it in latest Ajay Devgan's flop, I don't remember the movie.

@@bratindas5814 Sometimes, when stakes are high enough, the best choice for a background music is to put NO MUSIC in the scene. I've seen it used sparingly in an Anime called Attack on Titan a.k.a. Shingeki no Kyojin. Silence in one particular scene was the perfect choice, despite the fact that Attack on Titan has some of the best background music ever created on Earth.

Ye Dil Mange more was a popular Pepsi slogan those days as it had a cast of Khuch Khuch Hota hai in that ad and it was aired during cricket world cup 1999. During the same time, Kargil war started and Capt Vikram Batra made that slogan immortal.
And the razor blade thing, soldiers used to carry razor blade to keep them clean shaved. Being Clean shaved is part of discipline in the indian army. We didn't have the kind razors back then which we have today.

Dimple in real life never married, as she feels she is already married to him, minus any pension benefits ofcource, as it was not legal. And she decided to live her rest of life holding on to that what they had rather than move on and have her own family. Genuine honest people with sacrifices everywhere. there is no pressure, as she never comes in front of camera and average people on street wont know her, so there is no societal pressure to not marry, on the contrary knowing Indian parents, there would have been a lot of pressure from her family to move on, and i mean a lot like constant.

Jaby I get what u mean when you say they were joking on the battlefield.. if not for the war they would have been friends cracking such jokes over beer. However, I disagree. The scene probably looks n sounds as if it's a joke but the intent of the Pakistani soldier was not to make the situation light with a few jokes.. I think its because you don't get the insult in his tone since u don't speak the language. His intention was to insult indian women especially the actress. To be honest it was a very indecent thing to do to joke n bring an actress in the middle of a war n say something so derogatory.. it only shows that the pakistani soldier wasn't doing this as his duty towards his country but was gaining pleasure out of the war. Pls note that he didn't ask for Madhuri dixit in an innocent manner out of respect for her. It was meant as an insult n in a derogatory manner towards the actress n it clearly provoked Cap. Batra. Since he was a funny guy himself, he replied jokingly but it was not something that was taken lightly. If u ask me, if they were not in War and were simply two guys at the bar and had this guy said smth so derogatory about a woman belonging to other guy's country, religion o ethnicity, they wouldn't be sharing a drink to that instead it would start a fight between them. Imagine how it will feel if the bartender says to you that I'll give u the booze for free if u let me have ur hot friend over there.. it was almost like that.

It is good to see that in India too realistic films are made.
Biopics are normally very boring and hence they are dramatised to make it appealing for the audience. Dhonis biopic is example which became a huge part hit and on the other hand Sachin's biopic was made as a documentary and flopped.
Vikram Batra's biopic is very realistic and very emotional. Feel proud of army as an Indian to have heros like Captain Vikram Batra .

Music is bollywood or in india is not just to listen and enjoy it as just as piece of art, but moreover a way to relate and go through that particular moment with the lyrics and music composed. We are familiar by the language and the words which actually mean and relate to that emotion. That's why music can't be excluded but has to be included as a emotional connect with audience

Music is inseparable part of commercial Indian movies. But the fact that the movie was not overly dramatized or fictionalized is very unique to Indian cinema.
Few Indian cinemas are only made for art and their objective is not to make money but to showcase the art of cinema. Such kind of cinemas which are called as art cinema or parallel cinema mostly doesn't contain any music, even if it is there then it will be like a radio or a gramophone or a stuff like that playing in the background.
In India, an actor who works in art cinema is called a real actor and hence several actors, who wants to prove themselves as good actor at least once in a lifetime work in an art film.
Anyhow, art films or parallel cinema is almost dead in India and if at all they are made then it will be mostly or primarily for national or international awards. This is because of two things, first because of multiplexes which do not show such movies and secondly because of too many TV channels. In good old days when only two channels DD national and DD metro were available then people were forced to watch art movies because there was no third choice, either they watch the movie or shut the TV.
