This might be a normal feat for Spartans and even more so for the 2s. I think Spartan 2s grow stronger with age? so due to cryo Jerome is only 20 years old, that is probably only a fraction of what he’d be able to do.
@Mr Lion yeah Halo Wars likes to flex that the Spartans are op, like remember when Red Team beat all those honor guards without breaking a sweat? one of the elites does the lamest stab attempt ever, its kind of silly.
And remember, Jerome is a former washout. Injured and deformed after the first round of augmentations. Jerome and the rest of red team were rehabilitated. Likely weaker than their S2 brethren.
I think we saw the opening from Isabell's perspective, how there are only glimpses of Jerome handling the elites, only react a second after the fight's done.
Eddie Hall has the world record for the deadlift, 500kg lifted clean off the floor. The lift was so hard he almost died, with his heart rate jumping to over 200 beats per minute, his eyes, nose, and ears started to bleed, and he passed out completely not long after. That in my opinion is the current peak of strength. Jorge makes that look like warm-up weight

Remember their body posture? They always fucking Hunch. THe average Sangheili goes to 7'8 or 239 cm. Kurt is just 10 cm over their Average. They would have to raise their Head, but it was nothing never seen before
If I remember correctly, chief is a jack of all trades spartan, and that's why hes so deadly.
If he cant out shoot you, he will use stealth and close the gap.
If he cant out run you, he will use his strength if he couldnt face you in a bout of strength, he would use his agility and so on. Its things like this that mean theoretically it could take a whole team of SIIs to subdue him. If I'm incorrect let me know.
Sexy John Candy you’re incorrect. Chief himself thinks that Fred is his equal if not better on several cases but that he doesn’t want/have the drive to beat him. It’s talked about in the fall of reach novel I believe.
Sexy John Candy I think it just got to the point that they wouldn’t turn on him then factor in pretty much every SII would follow his order and blue team especially would follow him to the death make them THE most terrifying group of people in the halo universe.

Chief was hyper lethal, so theoretically yes he’s the deadliest spartan alive currently. However, that being said most Spartan IIs are comparable and the only other non Spartan II close to this level was Noble 6 who was also hyper lethal. Modern spartans don’t compare
Are Spartans IV also that tall? Because changing height of adult is far tougher than "increasing growth rate" of a child.
They are not as tall, they range from 6,10 to 7ft so they are slightly smaller
They vary, as do all generations. The IIs had the most homogeneity because they were selected from a very strict gene pool, but even with them, as this video talks about, there were outliers. Sam-034 was ridiculously tall, before and after augmentations. Jorge is depicted as being much bulkier than other IIs. The IIIs saw more variation in size because of loosened gene restrictions, but still fairly similar.
With IVs, they are generally larger than average people, as you would expect, but their height/weight has the most variability.

@@LAV-III 6'12"? Isn't that the same as 7'? But I remember Palmer looking as John-117 comes by and she is smaller than him by a wide margin. Although an inch or two can easily be written off, because she doesn't have a helmet and he does, there is 4-6 inches of difference easily (I rather prefer Centimeters, so she is 10-15 cm shorter). If we adjust for the fact that Mjolnir has the same width of armor for everyone, regardless their height - than her appearance is further compounded because she has the same width soles as Master Chief. So even 20 cm of height difference is well in acceptable range. I was more curious about logistics. Extending the "length" of an adult - if we assume they are lying down during operation, would require replicating the effect that growth plates in children. Which would mean that a full skeleton reconstruction would have to be done before or during an ossification process. Normally I would say it is impossible to do so on such a large scale (the amount off blood you'd need to put into different pipes to circumvent it with a live heartbeat, would be very dangerous to patient and impossibly taxing to the doctors), but if you put the person in a Halo type cryostasis, it would be doable. Without heartbeat, you could replace most of skeleton, organs, veins etc. in a span of couple of weeks (it's then more about durability of doctors and how much the process is automated). Doing it the "normal" way would not only be dangerous, but a logistical nightmare - couple of week long operation on a single human - 500 subjects x AT LEAST 3 doctors per person and you're doing it in a batches of 50, because you want everyone to be augmented within a year. so 150 doctors minimum, 50 fully equipped operation tables with idiotic amounts of life support systems etc. It would be cheaper to put people in cryo and just do it at your own pace.

Oisin Staines Grunts are actually exceptionally strong, definitely stronger than humans. With their claws they can rip and tear a human apart. They can also one hand a fuel rod cannon with no difficulty. Their twitch reflexes are also exceptional their capable of pulling a trigger fast enough to be indistinguishable from full auto.
They can also learn incredibly quickly so it only takes a fraction of the time for them to learn complex skills.

Y’know, given that Kurt was 8ft 2, I’m starting to wonder why Tom and Lucy were so surprised the inhumanly tall dude with unmatched experience and intellect was a Spartan.

Probably due to lack of exposure maybe? They’d only ever known him as their trainer... probably never occurrent them that he was actually their predecessor. The II’s probably think the same thing of Chief Mendez, who was apparently hinted at being one of the Orion soldiers retroactively reclassed as the Spartan-I’s.
Julian Tremblay Maybe, but Mendez at least LOOKED normal and didn’t show the levels of abnormality of Kurt, a giant by Spartan standard, sure he was a great soldier, trainer and in incredible shape, but Tom and Lucy clearly knew of the Spartan II’s based on their reactions. And I mean, who better to train a Spartan than a Spartan?

Either way, if anyone else had been there and met Kurt first thing they would have guessed is Spartan. Especially since proportionate to his body size and mass, Kurt's hand's would have likely been able to wrap around a regular average sized human skull like it was a friggin baseball!

Halo Legends, in general, exaggerated the Spartans' abilities, but that was the point of it being called "Legends," which are hyperbolic accounts meant to inspire awe and wonder. I actually like that aspect of it, since it leaves a lot to the imagination.
4:19 I get why Kurt decided to go with SPI during the Onyx conflict but it's just a f***ing stupid idea in practicality. If you're going into battle and Mjolnir is an option, you take it. Even if the only option doesn't have shields, you take it. If the only option is Seeker, you take it.

@@slicenature9734 if I had been Tom or Lucy during that situation, I would have asked to wear it. I don't even know why it was a big deal... other than the fact that Ghosts of Onyx was released before Halo: Reach. There were at least 4 or more Spartan-III Mjolnir teams (5/6 or more if Owen-B096 and Kevin-A282 weren't part of Gauntlet, Red or Echo Teams and on seperate teams) and just under 300 Alpha and Beta Company Spartans removed for Mjolnir missions (not counting Alpha washouts mentioned in the novel).

Kurt, Josh, Li, Anton and Will are by far my favorite expanded universe Spartans. With Kurt and Will tied for 1st. And I shedded a tear reading Will’s death.

Jorge can run with a M247H HMG, albeit slightly modified, other Spartans move much slower when carrying turret based weapons.
And that with the massive Ammo bag on his back.
On the topic of george vs chief strength. Imagine those strongmen competition where they flip the wheel of a tractor, they are essentially pivoting the wheel off of the ground. Imagine if those guys could bicep curl that wheel. That's how strong George is compared to Chief but instead of a tractor wheel, they're flipping and curling the entire tractor itself.
Gray team at one point uses a Mongoose as a melee weapon so thats a pretty good test right there.

i think you made a mistake on jorge's height. I tried replaying that bit like 5 times and it keeps sounding like you're saying jorge is 7'4" with his armor. Unless the halo wikipedia: halo fanon and halo alpha | fandom is wrong. Jorge was 7'4" without his amor and 8 ft with.
cody morris Yeah Jorge, Kurt, and Sam as kids all stood nearly a full head above the others and this was made only more obvious with the armor. 343 retconned and modified some of the sizes though, since Bungie had left it vague and unless specified entirely up to fan perspective with some context.
I want the games to show is more of the visceral killing power that the Spartans are capable of, in cutscenes.
The real point of this video is, Spartan Melee attacks are actually scarier than bullets.

I think Chief's statement of Sam being the "Strongest" was more or less in a sense of duty, or character, he did sacrifice himself for the greater good, which one could argue as being a strong individual to do so. He was the first to do so, and with no real hesitation.
I think that if we were ever to see Spartans move like they're able in a cut scene or trailer, it would have to be a one time thing, something shown from the PoV of a regular human/alien who is just barely able to comprehend the Spartans moving around them. It's difficult to even visualize people moving that quickly mentally.
If they constantly were shown to move as fast as they can, all we would see is blurs of color, which isn't fun. I thought Halo: Forward Unto Dawn, did a great job of showing there capability without just blurring them when Chief literally just vanished from next to the cadets. They turned their heads for less than a couple of seconds and he was just gone, moving faster than they could see.
That's why I think the theory that we see the game/cut scenes/trailers the way Spartans see the world, makes the most sense. Otherwise we would be left staring at the dust in their wake.
Anime does this all the time, even live action shows and movies have pulled it off (example: vampires moving so fast that they're perceived as nothing but a blur.)
I imagine it just like Dragonball-Z, hate or love the show, they did often show what the weaker fighters/non-fighters saw when Goku and co were fighting the big bads, it wasn't always shown from the point of view of you being fast enough to keep up with their movements.
@@obiitom I'll admit, the last time I watched DBZ was many years ago, so I'll take your word for it lol. I agree that it adds some unsettling perspective to watch people fight faster than you can track, that's for sure. Definitely shows the severe gap between Spartans and everyone else.
I'm not opposed to it, but outside of H3: ODST we play as the supersoldiers, so it makes sense that everything moves at what we perceive as 'normal' speed.

IDK what about Sam if Sam had lived would he be as tall if not taller. Sam was 7,4 at 14. Both novels they appear in both being written by Eric Nylund.
Sam 034 was in original canon 7.10ft tall. Which would have made him 8.4 ft tall in armor.
So before Bungie decided to gimp him he was the tallest at the time.

Has their ever been a melee weapon developed specifically for Spartans? I suppose their punch would be lethal enough (actually surprises me how weak basic melee attacks in the games can sometimes feel).
With Spartan's strength & reflexes even a small rock could be thrown with lethal power & precision. Having that much strength opens more possibilites than just what we experience in the gameplay.
They probably throw small rocks like a goddamn cannon.
If they do make anything other than a combat knife, it would probably be rather expensive relatively speaking. Otherwise they’d snap or break whatever it was in one swing.
@@SierraMC now that i think about it its kinda weird how little Spartan-specific weapons there are in general, like large-caliber snipers, shotguns etc. Wouldn't really be that expensive to just make 'x big gun', especially when you know it will be put to good use
Dire Yeah, but if they make something tailored for Spartans you run into the red tape of budgeting for R&D. Look at Mjolnir. Each gen1 suit near the end of the war was costing near as much as a cruiser! The top brass more than likely considered it wasteful to specially design weapons for the Spartans when the project made them effective enough already with already mass produced gear. Hell the brass got to a point where they stopped Halsey’s upgrade based system for the suit to save money...
Sadly, even when facing eradication money is always gonna put a pin on a groundbreaker unless its the only thing left in your hand.

Jorge is 8'0" in armor, 7'4" out. As for Samuel, he was only 14, they grew more after the augmentations.
I'm only ~5'9, I went to high school with a guy who was 7'2". Huge difference in real life.

Ah yes, Master Chief. Took out a few Halo rings, mainly took the covenant out alone, Didact, with some help multiple wardens, the average joe(John) Spartan
The one thing you should look into is that 343 actually retconned Sam’s height when they made Fall of Reach animated to ensure they didn’t need multiple model sizes for the scenes. Prior to this, Sam came in at a whopping 8’4” in mjolnir at 14 years old. They did that for some of the other II’s as well to make them all seem relatively close in comparison to one another save for their personalities.

Master Chef is a average Spartan but has the best luck.
Fred is the most skilled Spartan.
John is the most well-rounded Spartan with Fred being an extremely close second.

@DxnnyLy Yeah Fred does outrank John and yes Fred does cede operational command to John because until Kurt was recruited by Ackerson, John was the highest ranking Spartan. Fred was always his XO.
A CraftyHuragok if Fred is your favorite you may or may not want to read Halo Last Light, and Halo Retribution. He gets a lot of page-time but they make him like a damsel in distress at times.

Jorge, Kurt, Jerome, and Chief were always my personal favorite Spartans in Halo. I also have wondered who would be considered the most elite Spartan out of all of them, besides the Chief.
If you pause at 7:32 you can actually see that Jorge is using both his arms when carrying noble six not just the one shown in the cutscene

I wonder how the war would have went if the UNSC had managed Ron capture the ‘ Unyielding’ (ship Sam died on) intact instead of blowing it up.
Great for study, even if nothing else. I also recall something about Cortana making a Covenant warship much more efficient by running it far better than covenant software, so as a testbed/reverse engineering gold mine run by a smart AI, it could probably be quite scary.

I think when John said Sam was the strongest of them he was referring to his character, personality, and willing est to do for others...

John isn't an average spartan honestly maybe physically he is but he has a lot of will and luck he is willing to take action in being the leader and to do shit to get stuff done on his own or with a team
6:57. Where exactly is that bit of info that says Spartans NEED their helmets on to unlock their armor's full power? Can't seem to find that.
I dont remember what book. However I'm pretty sure one of them mentioned the requirement of having all of mjlnior armor to run at max capacity when the Spartans body becomes basically perfectly attuned to it. The neural link etc Is also all done through the helmet to the brain. So it also makes sense that any true enchantment needs to be from the brain and that link is through the helmet. However he also mentioned that the armor still amplifies some of the users strength.
@@yulfine1688 That however begs the question about non-spartan enhanced humans. We know that most ship captains are augmented with a neural interface, but none seem to ever wear any headgear. Thoughts?

@@JZ5U their neural setup is directly linked to the brain. Spartans have it as well. However we already know the captains do not have any sort of real enhancement to their strength and so forth.
Let’s take the strength that you are talking about and compare it to an elite or brute. John in his full armor got beat twice by 2 different elites. Smacked back by a flood form and manhandled by a brute. How strong without armor could a brute or elite be? And then with their armor as well. It’s crazy to think something as strong as a brute uses power armor but you gotta remember that they do too.
Perhaps John 117 was calling Sam the strongest in relation to him being the first combat loss and making the sacrificial choice.
The cutscenes don’t help you get a sense of the weight of Spartans in armor, I never really thought anything of it when Jorge lifted 6. Then you see Alice struggling to pull Douglas’ body, really goes to show how strong Jorge was.
Last comment: Kelly can run wayyyyy faster. In First Strike she ran so fast she kicked up Forerunner tiles as she was running. And started so quick in Ghosts of Oynx that she made a *poof* of dust like a cartoon character.

Now picture this. A SPARTAN II gets a nanosuit 2.0 (Crysis) and fully integrates with it (like Prophet did in C3). Now this SPARTAN dawns a suit of MJOLNIR GEN2. In addition, the SPARTAN is paired with a UNSC smart AI like Cortana. What would they be capable of? Moving at 90 mph? Flipping a Frigate? Winning the war by existing?

343 just needs to go all out with Halo: Infinite and show what a Spartan can really do. Maybe have a scene where John or Fred is cornered by a bunch of elites and just have either tear through them like paper. Like a toddler having a rampage but instead of blocks they throw 8ft tall and 1,000 pound behemoths
I mean they kind of showed this with Jerome where he just picks up a Brute and yeets him across the room with 1 hand and Locke had some pretty crazy feats in those trailers where he literally tackles a Banshee out of the air not sure if thats canon though
George only lifted a fraction of Noble-6's weight one-handed. He used both hands to pick up 6, AND they were in low gravity in the Covenant ship.
And now john demostranted while injured that he lifted a 100ton boulder clean of the ground

I would say that the best Spartan would be Fred 104 because he is said to be the 2nd best at everything. And I often wonder if whether Fred instead of John had been on the Pillar of Autumn, would he have been at bit more clinical in his approach since it seems to me that one of the reason's that Blue team has been so successful without John is that Fred is a slightly better leader.

In cutscenes we’ve never seen a true feat of strength until we see Jerome when he boards the Enduring Conviction in HW2 and he freaking slaps an elite and sends him flying across the room. Even this isn’t even that strong for a spartan but I think it’s the strongest we have seen if you understand what I’m saying. I wish they didn’t do the whole flash black cut back to the fight flash black filming for that scene because it wouldn’t been one of the first CQC fights we’ve had.

The stats for Kurt always bugged me because even for a Spartan he is way too tall. He wouldn’t have been able to use any UNSC vehicles without special modifications, not to mention that most UNSC weapons would almost be too small for him to use. I love him in the books, but I always imagine him about 2 inches taller than John.
I honestly think the height we were given in the book was in error. Nobody in the book comments on his exceptional height either. No inner thoughts regarding this giant of a man or wide eyed expressions of awe.

Fred, hands down, deadliest spartan in cqc with knives.. Master chief himself said that fred often held himself back so that master chief could lead.. Even though Fred had leadership qualities, he often deferred to master chief because of their friendship..
Honestly 00 downplayed Kelly's reflexes... Heavily, and I understand why because it's so hard to quantify in combat and it's frankly insane what she does.
She is fast to the point that she scared John following the augmentation process and he stated that "no one could touch her unless she allowed it" implying even Spartans weren't able to do so, this is supported later when she's is show having to slow herself down considerably to even give Fred (arguably the most skilled spartan 2) a chance in a hand to hand sparring Match, and through the series she is refered to as a "blur of motion" even by other Spartans.
Heck she was jumped by a spartan 3 in Ghost of Onxy from behind and still had time to spin around and grab them and after they try to slip away she promptly sent him flying 2 meters into a tree knocking them out in one hit.
A few chapters later she then went on to side step a sentinel laser that was fired from less than 1 km away. A laser beam that likely travels some small percentage of the speed of light.
Kelly is a fast runner no question, but she isn't massively faster than the others in a sprint. It's her reflexes that are frankly an order of magnitude above every other Spartan.

Halo 5 had its issues, but the cutscenes were amazing. It’s a shame we don’t get more content showcasing this kind of thing. I didn’t finish the tv series, but it would have been nice to see them flying through a battlefield like that.

While it wasn’t the best game, I think the opening for Halo 5 was an excellent display of what Spartans can do. I mean yeah, the 4s are “average joes” compared to the 2s, but their movements were fluid, fast, powerful, and precise. I would LOVE to see a video of Blue Team doing the same, if not better and faster.
The Problem why Sam isout of the equation, was that Sam never saw "Real" Combat. He died stopping a bullet for chief, in the first Covenant Fight and i believe, before they stopped growing. Sam was the biggest, before they stopped growing, imagine what kind of Unit he would have become, as he stood at the same Height as Number Two and Three on this List.
Also, it Could be argued, that the "Best" Spartan could be Fred, as Chief mentioned a few times, that Fred disliked the spotlight and most of them time, could have been first in their(the Spartans, not John and Fred's) competitions, if he wanted to.

On a slight point you missed it isnt actually mk.6 thats quoted with the 5 times strength multiplier its actually mk.4 from when the first suit up and halsey is giving them a breakdown on some of the systems and in all likely hood means that mk.5 and mk.6 are actually even higher than that 5 times multiplier quoted from the first book in the series especially with the upgrades to systems and materials over time in relation to the mjolnir platform
