Hyped to finally see this series air, would love too see your guys view point on ti bars since i saw that recent photo of yours. I've been riding mine for a while and it has improved my riding abilities and balance a lot.
Such a great demonstration of what to lookout for when using SCS. Never realised how much trouble can be caused if the SCS slit isn't parallel. Would love to see a video explaining in depth about headset bearings, the common problems you notice people have with them (like why they creak sometimes) and how to maintain them. Keep the Tuesdays At Tilt videos rolling!!!
That answers so many of my questions I have had about my clamp. It’s odd that so many people, including myself, have no idea that we are risking loosening our compression every time we ride. I love hearing about the engineering and functionalities of the design of different Scooter parts. I think that spreading more of the production side of scootering can help push people to create better parts for our scooters.
I think having these informative-style of videos is really important, especially for those that are learning to build a custom scooter and are unsure on exactly what to do. It was great to see hands-on examples too, it just emphasised that the things that were said actually made sense and can affect how well parts fit together.
Great video, I’ve always had problems with my scs loosening and never really thought it was such a simple fix, big shout out to Tilt for amazing quality on their products!
This was a great video to watch so through time i can learn from my mistakes before i even do them. I just realized how hard tilt works to make sure that everything comes up to par. Thank you for imforming me so i can stay safe
I did not realize the importance of circumference vs diameter and the explanation of bars pulling out makes sense. I’d love to see a video explain the production of wheels and the ideas/technology behind them. Already liking this series
Really really good video. So few companies really appreciate the value of good tolerances in components. Perhaps you could make a video on how to properly service/regrease an integrated headset in the future?
Collin i messaged you about this exact problem and this video really helped my figure out what was going on with my scooter, the paint on my proto retro v3s is thick af and that intern is giving me about a half millimeter of difference between the bars and the forks. my clamp i am running the tilt SCS LT and the tilt sculpted fork so i didn't think they were the problem but my bars were coming out after about an hour of riding pretty hard my bars were literally coming out as i went to hop, but i am gonna sand it down and hopefully this will fix my problem thanks so much for the video and for helping my out when i reached out to you guys on Instagram. all and all i love your products they and perfect and stylish , the team is sick every on a part of tilt is great. thanks so much for revolutionizing scooting and looking into the actual reasons why things happen rather then just brushing it off. #TILTLife
Finally this series is out! Been waiting since those Insta Teasers :p And also in the future could you talk about the pros and cons of backsweep, and offset. I have been riding scooters for awhile now, and I can notice a difference in riding with offset and backsweep but I don't fully understand what all of it means. Keep up the great work everyone at Tilt, can't wait to see those decks that you're testing in the summer!
Hopefully you keep doing these type of videos. Love to learn new things. You could also make riding episodes or something like that. I'd enjoy watching it.
It was a very useful video for me to watch because you explained in very good detail how the penny trick actually works. Also my bars have been shredded for a long while now so I would love those scout bars man 😉 if you read this then thanks for your time Collin
you guys should make a video explaining the evolvution of Tilt, i find it so cool how a company went from nothing to something like how you guys are now
This is great. Would have never thought that something as insignificant as paint could affect an entire scooter. This reminds me of the old Proto videos with Andrew talking about the SCS or the evolution of the Space Deck.
I learnt that if your painting or hydro dipping forks or bars tape or cover the bits were its going to come into contact with the SCS. -Great vid Collin!
This video answers why my friends always experienced bars pulling out (one of them really hurting himself) whilst I didn't have any of those issues but now I understand , they had proto clamps that had to be stretched a lot and bars with powder coating while on the other hand i have tilt bars compression and fork which fit perfectly without forcing the clamp, i'm telling all of my friends this so they know what to buy next time to not have their bars pull out and eat shit bc they where going fast an furious 😂😂😂😂😂, thanks for the video ❤️
It was kinda mind blowing thinking that just a tiny layer of paint can be the determining factor in a fork snapping or people blaming a clamp for their bars slipping out. I'm definitely gonna think twice about painting my parts
Uh, finally somebody addressed the clamp slit alignment issue in a video. I've been meaning to do that myself for a while but Colin explained it perfectly here. For an SCS instructional i was kind of expecting a "How to use an scs for dummies" -type of a video at first glance, you know, addressing the methods how to properly tighten and untighten the clamp without breaking any bolts nor threads within the clamp, why having no slit on the bars eliminates a problem that belongs to the last decade, etc, basically information for beginner use. Maybe that's already scheduled for a future video?
Hey Madis! Thanks for the feedback. We'll produce a video about proper clamp maintenance including importance of grease, larger bolt size, and tightening sequence.
This was really helpful! Me and my friend are both riders but we've never worked with production before, but now we're just about to start a school project where we CAD all the parts for a complete scooter, try putting weight on the parts in CAD like you showed in episode 2 and mill everything out, and this really showed how important the tiny measurements are, so thank you. We really couldn't find much information and help upon the production on a scooter online, so we'll definetly use this series as help!
Thanks, that helped a lot, I have bern dealing with this issue for years now actually! You should make a video om which headset spacers to use for specific decks and forks because that seems to be an issue as well:) thanks again
I've been scootering for a long time I came here thinking that I cannot learn anything new about SCS and it turns out that I was completely wrong. All the other companies never talk about this problem (who knows why😅) and even I realized that it is soo important. So big thanks to TILT for really caring about their scooter parts and making scootering better and better sport.
That definitely helped a whole lot tilt one of my fav companies just can’t afford new parts bin having trouble with my scs and fork made it so much better 💪🏽👌🏽💯#tiltlife
it would be great to learn about how different wheels affect the ride and durability of a scooter (different urethanes, different core designs and different sizes - width and length)
We'll make sure to cover wheels. We will most likely start with the importance of rebound (speed). We also have 30x120 fork, wheels, and deck in the works, so the size will most likely be covered as well :)
You guys should demonstrate what makes you guys better than all the rest, show the work that goes in and show the products being used. Make it like the old thrash resistant video with issac miller, I don't think enough people understand the work and dedication in tilt as a brand
Thanks for the feedback! As these videos start rolling out, I think the effort will show for itself. We're thinking about meeting up with some of the guys like Issac to test/compare some new parts in person for this series.
Thank you so much this video helped a lot cause my bars were doing this , and also you should make a video of how you design your parts get the materials and how you make the final product. And a how to anodize would be sick. Love tilt am currently riding 3 of your parts and am planning zon buying the deck you come out with❤
I think that a video on the design process of a product such as a fork or a clamp would be really interesting. Been working on some designs myself and I have to say its way harder than it looks. Also a video on different types of wheels and the urethane on the tilt wheels since I know that its fairly different to other companies'. Maybe talk a bit about the shape of the urethane itself, I own a pair and I have realised that the wheels get wider towards the middle of the urethane.
You should do a review on proper peg installment. Ive seen personally some people run into the issue of axles bending and bearings breaking because of such. I always make sure the hex part of the axle is inside the peg.
Damn i definitely learned something from this video, you guys should definitely make some videos that go in dept on things like why kids should have bearing spacers in their wheels, how tilt got started, how you come up with design and products and even plans that you guys have for the future of the company. I love what y’all are doing for the community much love from Canada. #supportriderowned
Damn, this taught me so much about my scs setup. My old affinity bars did this and I always wondered why it felt so weird. Now I can advise against my friends painting their scooter parts without proper precaution.
I never realized how much the coat of paint on a scooter part could obstruct the ability to put them together. Also when will there be new apparel coming out, and any dates of the tilt deck release?
I've always used HIC but I'm going to switch to SCS just for the added height. This video helped because I would have for sure used the penny trick since I use it on my HIC which doesn't really matter
Well I’ve learned that the proto scs ive been running these past few months should be put back in a drawer and that I should put back my trusty tilt scs that i had no problems with. that has lasted me almost three years and still tightly fits on my bars and fork, unlike my proto scs which is causing me so many problems.
I learned that I need to stop using the spreader bolt on my proto scs and that I should probably get a tilt scs next time! I love the arc scs anyway! you make amazing products! your headsets and the smoothest I can just never afford them :'(
Aye thanks for saying this because I have a tilt Arc scs with a aztek anthem fork and had to do the penny trick which work but it still wiggles because the fork is to big it sucks but I got use to it so thanks for making this video
This is so cool. Video idea: talk about the early days of the brand Tilt and how it all started because that would be really interesting. Much love boys
It would be amazing if you did a video on the importance of bar ends for safety as I see riders at my local cutting themselves on handlebars or the importance on putting bearing spacers in between bearings as bearings can cave in and shatter causing injury
hey man, i love tilt as a brand so much. the legacy fork was the first aftermarket part i ever bought for my scooter and i rode it for almost two years without any problems at all. this video was interesting to watch and i learned even more about my favorite brand and how important attention to detail is!! thanks again so much for the info. my homie will love that red scs and fork too!! maybe in another video talk about the design process of one of your parts? i’d love to see all the behind the scenes :) -sage l.
Thanks for the feedback! As we have new products roll out, we will include some of the design process so everyone knows how we end up with the final design.
Thanks, I really enjoyed this video and now I can tell my friends to not use te Pennie trick and fix it how you did. I really appreciate how much you care of making good scooter parts. I would want to see next how you guys design your parts and make strength tests. I have a legacy fork and it’s about die and I know you guys don’t make em anymore. I would like to win a fork as a giveaway, Thanks!
I ride HIC for this very reason, to many precise problems with SCS. but knowing that it should be same size all round makes sense, just like tightening all clamp/scs bolts evenly.etc I also find that sometimes with SCS are the bars that have thinner wall thickness bend in very slightly at the end, which would run into the problem explained in this video. not only that with most other compression there is a substantial inner bar support with forks.etc, my point is that SCS bars need thicker wall thickness to prevent bars bending/snapping or have a tube inside the bottom of the bar to reinforce, just like old school razor fork reinforcement :) I believe Ryan Williams showed this in a video of his recently.
We'll talk about bearing and spacer quality. We probably will not talk too much about headset bearings. Most riders and shops do not own the tools to properly install headsets (torque wrenches).
Can you show us the whole range of tilt wheels? I would like to know what they all look like and you can’t find the whole range at most shops since they’re always sold out ( not a bad thing) . : )
We are currently in the process of coming out with new wheels, but we most definitely could show off each wheel if we make a video that calls for it! Great suggestion Jacob!
Thats actually really cool, next time im gonna think twice before i pain parts 😂 but what would happen if you used both the painted bars and painted fork together???
After watching this I realised that my supremacy bars don't work with my raw arc oversized and raw sculpted forks. The slit at top of clamp is much more shut than bottom. How can I fix this as I can't really remove the anodisation to even it out as have already raw clamp and fork. Do I need to paint bottom of bars to even out.
the kids should know andrew and proto for their new inventions and their new products because if they only know proto because they have created scs that means that proto isn't inovating as much as they should . but i partly agree to what you said cuz this is the history of our sports and we don't want the history to be forgotten .
man the vault does this to so many custom builds. gees they need a tutorial on scs. not good they use the penny trick on most of the scs builds they do an they sell them too.
I tried putting the classic scs clamp and the tomahawk fork and didn’t fit. Why is that why didn’t they fit their from the same company? They are new is that the problem?
but that means your own products dont work together because the brand new tilt tomahawk fork and the tilt classic scs i bought off the vault didnt "slide" right on lmfao had to penny trick it. so your own product has the same issue you just discussed.
Literally un-setup my scooter while watching this because i had used the penny trick to get my new powder coated phoenix bars on with a tilt scs and fork! sanding the bars down right now.
could you guys explain how to properly compress your compression kit so that your headset bearings spin as fast as they possibly can go but with the compression tight as it can be?? this is an issue so many people i know have trouble with me included
We'd love to! However, this really requires a tool called a torque wrench that puts a certain amount of pressure on the bolt when tightening. Most riders and most scooter shops do not have this tool, so we probably won't touch this topic much.
Che filet the apex gamma is a really tight fitting clamp that’s why I’ve been running my issac miller forks and clamp for 2 years straight they are the strongest I’ve snapped three decks whilst riding them and they are still going strong
Louis Kneeend interesting to know. Although I've never realy noticed any problems with my scooter, I needed to use the penny trick a lot. Well now i know why. Thx for the info :)
When choosing a Fork and SCS you want to try and make sure that you purchase the same brand. Those parts are more often than not made to fit together perfectly so that you do not run into this problem!
Yeah I understand. But I am not going to buy a new clamp everytime I need a new fork. but i'll take it in consideration next time a buy a fork or a clamp. Thx for the info :)
Considering tilt is very reputable for headset and wheel bearings, you should talk about headset and bearing production, maybe explain the method to your madness with 6 ball bearings instead of 7, or maybe talk about some upcoming product releases ( 5050 Camo line, new wheels, apparel, etc.)
Hey Noah - thanks for the feedback! We will make a video about bearing quality in the near future. We'll also cut back on the technical segment and include a segment about upcoming products, trips, etc..
Hyped to finally see this series air, would love too see your guys view point on ti bars since i saw that recent photo of yours. I've been riding mine for a while and it has improved my riding abilities and balance a lot.

We'll keep the videos coming once per month. Thanks for the feedback!
Also you should do a tilt warehouse walkthrough and show us the whole thing ( especially that skatepark I saw in the background 😍)
That answers so many of my questions I have had about my clamp. It’s odd that so many people, including myself, have no idea that we are risking loosening our compression every time we ride. Never really thought of paint being able to cause you this trouble, well done guys, more vids like this
I never realized that having painted parts could be bad inside a scs compression. Thank you for this knowledge🛴
That really clarifies why I had issues with my compression staying solid.
Great video, I’ve always had problems with my scs loosening and never really thought it was such a simple fix, big shout out to Tilt for amazing quality on their products!
Thanks Nick!

6:55 “never want to have your scooter set up like this” thats the way my scooter is setup, this video was extremely helpful
Good shit Collin! Proper teacher. I’d like to see some more informative ways like this or how things go down behind the scenes of TILT:)
Much love
Thanks for the feedback! We will make the technical portion of the video shorter and add a general TILT update to each video.
It was a very useful video for me to watch because you explained in very good detail how the penny trick actually works. Also my bars have been shredded for a long while now so I would love those scout bars man 😉 if you read this then thanks for your time Collin

I love how much effort you guys put into making these parts, and I would love to see a tilt deck come out soon.
We are working on the deck :) Hopefully the deck releases this fall.

Do a video talking about how you guys test the strength of your products
Thank you for all the help I was always wondering why I couldn't get the gap for my clam to be straight now I know why
It was kinda mind blowing thinking that just a tiny layer of paint can be the determining factor in a fork snapping or people blaming a clamp for their bars slipping out. I'm definitely gonna think twice about painting my parts
I learned that the spray on the bars can actually messup youre csc system! Thank you tilt
Scs but yeah
What the fuck is CSC 😂🤦♂️

Very informative, now i need to get my setup dialed

Jheez that was good man, really like the trick with the sand paper as my fork is too big, thanks !
This video makes me want more tilt parts. I don't know any other company that takes as much time and effort into producing scooter parts as tilt
Thanks for the support!

Thanks for the feedback and support
Loved the vid. You should talk about wheels.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Back tilt products. Been on the same front end for years now with Isaac miller fork/scs and set of sentry bars.
Thanks Chase!
Thanks for the feedback! We are going to make a video showing some of the wheel tech for sure.
I learnt how much the thickness of the paint really matters and how affects the clamping power of the scs
Thats a good idea Michael, thank you for taking the time to watch it!
Damn, this taught me so much about my scs setup. My old affinity bars did this and I always wondered why it felt so weird. Now I can advise against my friends painting their scooter parts without proper precaution.
Anton, we are glad that you found the video to be so informative! Thank you!
This was super helpful, thanks I know what to buy now!😁
I never realized how much the coat of paint on a scooter part could obstruct the ability to put them together. Also when will there be new apparel coming out, and any dates of the tilt deck release?
New apparel comes out in June. The deck should release this fall. We're working on the deck prototypes now.
This video is very interesting and I will show my friends this video
this video is awsome i love learnin this stuff!
I've always used HIC but I'm going to switch to SCS just for the added height. This video helped because I would have for sure used the penny trick since I use it on my HIC which doesn't really matter
Definitely make a video on on why the quality of bearings makes a difference or just the overall testing of parts
For sure! Already in the plans :)
Brilliant video so so useful
Can you guys go over your warranty program, and show examples of what are up for warranty (Dehubbed wheels, scs, snapped bars
didnt know paint was a factor, thanks for the info
Well I’ve learned that the proto scs ive been running these past few months should be put back in a drawer and that I should put back my trusty tilt scs that i had no problems with. that has lasted me almost three years and still tightly fits on my bars and fork, unlike my proto scs which is causing me so many problems.
Glad to hear that our SCS has lasted you for so long! Thank you for your support:)
did not know that about the penny trick, probably explains why ive had issues with my scs becoming loose in the past.
Awesome idea Gabis! Thank you so much!
Very great video! I'd like to know hiw you guys make the weels.
I’ve always used the penny trick and I have never had one problem with my bars headset or fork
I wanna see how you make wheels and griptape. Love the new segment:)
Interesting to learn how much paint thickness affects the clamping power and effectiveness of an scs
You should do a video on the different bar sizes like over size and standard
It would be amazing if you did a video on the importance of bar ends for safety as I see riders at my local cutting themselves on handlebars or the importance on putting bearing spacers in between bearings as bearings can cave in and shatter causing injury
Both of those are great Ideas Louis, thank you for your input!

do a video on how to install and take out bearings please
Thanks for the reply! You are right about SCS being tricky to setup, but we do not trust HIC. We will make a video about why we do not ride HIC :)
Thanks so much for this you guys rock
You guys should talk about bearing mateinence
We'll talk about bearing and spacer quality. We probably will not talk too much about headset bearings. Most riders and shops do not own the tools to properly install headsets (torque wrenches).
Very helpful
Can you show us the whole range of tilt wheels? I would like to know what they all look like and you can’t find the whole range at most shops since they’re always sold out ( not a bad thing) . : )
We are currently in the process of coming out with new wheels, but we most definitely could show off each wheel if we make a video that calls for it! Great suggestion Jacob!
TiltScooters yeah that would be great.
Thats actually really cool, next time im gonna think twice before i pain parts 😂 but what would happen if you used both the painted bars and painted fork together???
thanks to you i now know what my problem is ... thnaks ♥
So do you use smaller OD bar material to compensate for the paint thickness?
Young homies need to know the importance of bearing spacers and headset maintenance
i think you guys should do a video on the production of wheels and what different types of urethane do e.g "soft" & "hard"
Good idea! When we release multiple hardnesses of urethane we will make a video covering this topic.
I was wondering why my bars were getting loose it because my fork paint is too much
You should make a video on putting in bearing
How can i fix the clamp.
I used the penny trick but that happened. Could i use a bench vise? Plz i dont wanna buy a new one cuz im a idiot.
SCS video and no shoutout to broussard for inventing it? thats kinda rough, kids need to learn scooter history too /:
the kids should know andrew and proto for their new inventions and their new products because if they only know proto because they have created scs that means that proto isn't inovating as much as they should . but i partly agree to what you said cuz this is the history of our sports and we don't want the history to be forgotten .
What’s the process you go through for making your wheels?
I love tilt
man the vault does this to so many custom builds. gees they need a tutorial on scs. not good they use the penny trick on most of the scs builds they do an they sell them too.
Hey tilt could you plz make a video on what the right tightness is for scs compression so it doesn’t come loose?
talk about the importance of greasing bolts and the types of grease to use.
You got it! Keep a look out for a future video on this.
well, I guess I better go sort out my scs now
I tried putting the classic scs clamp and the tomahawk fork and didn’t fit. Why is that why didn’t they fit their from the same company? They are new is that the problem?
Search up the penny trick but do it where the fork goes
but that means your own products dont work together because the brand new tilt tomahawk fork and the tilt classic scs i bought off the vault didnt "slide" right on lmfao had to penny trick it. so your own product has the same issue you just discussed.
Literally un-setup my scooter while watching this because i had used the penny trick to get my new powder coated phoenix bars on with a tilt scs and fork! sanding the bars down right now.
I think I never noticed until now because my compression bolt was already tightened by the time I put the bars on.
Glad that this video could help you with your setup, that's awesome man!
love tilt products
could you guys explain how to properly compress your compression kit so that your headset bearings spin as fast as they possibly can go but with the compression tight as it can be?? this is an issue so many people i know have trouble with me included
We'd love to! However, this really requires a tool called a torque wrench that puts a certain amount of pressure on the bolt when tightening. Most riders and most scooter shops do not have this tool, so we probably won't touch this topic much.
oh thanks anyway though keep making the mad clips
Big ups, great video.
i have a chrome flamongo/native fork and a silver apex scs, both unpainted. but the scs doesn't fit without stretching, why?
Che filet the apex gamma is a really tight fitting clamp that’s why I’ve been running my issac miller forks and clamp for 2 years straight they are the strongest I’ve snapped three decks whilst riding them and they are still going strong
Che filet and due to the info in the video I’d assume the apex clamp has a different circumference to the forks
Make a video on how a scs is made and invented and also i didn’t know that the paint is a big issue on the bars for the scs and forks
but what if your bar AND your scs are to small, there is no danger with that is think because my bars haven´t flown off.
