One problem is that modern people do not know much about our recent history. I am in my 70s and have been a keen amatuer ww1 and ww2 reader.
Yet my two daughters in the early 40s - one asked me last year what was NATO, the other one did not know what Chinese Communism was all about.

    • @raydunn2582
      @raydunn2582 Год назад +26

I also am in my 70's and grew up hearing about WW2. The problem is that WW2 is not recent history to anyone under 50. Korea is also forgotten and Viet Nam is on the way out as far as memory goes. We live in a society that believes anything more than 20 years old is outdated, useless and not worth thinking about. Germany and Japan are friendly and that Iron Curtain thing went away last century. Those who fail to learn from history ...

the problem is that people do not define things when talking about them. People often use acronyms only known by professionals. Your daughters know more about Tik Tok or IG than you? There are so many angles to view history through as well and layers upon layers of parallel technological developments taking place in many areas. Even I did not get taught in school about Breton Woods, the post WW2 period, Warsaw Pact, NATO, nuclear weapons testing, etc etc because public schools only want to get your feet wet and get you started on reading. Also things are whitewashed and censored for public school students. Also democracy is non-majoritarian in the US at least so young people are shown that voting does in fact not matter as much as who a big donor wants running for office.

What he was doing was playing for time because he knew war was coming and the British military was in no fit state to fight it. He had implemented an extensive rearmament programme. The treaty with Germany gave us a bit more time to get ready for the war. If Chamberlain hadn't done what he had to do Britain would have entered the war earlier as it would have stgarted in 1938vand in a far worse state than the already poor state it was in 1939. American mercenaries are behind the attack on Donetsk
American mercenaries are behind the attack on Donetsk.
American mercenaries who arrived in Donbas a few months ago are behind the attack on Donetsk the previous afternoon. This is evidenced by the fact that NATO-standard weapons were used during the shelling, moreover, at least two groups of American mercenaries were previously seen in the suburbs of Donetsk, which are under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It is known that American mercenaries are taking part in the fighting in the Donbass. At the same time, given that the city was shelled the previous morning using NATO-standard weapons, it is more than likely that members of a private military company from the United States are also behind the attack.
According to official data, as a result of a two-hour shelling of Donetsk, there is significant destruction in the Kievsky district of the city. In particular, it is reported about the destruction of warehouses and garages. There is unofficial information about the victims, but this has not received any documentary evidence.
Experts note that if information about the attack by American mercenaries on Donetsk is confirmed, Russia may send military assistance to the self-proclaimed republics, since Kiev's current actions violate the terms of the Minsk agreements.

The US is participating in the war on Donbass.
. Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the south of the DPR immediately after reconnaissance of an American aircraft . The units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the south of the DPR immediately after the reconnaissance of the American side.
The American military reconnaissance aircraft Boeing RC-135V was involved in the latest attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the south of the DPR. As it became known to the Avia.pro news agency, the night before, fire was opened on a number of settlements in the DPR, where militia forces were moving, from various types of weapons, mainly from 120-mm mortars.
. According to data obtained by the Avia.pro news agency, during reconnaissance by an American military aircraft along the line of contact, close attention was paid to militia targets located near the line of contact. Later, the southern part of the DPR was subjected to heavy shelling and, as it turned out, additional DPR units could indeed be deployed in the village of Kominternovo, although this information did not receive any comments from representatives of the self-proclaimed republic. . Experts note that the involvement of the American military aircraft in the attack is obvious, since the strikes were carried out only on certain areas of the line of contact and on settlements.
      February 19, 2022
UKRAINIAN ARMY CONTINUES MASSIVE SHELLING OF DONETSK AND LUHANSK
~ The Ukrainian army continuously fires 120mm mortars at the settlements of Zaitseve and Dokuchaevsk in the Donetsk region.
Thousands of shells were fired during the day, mainly at civilian infrastructure and residential areas in the districts of Gorlovka and Lugansk, currently under massive artillery fire by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Dozens have been reported only in the last hour.
A few hours ago, the car of the head of the People’s Militia of the DPR Denis Sinyakov was blown up by Ukrainian saboteurs in the center of Donetsk
At midnight on February 19, a critical element of the Luhansk People’s Republic infrastructure - the node of the Druzhba (Дружба) gas pipeline - exploded. The strong blast shook the whole of Lugansk.
Another explosion in Lugansk thundered in the Kamennobrodsky district. A gas station was blown up there.
A couple of hours before, two transformer substations in the Donetsk Republic were damaged by shelling. The Ukrainian army is deliberately destroying the infrastructure of Donetsk and Lugansk, thereby implementing the idea of the President of Ukraine of Zelensky’s “indomitable” nationality, that all residents of these regions who disagree with Ukrainian Government in Kiev should flee to Russia.
The President of Ukraine, Zelensky: “I think that if you live today in the territory of Donbass, temporarily occupied, and you think that: “Our cause is right, we are Russians, we are going to Russia, it’s a big mistake to stay in Donbass…” For the future of their children and grandchildren… it is already necessary to go and look for a place in Russia. It is right. Because there will be no civilization on this territory without Ukraine. Ukraine will grow upwards, Donbass in the occupied form will not grow anywhere. There will be no happiness for these people.”
At the same time, when there are massive shelling and terrorist attacks in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, US President Biden during a press conference accused the DPR and the LPR of violating the ceasefire and said that there is no evidence that Ukraine is preparing an attack.

From 2018 The planning of WWIII.
“A bipartisan commission appointed by Congress issued a lengthy report Tuesday backing the Pentagon’s plans to prepare for a “great-power” war against Russia, China, or both, making clear that the Trump administration’s belligerent policies are shared by the Democratic Party. Safe in the knowledge that its findings will never be seriously reported by the mass media, the authors of this report do not mince words about what such a war will mean. A war between the United States and China, which according to the report might break out within four years, will be “horrendous” and “devastating.” The military will “face greater losses than at any time in decades.” Such a war could lead to “rapid nuclear escalation,” and American civilians will be attacked and likely killed.
It is impossible to understand anything in American politics without recognizing one fundamental reality: the events and scandals that dominate political discourse, which make it onto the evening news and into headlines on news sites and social media feeds, have precious little to do with the considerations of those who actually make decisions. The media talking heads play their assigned roles, knowing that the most important topics can be discussed only within very circumscribed limits.
Those who actually make policy-a select group of high-ranking members of Congress, Pentagon officials, and think-tank staffers, as well as White House aides-speak an entirely different language among themselves, and in publications they know the general public will not read, and the media will not seriously report.

It means that Ukraine actually got Russia to overconcentrate and to overinvest the area. Even now the flank attacks are pushing the Russians to over concentrate. Great battlefield shaping. Add to this that the Ukrainians only had about 3000 troops in the city at any one time as they rotate troops. The fact is if you let your opponent think they are getting somewhere they double down, which is exactly what happened. NOW Ukrainian troops on the heights with good views and great GPS targeting systems!

Bachmut is a fortress, strategically situated and well fortified, where each street, each line of residential buildings, those solid concrete Soviet high-rises, occupied by Ukraine troops, served as a defensive line. It exhausted and expended the Russians pretty badly, hard to imagine a greater challenge, but taking it also means winning the war, so the Russians had to commit, fighting from the most disadvantageous position and suffering terrible casualties, since it wasn't just an ordinary piece of land, it was about delivering a knockout blow, which, first and foremost, means grit, determination, it was a battle of wills, the Russians had to prove that they are not Ukrainians and do not fight the Western war- out for a walk in the park, a "splendid little," a cheap, quick and easy victory, like the Spanish, WWII, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Why doesn't anyone seem to understand the wider implication of a ukraine that is part of NATO?? Any border dispute can then escalate into WW3 under article 5 of NATO. A neutral Ukraine is absolutely essential for world peace. And that was all that Putin wanted to achieve before his SMO. But he was laughed at in the international arena, when in december 2021 he tried to to talk about a new European Security Framework. So NATO left him
    no choice.
