This game is based on Hololive, a Vtuber agency currently considered to be the biggest of the market. A Vtuber is basically a streamer that uses a 2D/3D model (usually anime style) instead of showing themselves with a camera. Every single character in this game is an actual streamer that you can watch, and with Hololive specifically, they are also Idols, so they perform and produce a ton of music as well, for example, the character "Mori Calliope" is a rapper, currently signed with UMG too! Which is why you'll see tons of references to music and idol-adjacent stuff in the items and weapons.
COVER, the company behind Hololive is surprisingly very chill with fanworks, hence why fangames like HoloCure exist, and a lot of the Hololive members have also played this game on stream (Even got Early Access from the Dev).

@@hardwaredespair Hololive colIabs so well. Calliope Mori and Gawr Gura are fantastic together. The JP/English collabs are really cute too. Gawr Gura wrote a naughty poem to Marine in English. Marine(JP) and Aqua(JP) were trying to figure it out. It was hilarious. Marine was so pleased when her chat told her it was full of dirty jokes.
Marine and Aqua would die laughing every time Gura talked in her beginner Japanese. Poor Ina was just there as a translator. Marine: Ina how do you say oppai? Ina: boobs.
the girls simply loves the fans. i mean, i think everyone of them recorded lines for the figthing game idol showdown after launch. botan started first because she didnt like how she sounded and most girls were like "what the hell? you took this from clips? time to give you a good recording"
The thing with spacebar is that it is the "Strafe" button, so if you hold down space it locks your aim in one direction, hence why it cancel the mouse aiming but doesn't also put it back, since it's a different type of aiming. Also there is no "Auto" aiming, if not aiming or strafing it just shoots to where you are moving.

Amusing to see someone who has no knowledge of Hololive play this game, I guess it's really making the rounds. All the characters in this game are vtubers, the enemies are the representations of their respective fandoms; for instance, the lizard-looking enemies in that stage are actually shrimp, the mascot for Gawr Gura's fans. Something important to note about this game is that you can get very powerful combo weapons by maxing out two compatible types, iirc the glowsticks and lava can be combo'd, for instance.
I wish to correct that the glowstick sadly can't be combined with lava bucket(yet?). There is 2 weapon that can be combined with the glowstick though, so goos luck finding them, also the combin or collab is basically a reference to the vtuber event or collab of the representative item related to the talent as well

The BL Book is a reference/meme from the Hololive fandom like most of the items and enemies
everything is a reference to something related to hololive, and most things have an attached story or two. it's good fun to explain specific ones when someone is interested
You can pet the dog by pressing p on bubba
Also you can get better weapons by combining 2 max level weapons, however not all weapons can combine
If your gonna keep playing i recomend buying the special attack upgrade, your probably gonna need it

@@hardwaredespair the pizza is actually specifically on Okayu, the cat girl Asmongold got as his first additional character.
Hitting space was putting you into "strafe mode", something that was implemented long before mouse targeting was added to the game. As long as you hold space or enter, you would continue aiming/shooting in the direction you were aiming at when you first pressed the button.

funnily enough, this game isn't actually brand new!! It was recently released to steam, but originally was just downloaded and played without a launcher. I'm happy you seem to be liking it! The creator plans to add every different member of the company, so there's plenty of updates yet to come.
My mistake. Never heard of it before I saw Asmongold play it. One commentor mentioned the possibility of a boys roster, but I don't know much about the lore or if that is even a thing. Im going to keep playing though! Can't wait to see all the characters :)
Ahh yeah, the boys will be coming!!! But the creator said that all the girls come first, so considering there's over 50 of them.... might take a while haha (A bit sad considering I'm a bigger fan of the boys than most of the girls lmao) I look forward to seeing your gameplay~

Been playing the game for a few months and had 100% achievement progress on it before the update came along. I love all the new things they added and am excited to see what alse they'll add as time goes on.

But at 11:35 when you ask what is that and think it's the skeletons (Deadbeats) doing some AoE.
It isn't; it's actually the effect of your max (awakened) level pistol shot causing that.
Oh boy, you've just stepped into the vtuber and Hololive rabbit hole! Great to see how Holocure has attracted so many people foreign to this side of the internet.
There are so many things I want to share but some won't make sense until you get deeper in!! Plus it's more fun to discover it yourself.
I haven't finished the video yet but some basic info u should know about the game is that:
1. Kay yu (the "creator", a very reknowned artist in the anime industry, and obviously a fan of Hololive) and the Holocure team have a firm stance on not monetizing the game, despite Hololive themselves offering compensation after the game's announcement. Holocure is a passion project, and hopefully the popularity and love of the community continue to fuel its future because there are sooooo many things still not in the game.
2a. The items with the stars are skills unique to the character and reference to iconic moments/traits from their livestreams. For example, Bubba is Ame's dog and has had its moments barking in the background in which the chat would proceed to spam the "Bubba" emote similar to how it's represented in the pixel art.
2b. Other general skills are also references and some are mirroring to Vampire Survivors' skills. Same for passives. Skills are collab-able and work better with some characters than others.
3. You will definitely realize later on that the "monsters" you are defeating are the references to the character's fandoms. For example, the alligators that begin to appear after 11:50 in the video are "investiGATORS" because Amelia's persona is a detective.
4. Bosses are references too ("wait...is all references?" "Always has been"). For example, the Boss that appears at the end of the 1st stage is "smol ame," a derpy design out of many created by walfieee that Ame sometimes uses instead of her default one. Her move is the "ground pound" ;).
5. The super items from the boxes like the one you got in 23:38 are quite rare and are very OP!
As you see, it would be quite impossible for me to list everything even in this ONE play through. And honestly, I hope you learn them all bit by bit as you play more! Winners win.
Welcome to the Rabbit hole that is Hololive. Hololive is a Japaneae based company with streamers that stream in up to 3 different languages comprising of Japanese, Indonesian and English. They are content creaters that use 3d and 2d avatars to present themselves for various reasons. The talents do anything from gaming to karaoke to just chatting and everything in-between. Everything in this game is a reference to an event or moment from the many talents. If you want to check them out but don't have time to watch a full VoD, there is a very robust community of Clippers.

There are so many references. Psycho in Japanese is best. Psycho Axe = best axe. Saiko. BL = boys love. That is from Marine. She's talked about that on stream. There is a part where the Chumbuds(shrimp) and Deadbeats(skeletons) come from each direction that is a reference to the Music Video by Gawr Gura and Calliope Mori. 'Q'. Chumbuds is Gura's fan name. Deadbeats are fans of Calliope Mori. They fight in the MV. The Japanese gentleman is the CEO of Hololive. Yagoo. Yagoo is best girl. The woman in the Gacha screen is Achan. She's a manager at Hololive but she's appeared a few times in streams. They just had English Generation 3 and Achan hosted a watch party. I don't get 3/4 of the references.
That is *not* what the "psycho" is Psycho Axe is a reference to, especially considering the two words are pronounced very differently. It is a reference to Suisei in Project Winter where she performed amazingly well as the traitor, killing multiple players with her axe. It's also where she got the nickname Suisopath.
BL is a dual refence(which is why it collabs with the axe) to both Marine and Suisei, who once used one of her sister's bl books to ward off what she thought was a ghost.

@minstrelblood9110 Sieko(psycho)doesn't sound like Saikyo(Saiko). That is the way they are pronounced. It'd be different if we were talking about borrowed words, but these are two words from different languages that are pronounced very differently. Phonics can be difficult for non-native speakers, so I get why you asked, but like, you don't pronounce "borrow" and "barrow" the same, even if non-native speakers might not notice the difference.
And your explanation of the specific item, Psycho Axe, was objectively false. It is purely a reference to Suisie and her performance in Project Winter. The saiko=psycho thing was your own misinterpretation.

The game isn't brand new. It was just released on steam recently. It has been out for over a year from the dev website where many thousands have been playing it..

Stage one can be treated as a tutorial. Wasn't supposed to be hard, at least I think so.
It's mainly difficult to people completely new to the genre, like I was when it released last year. After a while it become beyond easy and only good for doing some of the harder achievement challenges. I'm glad you don't HAVE to do it to get the full fandom rank anymore.
the game has difficulty modifiers in the shop, so you can make it as difficult as you like.
