You have been incredibly honest about EG4. You were absolutely accurate. Just picked up our system. The people are kind and as helpful as they can be, but are very disorganized and not trained very well. None of that was a surprise because of the forums and reviews. I think they will catch up to their growth and do very well. Don’t listen to the rude comments. They are just mad because they will have to lower prices to compete. On another level, the Sol Ark has an incredible reputation and if money was no object, I wouldn’t be settling for mediocre service.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for teaching me so much. I bought the Sol-Ark 12k because at the time I bought it I thought it was the Cadillac of the ‘all in ones’. I had it a year before I installed any of it. I don’t have it fully installed but I am having some of the same issues that some other RUclipsrs are having. I have it off grid. I only have a 110v window 18k btu on L2 and some fans and lights to balance the load on L1. Over current faults when the compressor in the AC unit kicks in. It just can’t handle the amp spike as it is right now. Their tech support is great so far. Usually answers an email within an hour.
I was just noticing my own little system with only 1700w of panels has done 1Mw over the course of a full year and was really impressed with that result, he did that in just one month.
I completely agree even though I'm a Schneider man I have to admit these work really good haven't had any issues with the EG4 18k I've been running for over a month. I've sold two of these so far. Will be doing an install with 10 of these and 150 batteries in Idaho sometime this year hopefully.
Nice follow up Will. I bought a SolArk 15k about 5 months ago, and I don't think you are a shill :) I really appreciate your unbiased reviews, and anyone who thinks that you are an EG4 fanboy should go back and watch the EG4 8k inverter reviews you did :) I am actually excited for this product and I am hoping it does well, it is always good for the free market to have competition! I really like the look of the app and the management screen layout.

As always, thank you Will for your even keeled delivery and solid info. On another note, it's strange seeing you so out of control angry. LoL. Those pesky trolls!
I love mine so far, installed it last week, really capable, but I’m still fiddling around with the settings because with grid connected, no matter which settings, it keeps going back to the grid multiple times, super annoying… Basically I want it to only tap into the grid if the battery gets too low only. I have everything setup including the wifi dongle and I'm waiting for their commissioning appointment to hopefully figure that out, right now I'm disconnected the grid. Yet, so far way better than the glitchy growatt 12k I had, and the fact that it takes up to 500V PV per MPPT, is just icing on the cake. Keep up the great content, you are very objective and picky enough for anyone to dare call you biased.
Don’t feel bad Will about the sorry people who don’t know or understand all that you do. I find you to be amazing and so knowledgeable. I wish you were in my area to help me install this solar system in SC. If you know of how I can find that person or organization that would be great. So far I haven’t received call backs from 3 electricians. They just don’t know what you do. This would be a great solution for me. Keep up the good work. Your subscribers appreciate you so much!
Yep, Will is right. All we want is honest reviews of solar products. The second we detect that what is being said about a solar product is motivated by a sponsorship or some kind of payment/kickback we have no confidence in the content of the video. Honesty is money and money doesn't come cheap. BOOM!
I trust your reviews 100 percent on these products and has saved me a tons of money by preventing me wasting on buying problem units. More so living in Hawaii, I would have to pay shipping units to or returning problem units back to the company. Bottom line, whatever I purchase must be perfect running as it claims to.
@@huestifer I'm in a subdivision that has no electricity or land line phones. Totally off the grid. Presently have (2) EB 2400, OutBack, and Blueitti Max 200 w/battery. I've learned not to put my faith in just one unit. There are at times 2 weeks straight of rain cloudy skies with little peekaboo sunshine. The Max 200 waste way too much idle energy. There are 2 energy saving refrigerators, a few lights, a water pump, and washing machine. Propane for stove. Comfortable but need a solar unit that allows over panelling to ensure full battery banks charges up even on weeks of overcast.
Had two of their 12K Growatts. Neither worked well. The inverter portion was a beast however. Bought a Victron Quattro and it worked perfect from day one. Rest of the system was Victron already thanks to your video on them. This unit looks to be a pretty good value. Might consider it for the next install. No grid for us so it's all up to the solar power. Since last August we have pulled in 11 MW. Have more to use but no more loads. Victron has had zero problems in that time. Thanks for the honest videos. Shill? Really!
Amazing channel. You can't let internet trolls affect you. You should laugh (at least on the inside) at the trolls. Anger is wasted on these folks. Your reputation is secure regardless of whiners. They very well could be plants by the "other" companies, where they are the shill.

Funny enough, I had a feeling people would call you a schill after your first video about this unit. Which is why I added this unit to my future list, but who knows, I am a few years out from buying a solar system, I am hopeful the quality of products and technology will continually improve, and hopefully the scale of the industry will drive prices lower. Thanks for the video.
THANK YOU Will for the update! As for the whiny nay-sayers who scream "shill!!!" .... well..... I know it is not helpful to simply say: "Ignore them" but just know that they are a tiny, vocal lot and can safely be disregarded. The fact that you STILL care (even though you are well established and well to do) is what makes you YOU! Do not ever change. CHEERS!
I just purchased this unit over the pair of the 6500s for my off-grid property. In order to do so and stay within my budget I settled for half of the battery capacity(For now). I can always add those later as funds permit. A big part of my decision is the simplified wiring and load balancing because it is all one unit. With the pair of 6500s I would have to ensure I spread the 120v loads evenly across the units while leaving enough headroom for things like a well pump and air conditioners. The extra surge capacity of this unit gives me more confidence. I'm really looking forward to seeing what this thing can do. Thank you for all the information and advice Will! :)
Have a smaller inverter from luxpower. I love it. Agree the manual dongle reset is inconvenient. And fan noise is irritating but still much better than my old inverter.
1 Megawatt/hr? NICE! I'm picking up an EG4 6000 for a client job. There will be a video of the build. I have you to thank for getting me hooked on this stuff. Thanks Will! 👍👍👍👍
Will at 3:40 you talked about how your internet went down and you had to reconnect all of your devices. Reason is that most likely you Internet Service Provider is not using a static IP address to your home. This is very typical. You may have an IP address for x period of time, then your ISP does and update and your IP changes.
@WillProwse I've been looking into this inverter and one concern I have is with AC coupling. Can it be done on the LOAD terminal? There are several people in online forums with this same question, the main use case being AC coupled solar on a shed or garage. The current remarks from EG4 suggest you need a second feeder line to get the AC coupled solar back to the GEN port on the EG4 along with the main line from the LOAD out to the shed, but it would be so much better to tie the solar into the panel at the shed's panel and only have one line from the LOAD port. An older version of the 18kPV manual says when the grid is up, the GEN and GRID terminals are connected internally, and when the grid is down, the GEN and LOAD terminals are connected internally. This makes me think it is 'ok' to ac couple on the LOAD lug, but EG4 always says not to. The only downside I can see is less-detailed power tracking in the gui. Can you do a teardown and see if there's anything other than software that might prevent you from backfeeding the LOAD lug? That would be amazing
I guess i will see how good it is, i used your link yesterday to order one and it will be an on-grid, whole house, 2 ev, and cental heat pump deployment.
Wil, they say you’re a Shill to get to you, to rile you up. Who cares what anyone calls you! You have been doing a great job ever since you were in a motor home. ANY intelligent viewer can see for themselves, who you are. Please keep making honest evaluations of what you observe! Thank you!
You do good work. Those complaining have their own selfish reasons to do so. I would like you to test the Schenider inverter/charger as it seems to have a lot of capability. Thanks for the video
There will always be new things better than the prior things. I see people get bent out of shape just because a Tesla a month newer than theirs does something new. I've got 15Ks in my personal installation. This unit didn't exist when I upgraded. I might very well have gotten the 18K instead. No sour grapes. I enjoy the fact that this business gets better and better every year.
I just bought 36 bluesun 460-watt panels and a Eg4 18k inverter with 6 ll-eg4 48-volt batteries from Sig solar. I want to be totally off-grid with a 3,300 sq ft. home and a shop. I'm going with 4 rows of 9 panels in series for 457.2 volts dc in each of the 4 lines. which is a total of 16,560 watts @ 9.05 amps into the inverter. Fingers crossed. If this isn't enough I'll add another 16 panels with 6 more eg4 LL-eg4 batteries and another eg4 18k inverter
To those that think he has a bias, first of all, we all do, but he has not shown any such bias towards any products with regards to faults. I felt I just needed to put that out there.
Thanks Will! Love the videos and you keep me excited about solar. Still on the fence about diving into solar myself. My location only gets three to three-and-a-half solar hours and I only pay $0.11 per kilowatt-hour so the payback time on even a grid-connected DIY system is going to be quite a few years.
You mentioned in a previous video that there was no reason for soft-start on inductive loads and just make sure you size the system or The surge current of the devices in question. My question is what's wrong with adding soft-start to the inductive loads to eliminate getting your inverters hit regardless of their ability to handle it.
Thumbs up 👍 with out the testing and discussion on the system itself. We would not be seeing the fast improvements. Quality is moving forward and failing is not as bad. We are getting better equipment. Thumbs up 👍 for staying in the game 😊
We all know you are reluctant to give any product a clean bill of health, when you find any issues you say what they are, thing is manufacturers are learning to make better products, and sometimes when something is good and works well it's hard to find a fault.
I love your content. The life is pouring out of your presentations. May God bless you man! On solar... I am building a house in south florida and planning to eventually install two of these as per EG4 manual. Question: Should I consider string optimizers?
You are great Will Prowess! A wealth of experience, knowledge and I have always found you pretty neutral in your reviews. Very thoughtful and thorough. If liking a product cause it is good is being a schill than I guess I am a schill. You da'man Homer. I love your videos and my little off grid rv has thrived and been a great experience thus far and much of that I can say is thanks to your insight in charger, controllers, panels, wires, batteries, connectors and many other bits. Thanks Will !
What A SCHILL! 😂 I find that accusation very amusing and it really highlights how easy people get their feeling hurt 😢. I've watched many videos from you and others and I've found your reviews to be fair and somethings even a little nit picky. I'm really leaning towered buying this system, it's amazing. Thank you 👍🏻
Have they changed the firmware to allow for daily programing vs the weekly only. I like what I see with this unit. However, Sol-Ark has the ability to program daily. The reason this is important to us here in Ontario, is the fact that we have time of use and our weekend is calculated as off-peak after 7PM Friday until 7AM Monday. However, the last time I looked, the EG4 18K does not allow that to be programed. We want to use the batteries to run the house during the day and charge during off-peak - until we can afford to buy Bi-Facial panels and a racking system. The EG4 18K doe snot provide enough flexibility to meet our needs here. So I keep waiting for them to hear me.
I like OPTI Solar. Used them for years and they worked fine. The only problem I had was when a fan went out. I have 3 OPTI Solar inverters and they're great.
I have what I call a starter solar system. In late 2017 we installed 16 Jinko 325 watt panels and a Fronius string inverter. After two inverter failures and warranty replacements finally working properly, we added more panels for a total of 24, (7.8 KWh). Now the plan is to upgrade to a system capable of powering the ranch even if the grid fails. I’m curious about the advanced functions in hybrid inverters and this one in particular. I understand this one can inhibit back feeding the grid in case of a grid failure and it does not have to be separated with a manual or auto switch. While a great idea, I suspect my utility will require a separate manual lockout anyway. I eagerly await follow up videos on similar hardware.
"If you can find problems with the device. Share it so we can make them better." Not really a quote but nice ending for the video instead of just calling out the haters.
Don't worry about all that "you're a shill BS, Will. I watch and enjoy you specifically because you're so objective (and detailed). Idiots are everywhere, and generally ruin everything, but they won't ruin this channel
Hi and thank you for your videos. An important feature you might want to discuss in your next video is how to connect the EG4 18k to tie grid inverter while the utility grid is down. How to trick tie grid inverter that the EG4 18K is the utility power so you can utilize that power with EG4 18k without utility. This is important to discuss. Thanks
LNG or LPG is expensive, Here in hurricane alley, Puerto Rico, we do not need heating, but being able to cook using an electric range is a plus, especially after a hurricane hits. How does this system hold to electric range use?

Always bigger and bigger, Will !! Watchin' your oldest videos and we can witness all the evolution in your overall journey, I love it man! Keep up the good work 👏
You have been incredibly honest about EG4.
And try to ignore the haters.
I can't believe you got to 1 Megawatt hour. That is really impressive. :)
I was just noticing my own little system with only 1700w of panels has done 1Mw over the course of a full year and was really impressed with that result, he did that in just one month.
I do a lot of Sol-arks and I like the EG4 as well. The Sol-arks have horrendous software and I dont like it. The EG4 software hands down much better
I completely agree even though I'm a Schneider man I have to admit these work really good haven't had any issues with the EG4 18k I've been running for over a month. I've sold two of these so far. Will be doing an install with 10 of these and 150 batteries in Idaho sometime this year hopefully.
@@SpencerLAPower I'm in Idaho Falls, ID. I may need your services. Not to many electricians want to quote the installation on one of these.
@@BoujeeBoondockerSame challenge up here NW of you in Tetonia. 😂
@@BoujeeBoondockerJust curious- how did you end up?
@@robhoffman510 got quotes but they are very expensive. I’m currently doing all the mounting and sourcing all my own components.
Love these types of videos, just update's and real life use
You're NOT a shill, Will. I don't know how you'd find anyone more fair than you. I really appreciate your videos!
Don't let it get to you. You put out great content and that's what it is all about. Bravo brother 👏.
Some people have adopted the notion that having a harsh opinion makes them an expert. It does not. It just makes them someone with a harsh opinion. Ignoring them is the healthy approach. OTOH, your valuable expertise is well worth listening to.
I love your passion for this. Ignore the nay sayers. As someone who is learning about this stuff, I think your videos are a gold mine.
Thanks for showing all these devices in your videos. You've helped me pick what I think I want to get for battery backup for my home. This item is one of them.
Brilliant, take no notice of the people out there who want to argue for the sake of it, I’m just jealous of all the toys that get sent to you for testing, keep up the good work and thank you 👍🏻
I think you are super honest and un biased. Easily one of the best You Tubers period.
Don't let the trolls get to you. Telling them it pisses you off might encourage. You have a great channel. Haters gonna hate.
As always, thank you Will for your even keeled delivery and solid info.
On another note, it's strange seeing you so out of control angry. LoL. Those pesky trolls!
Thanks!
Picking up two tomorrow! You have been a great help in my solar adventure!
I love mine so far, installed it last week, really capable, but I’m still fiddling around with the settings because with grid connected, no matter which settings, it keeps going back to the grid multiple times, super annoying…
Basically I want it to only tap into the grid if the battery gets too low only.
Oh right there's an setting for that. I changed that on the first day I got mine. They will be able to fix that
I forgot the name of the setting but I set it to zero when I was in off-grid use only. now I'm using the grid so I set it to 12,000 Watts
@@WillProwse Thank you
Don’t feel bad Will about the sorry people who don’t know or understand all that you do.
BOOM!
You're doing a great job with your videos and variety of content around solar, batteries, inverters, etc... Keep up the great work
I trust your reviews 100 percent on these products and has saved me a tons of money by preventing me wasting on buying problem units. More so living in Hawaii, I would have to pay shipping units to or returning problem units back to the company. Bottom line, whatever I purchase must be perfect running as it claims to.
I'm in Hawaii too how have you connected your inverters to HECO. They are so restrictive?
Shill? Really!
Dude. Are provide an awesome service. Don’t waste your time with negative comments from people. Trying to steal your energy. Love what you do!!
Amazing channel.
You can't let internet trolls affect you. You should laugh (at least on the inside) at the trolls.
Anger is wasted on these folks. Your reputation is secure regardless of whiners.
They very well could be plants by the "other" companies, where they are the shill.
Great video. That EG4 18K is awesome.
Don't over focus on the negative ones buddy (easy for me to say, I do the same), you have WAY more positive comments. I'll add to it, your content and character are both top notch, I wish the world was filled with more people like you. keep your head up big Willie :)
Getting Mine Tomorrow. Can't wait to set it up
THANK YOU Will for the update!
Thank you!
Will. You’re awesome. Super detailed and unbiased thorough reviews. Really appreciate your efforts
Your videos on any product are very helpful. Don't worry about the troll dummies, they are and always will be ignorant. Keep up the great information.
Just watching video now, I hope your answer is "yes", since I already bought one.
Don’t listen to the trolls, you give us solid information. Thank you!😊
You do good work.
I need to get mine installed!! It’s sitting patiently in the box in my off-grid barndo waiting on me!
Nice update, thx. Looking forward to a review/shootout with the soon to arrive Midnite Solar All-In-One........
Great video, Will! Love seeing the update
To those that think he has a bias, first of all, we all do, but he has not shown any such bias towards any products with regards to faults. I felt I just needed to put that out there.
Smiling!
Hatters will hate, some people just like to get the anger response, they get some sort of perverted pleasure out of it.
You handled it well.
Thanks for the review, you’re the best, I think I’ll get one for my whole house
You mentioned in a previous video that there was no reason for soft-start on inductive loads and just make sure you size the system or The surge current of the devices in question. My question is what's wrong with adding soft-start to the inductive loads to eliminate getting your inverters hit regardless of their ability to handle it.
Thumbs up 👍 with out the testing and discussion on the system itself. We would not be seeing the fast improvements. Quality is moving forward and failing is not as bad. We are getting better equipment. Thumbs up 👍 for staying in the game 😊
Keep doing what you do, exactly how you do it.
You have to love this guy
Thats wonderful…..I’m so glad your happy with it… peace bro..
Can't wait to see your new shop!
Thanks
Great job, leep it up😊... great information, low budget solar systems...👏
Hey will don't listen to the trolls! Keep up the good work!
Keep up the good work Will.
LNG or LPG is expensive, Here in hurricane alley, Puerto Rico, we do not need heating, but being able to cook using an electric range is a plus, especially after a hurricane hits. How does this system hold to electric range use?
Your doing a good job dont listen to them
Long time sub here, and love what you do across the board! Maybe what everyone is seeing is your videos on SS website and it seems like they even use your videos in ads I've seen recently on different sites, which makes people think, but obviously don't know, you may have a strong money flow with them and pushing their products. I've seen you in ads from SS on weird websites and apps lately. It seems like something they put together and are using Google's ad placement.
I'm planning on putting on AC-Coupling one of these to my new solaredge system and attaching my existing 30KvA of EG4 batteries.....
