What good looking animals! Why send them to an auction when YOU can make a great home for them and benefit from the off-schedule? Seems like a win-win for both ranchers. Congratulations! Taming him a bit is a very good idea.

The new baby mama looks to be quite a bit bigger than the others in your herd. That little bull will make a good baby daddy some day (you should probably give him a name). It is nice to see you “reduce, repurpose, and recycle” the ranch as you continue as a full-time farmer.

Wow! This IS exciting! I could hear your excitement about the bull once you opened the trailer door. I have to say I giggled when I first saw him, not quite the size I expected, but WOW! he’s got a beautiful mom cow and from what you mentioned about his dad looks like you’ve got a lot of good to look forward to and you’ll know where he’s from right from the beginning. I’m looking forward to your videos on this and the renovations. I ALWAYS!!! always, learn something when I watch your videos. They always make me want to go live on a ranch. You make hard work look enjoyable. Blessing to you and your family. Thanks for sharing this exciting time with us. ❤️

After you ween him cut up apples and hand feed them to him. I did that with my old bull that we raised from a 600lb calf. He was always friendly after that. Although it is a little daunting having a 2,000lb bull sneaking up on you because he wanted his head scratched lol

Hey there Tyler, I hope you're all well and good!
I'm going to say something, that you already know, because you've already said it, in not so many words, but that new cow and calf can't do anything but improve your herd, but its gonna take a long time with just 1 cow and 1 calf.
I don't know how much pasture you have, but it sure would be nice if you had a bull lot big enough for them to have some grazing land, feeding them for 9 or 10 months out of the year can get to be quiet expensive, especially next year when you have 2 bulls.
    I hope y'all have a good one! 🐂👍🇺🇸

This is so exciting! Baby bull and Mamma Bull are beautiful! I think raising him will be a great thing for him and you as well. I was going to say that you may have to invest in some bull panels, but I know you do welding and can probably make some if you need to. :) I have 10 to 12 (bucking bulls) next door , my neighbor got the bull panels in Texas, these bulls are used to people (but yeah still be aware and careful with them) sometimes they will fight and bump into the fence. True what you said about mamma cows though! A couple of years ago neighbor brought his cows over for calving, one broke through a fence, the rest followed went on state land. One had just had her calf and decided to come into my backyard, newborn calf in tow. Neighbor calls me: Whatever you do, do not go in your back yard. Ofcourse this cow was known for not playing nice after having a calf. Everything resolved itself in 4 hours, they had a nice walk but did not like the dry desert vegetation much. Flakes of hay leaded them back home when hunger struck. LOL 😂😂

It's really neat to see the future evolution of the FTR since you've become full time. It only makes sense to have a full time bull like you've already chosen to do but to raise one up well that just adds another dimension. Dealing with and keep a set breading schedule will be a test. It has always been something new at the FTR but now that adventure is on the fast track. It will be great to be here to watch and enjoy. Great post FTR!!

Got 3 bull calves on my farm that are A+ Herd Bull prospects. One is an AI calf out of Tehama Patriarch, an AI bull that's in the top 5% of the Angus breed in most relevant categories. I somehow snagged him from a special cow sale at my local barn. I typically sell them off as herd bulls for other people and we raise them to be puppy dogs too. Range cubes by hand and lots of neck rubs that they seem to like. Start young and it'll make it easier when they're older

If the bull calf didn't come with an EPD sheet, is that something that you’ll be developing as he matures and begins breeding? Can the bull calf’s anticipated EPD be calculated for the sheets of his damn and sire? Without necessarily disclosing trade secrets, could you share with us how you anticipate incorporating his genetic information into your overall ranching operations? Or stated a little differently, how do you understand and interpret his EPD into your existing and anticipated heard breed averages? Respectfully, W.S
