Hi Tyler, it doesn't matter about what people say about how you run your farm. You run it how you intend to run it, it is your farm and no one else's. One farmer does not work like the next farmer. You know your cattle and YOU do what is best for them. You are not one to think about your time, you think about how your cattle can benefit and if everything is alright with them. It is YOUR business to run as YOU want to. You make the decisions and you have studied for it. You would always to the best for the little one with pink eye in both eyes, and many people will agree with what you have decided, it is the best for the little one, and I know you will keep an eye on all of them. You collecting hay is all part of your work and, personally, I love watching all that you do. Keep your humour too, you did that loading very quick. 😄

I don’t know if anyone else has suggested keeping the blind calf in a small corral with her mother, but I’d think that would be good for you and them. That way you could keep a closer eye on her and she wouldn’t feel so lost.
Maybe you are right. It think the herd seemed calmer after all the treatments were administered. I’m sure you’ll continue to watch after that blind girl just like you always do. Your care and concern and compassion for your critters far exceeds anything I’ve witnessed in modern day farm life.

My thoughts on pink eye are at least here in northern michigan,
1 pink eye is caused by longer grass, scratches eyes or gets dust and debri in eye, makes it tear up..
2 fly pressure. Cause the infection, the fly lands on shit (literally) and gets nasty bacteria in eye when the fly goes to drink the tears..
I have a cow that seems to get pink eye whenever it surfaces here, generally only during dry years.
I have also heard black faces do t get it,I have heavy hereford influenced cattle, can't sya its true or not.
