this is interesting because magnetic force decays at 1/distance squared while spring force increases at 1/d in conjunction with the spring constant k. So this pedal's tension is a quadratic function of distance rather than a linear one like spring based pedals.

@@dnadeau819 can you explain more the difference between the longboard drumnetics and axis? considering getting a pair myself but scared because i cant test first
@@totenkult if you prefer a long board pedal generally you'll def like the long board version better. It pretty much makes a similar difference as any other pedal long board vs short board. But really for me it's increased surface area on the pedal board that you have to work with especially if you dont have your foot up all the way on the board usually. Like a more controlled leverage to the beater. I feel it's those things.
@@totenkult and if you mean the feel of the magnets, in that sense, i personally feel the magnet is superior to the spring in most ways. The way the tension is a much less linear curve than the spring, like most of the resistance is summed when the magnets are close to each other. So the pedal isnt really working against your foot until it really needs to. I feel instant energy efficiency when playing.
I’m a guitarist. But still really enjoyed this presentation. You got feet like lighting and those pedals seemed really smooth. The magnet resistance seems like a brilliant idea of springs which can stretch and compress. Magnetism is physics so it’s always going to be true. That is for the presentation.
I would be super curious how fast you could push them vs a spring. I can see it maybe bottoming out on the magnet as you get towards super fast. But it looks like with the support of the middle magnet in the foot board you might be able to get away with it.
