    What you reckon folks, is it too much to ask of a £42k single axle caravan to have soft-close drawers and a 1900kg chassis? The Adria Adora Isonzo comes on a 1900kg single-axle chassis. Or am I just being too fussy? Remember too that none of us are interested in what something SHOULD be like, I can only review the product that is there in front of me.

      Totally agree with you. For that price should have soft close drawers and better payload. Definitely not worth anywhere near that price. You’re not too fussy it needs to be practical and for that price give a proper feeling of luxury and comfort which it doesn’t.

      I don't think it is unreasonable to expect more at that price point. I don't mind a low MTPLM if you can upgrade but that payload is silly.
      For a premium van I don't think it is unreasonable to expect people to want a leisure battery, motor mover, 2nd gas bottle and some personal effects on top. You would have to travel pretty light to get in under the MTPLM.
      There are a lot of vans with silly payloads these days, how much does it really add to the cost of a 40k van to put it on a 1900 or 2000kg chassis? At least then you give people the option to up plate or not. I would be buying a more basic van than this and would still want to see 250kgs of payload.

    • @M..R....
      @M..R.... 2 года назад

      We bought the Lusso 2 last month with upgraded weight plate (part exed an immaculate 2017 Bailey Jive 570/6 unless we sell it in the mean time) , the acryllic kitchen doors are soft close and the other drawers have "positive catches". I think the Sportage KX4 2.0 CRDi we had would have been at its limits towing it (as well as 20kg under the 100kg max hitch weight) so ended up buying a Santa Fe 2.2 Premium SE BlueDrive to tow it.
      The sales guy mentioned nothing about the shower feature panel not being available so if that was the case it may have been sorted now especially with the 5 month lead time to delivery. One thing I dont think its got is underfloor heating

    Hi Andrew lovely to see You & Dougal as always, 1st Class review ,these are one of my favourites you do! Although this Caravan has some nice features, lovely upholstery etc, the fittings eg cupboards & drawers let it down & I agree with you that I've seen better quality in lower priced Caravans. Washroom, lovely shower but the radiator could have been better place! I also love a 2 part Caravan Door. Thank You for sharing & honest opinion on this review. Take Care, Lots of Love to You & Dougal 💖💖💜💜🐾🐾 XX XX

    Hi Andrew, my wife and I agree with the comment made about the washroom basin, Mr Rimmer is right, though we would add that this style of basin is neither use nor ornament, this type of basin is fitted nowadays to lots of different caravans, we don't know why, to wash your hands in these they are too small, we have one in our caravan and if it was not for the warranty we would throw it in rubbish bin and fit a larger more usable basin, we say come on manufacturers, fit things that are more usable and sensible, not just trendy looking trash, older caravans had better basins. Andrew keep up the excellent videos, we find them entertaining and very interesting. J&P

    We have had a Coachman 675 laser for 3 years now, bought new in 2019 and my experience is the marque is very over rated, the quality is below what I expected for the 31K price. We have had lots of warranty issues some of which still are waiting to be rectified due to poor parts availability.. Would I recommend Coachman I'm afraid not. They look fantastic when being towed and very impressive when you turn up on site but the reputation of being top quality has long gone I wish we would have kept our 2013 Bailey Barcelona.

    Way too much to pay for a single axle caravan especially when you don’t even get soft close draws. I know soft closing draws aren’t that important but blimey! They should come as standard. Not keen on the horrible wash basin in the bathroom either, bring back the decent size Belfast style one. No! It’s not for me. However, I do like the one button operating corner steadies. I’m afraid we’ll be sticking with our 2016 Laser 620 we bought brand new and still enjoy using today. Thanks for taking the time to review though. It’s always nice to see you and Dougal. 🐾

    Another fab vid.. but and Big but its 42k I get that there needs to be a high end van but at that price point for something that will ultimately depreciate drastically in say 3/5 years is questionable. It looks amazing but again we've seen 1/2 the price vans get the wow factor. Sorry a little to rich for my liking.. give me an airstream anyday even if I couldn't afford them either lol. Happy travels!!

    Maybe worth checking if the miro included a battery, because it’s got E&P system fitted van has to be supplied with the battery and should already be in the calculated figure.

    • @andrewjditton
      @andrewjditton  2 года назад +1

      Good point Dave! I did check the definition of the Lusso's MRO and it says that it includes 4kg for the mains lead, 10kg for one cylinder of LPG, and fluids in the Alde central heating system. The actual spec mentions nothing about a battery - I'd want to see type and rating if it did - so I think we can assume not. I'm more than happy to be proved wrong if I've made an incorrect call given the info available. Cheers.

    • @DaveDiver1
      @DaveDiver1 2 года назад

      @@andrewjditton ok thanks for reply, I was taking my experience of a buccaneer, similar system fitted. You can’t even move the van without a battery, as can’t retract legs and that why I thought it may be included.

    We bought a nearly new Bailey Unicorn valencia 🦄 3 years ago 14k. Worth more than that now . it's kept in a dry barn we use it 6 times a year.
    Can I say £42k is a rediculous price for a white box caravan plus the additional high costs of £30 to £40 pounds a night for a decent pitch..
    .£42k pounds buys us a lot of holidays in 4 🌟 star hotels around the world with flushing toilets I don't have to empty, with guaranteed sunshine and being weighted on, oh did I mention I could run a sporty electric car, help save the planet and not have to run an expensive diesel gas guzzler.
    Caravanning has become over subscribed, costly, toll roads, and the site owners are cashing in without upgrading facilities...Modern electric cars don't tow heavy caravans and no one has a workable sustainable solution...rant over I don't think caravanning has a future, we are currently on the crest of a wave..when the wave hits the shore boom to bust..sorry rant over again I know I'm right and if your honest you will like this post or at least restore my faith and tell me I've got it all wrong

    • @Bunce1949
      @Bunce1949 2 года назад

      Totally agree! Its aimed at the well heeled who have more money than sense. At the end of the day its camping for goodness sake, and as you say you, you can have a lot of holidays in luxury for £42K.

    • @andrewjditton
      @andrewjditton  2 года назад +1

      I'm not going to tell you that you're wrong. But for many people caravanning is about the experience, the freedom, the memories, and the feeling - things that money cannot buy. It's a lifestyle choice for many, but it's no longer necessarily the cheap option, especially if you buy new and stay on full facility sites. Give me a caravan over a Travelodge any day. I really do think caravanning has a great future. Over the decades, caravanning has boomed and busted, and it will continue to evolve and do so, hopefully with less dramatic 'busts' than the like we saw in the 70s and 80s.

    Unless an 8ft wide van is being stored on-site all year round I believe they're not suitable for UK roads. A collision waiting to happen. What's your thoughts?? Keep up the great work 👍.

    • @andrewjditton
      @andrewjditton  2 года назад +1

      Hi Mark, I borrowed an 8ft wide Adria Isonzo during the summer of 2017, and towing it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. That said, it was obviously not as relaxing as towing a narrower caravan and I stuck mostly to motorways. Cheers.

  • @Bunce1949
    @Bunce1949 2 года назад

    Excellent unbiased review as always Andrew, but I wasn't impressed with the Coachman. Right from the first few seconds of the video, did you notice the lousy fit of the door on the gas bottle locker? As viewed from the front the right hand door had totally uneven shut lines. That's poor quality control for that price. The rear double bed is actually 1" narrower than the Bailey Phoenix+ 644 which I've been looking at. The Phoenix is half the Coachmans price! With a very small loading margin an 8ft wide body (great for narrow UK roads) and a huge weight and price, I'm not sure what the appeal is, especially when the Government are frowning on Diesel cars for us to tow with. You'll need a mighty beast to tow this caravan. I wonder how you will tow this when we are all forced to buy an electric car?

  • @hywel3143
    @hywel3143 2 года назад

    It's an attractive van, especially the lighting and ambiance. However, as you imply Andrew, the payload is surely too low for touring? Viable for use on a seasonal pitch in the UK if you brought extras by solo car maybe? The aircon unit and Alde heating are nice, but maybe Truma 6E without the aircon unit would have been more suitable, and would have released considerable extra payload...

    • @andrewjditton
      @andrewjditton  2 года назад +1

      I think you've hit the nail on the head, maybe the low payload is because it's aimed more at the seasonal pitch market. Cheers!

    The caravan for the person that simply has to have everything (note I didn’t say “has to have THE BEST”). Just doesn’t feel special enough for me. Nor homely enough. L shaped lounges do nothing for me and there doesn’t feel like there’s enough separation between kitchen and bedroom. Maybe if they flipped the bed to the other wall (like most other manufacturers do) it’d feel less ‘all in one’. Not for me I’m afraid I’ll stick with my 19 yr old Elddis for now with its 240kg payload.

  • @vicdunni

    Fab review ( as always)
    Really don’t rate the Lusso at all, agree very bad there are no soft close drawers. Hate the bed that side near the cooker, looks odd.
    L shape seating isn’t huge and 2 adults could not sit with feet up to watch tv and relax comfortably.
    Bathroom sink not practical, two tone wood ( cupboard doors in bedroom being a diff wood colour) i think looks cheap.
    Payload is awful, no split door, no room when bed pulled out…
    If we had that amount of money to spend on a caravan id a avoid Coachman.

    Actually, if you took half the LEDs out, it wouldn't look half as impressive. Maybe slightly over the top with them. Also, the sink. We have that sink in our Acadia. Terrible; it's a weird plastic that stains and gets engrained with soap etc, within a few weeks of use. Coachman are a bit like Audi. They trade on their name; but honestly, they run with the herd.
