Why does he need training for a topless hang glider if you already know how to fly?

we (learn) taking off from hills, so we have to learn cartowing/aerotowing

I learned footlaunch on hill; everybody I know trained on hills, all before topless gliders.
We were a towing club with our own payout winch, all XC pilots with mountain experience. We were in Tuskegee AL, at Moton Field. Tuskegee Airmen in our own way, we did a few hundred tows, with a perfect safety record.
Pilots in the Auburn area should comment here, let's connect!

Yeah…… cool place to truck tow…. is it a secret site?

Nailed the landing! So, what is this place? An abandoned airfield? And how does this tow work? The setup is like aero tow :) I do truck tows and that’s from the back of the truck. Is there a payout winch behind the car? Just before you released the tow rope was almost at 70 degrees angle, very steep. How high did you climb or what is the average for car tows? On my good truck tows I can get 1500 feet on a 3000 foot runway.

It does work same as your winch on truck I guess, just we use the cart.
We do tandems where the car is able to do Uturn and continue towing for second length of the runway.
I'd say it's about 1650 feet for one length of runway (1,5 mile)
And yes it's kinda practicing for first aerotow as well

And unfortunately the landing was too far from where I'd wanted, but there was some 0+ beeping on my vario so I did try some turns but pointless :-)

@@charliemotakpochop U-turn for 2nd leg! That sounds interesting. But I guess the runway is wide enough that the car can keep tension on the tow rope and keep pulling while the pilot flies and turns with it. So, on the 2nd leg more rope is added and you keep climbing?

@@charliemotakpochop I was at the flight park yesterday I normally go to in Virginia Blue Sky. Tow was crap, hardly 700 feet but from there worked my way and got to cloud base at 5700 feet. Flew around for 2 hours and then came back. It was nice.

@@BariFPV nice. I'm just about uploading video from yesterday. Also nice 2hrs flight :)
And you can see uturns in videos from mine tandem friends channel

The only towing I do or will ever do is aerotow. Winch and vehicle tow is way too scary for me.

static winch (tension controlled) is even nicer and smoother than AT
