- And we’re back!! For part two!!! Kimi says goodbye to Cal but ditches her own plans of returning home and instead returns to Catalina Island to do one more day of diving with Juan Aguilar. Moving in next door, Kimi is swept away by what travel should be- a true adventure, not just based on goals and plans but rather a celebration of what life brings you. Wonderful quality time, food and friendship is all a part of that. But will life bring Juan and Kimi a White Sea bass after all? Watch and see!

Kimi I am so happy you came to southern California and did some spearfishing in my back yard. The spearfishing here at SoCal is amazing . A few guys that I go spearfishing with are so good at catching white seabass they almost catch a few white seabass every time we go out and there anywhere from 50-65 lbs. Juan definitely has good skills to be able to catch the ghost in that clear of water . Great vid I can't wait for some more.

I met you on the dock after your trip with Mel out of Cabrillo and was talking to you for a few minutes. I was in my skipjack tied up on the main dock. Was a bit heartbroken after part one seeing that you came all this way and didn't get one but this was a nice surprise! Congratulations on getting to experience the seabass and hope you enjoyed my favorite place in the world!

So glad that u had this experience. I have followed your Ist season and of course all your historic first in diving. I had heard u would be making a season 2 and just wonder if that may occur. I found it the perfect balance of family, fishing, travel to Alaska. Just know if u every choose to go forward. I, for one will have a celebration. Such a strong, graceful soul and those around u allow us to see.

Love this video! Having grown up out there it’s so nice to see Catalina getting to be in the spotlight and shared with so many people. Personally, I probably would have avoided shooting that Sheepshead though, just because of how important they are in the ecosystem for helping preserve those beautiful kelp forests!

It’s interesting to me when you said calicos are hard to spear. I started spearfishing in SoCal when I was a teen and went quite a bit through my 20’s until life got in the way more. I’ve never had much issue getting calicos.
But, I took my gun to Hawaii once and couldn’t manage to get anything. I think I couldn’t figure out how to get close with no kelp to hide in! Gave me a lot of respect for spearfishing in the islands.

Omg I loved this and love this!!! I was getting so disheartened by not getting a WSB on my focused dives that I went on a Sepe rate dive just to get some Sargo, opal eye and calico. I was on point (no pun intended) with my shots, but listening to WSB croaking while doing it reminded how amazing it is to do what we do then be able to target a certain fish…just incredible. So, how was the day of sashimi…you didn’t comment on that! ;-)

Next time you come back to California if you go way up to Oxnard and give the channel islands a visit you will have a better chance at white seabass. You should try one of there sport boats out there.
