1st time visitor here. I watched your presentation to find out the degree of features available from the Amplifi for VPN tunneling and ACLs. I’m glad I did. The lack of MIMO support would explain the decreased speed in your home environment when compared to your TP link. I agree with your assessment of the ideal application for this product, which is wide area coverage and not maximum throughout. Which I think is generally true when dealing with mesh networks that have a wireless back haul. Excellent review! Subbed, and TY
I've had this product for about 6 months now and absolutely love it. I had amped wireless top end router before but didn't nearly have the distance CE this one has. I also have a lot of my band width still even at the furthest end of my house. I also have a detached garage and get good signal in the garage as well.
@@asdawesd790 it’s been fantastic. I have a 1gb internet and can get max speeds on my tablets and phones and hard wire my TVs. So the newer tablets get about 400mbps(max the tablet can download at) the phones sit at around 350mbps and my TVs stream 4k content regularly. I also have a lot of small smart home gadgets and the router handles it all. The only issue I have had is that it’s not a very open platform so if you want to tinker it’s not good for that. It also has a USB for NAS but it’s not unlocked still after years of owning it. I haven’t checked recently but as far as I know it’s not available.
thanks for the video! Question though - when you test the TP-link, did you leave it in the same place in the house the whole time? if so at some point, the signal woudln't be detectable / you need the mesh, right? you did say if you need the speeds - the tp link would be the way, but if you need coverage, the amplifi is the answer. whats your opinion of the amplifi vs. other mesh systems? and vs. pulling data cables to each access point around the house : ) ? I'm used to pulling data cables. the mesh relay method would slow down your connections with each hop to get back to the router. Does the app help you figure out where to place the access points? That's my issue, even with pulling cables. and with units plugging into wall outlets, you have them low and likely behind furniture : (
Thank you for this review. I was considering this product, until I saw this. My current google network box gives me much higher speeds all over my house, than this would. What I don't like about the google box, is that it limits you to 16 devices, and when you get close to that, performance is degraded noticeably. Thanks again.
Very good and informative. I have a few questions because of your awesome video. I am considering changing from 200 to 400mbps which according to your tests the Amplifi system would be just fine with. I have a Bitdefender box which is my concern. Where would I put the Bitdefender box. The box is my current router and is, in my opinion, the greatest security system I've ever had for a residence. However, I would like to continue to use the box for all my connections. I could see if I connected the modem to the bitdefender and the the bitdefender to the Amplifi system. However, I'm not sure (I"m asking bitdefender) if bitdefender can handle the increased speed. Also what the hell is MU MIMO, please explain this as you went over it really quick. I'm also curious about the different bands that can be used for different devices. Since I have a smart home with about 50 different devices I would want to isolate them on one channel I'd like to know if this is possible and still have use of say the 5g band width.
I didn't listen to the audio, just watched the video. I did not see you mention the NAT toggle which increases the wireless speed on the 5g setup to around 500 mbps (on my gig internet). Without that toggled, you are limited to mid 200s or lower. This is the best mesh network router (I purchased the bundle) that I have used thus far.
hey bro, love the video... do you have any suggestion for the wifi router that can connect up to 100 users ? we are going to do some big event which about 100 users use their smartphone to connect to our wifi to do something, but our plan does horrible after 50 user connect, the wifi won't connect anymore and we have use 3 CAP AC Wifi Router too... but still not work... i hope you can give me some advice for wifi router, thanks
I've been looking for a good solution for my parents-in-laws house when it comes to wifi coverage. They live in Brazil and the house is made of brick and concrete (all interior and exterior walls). Using one centrally located Linksys router isn't a good solution because it doesn't allow for good coverage. It is an older model by this point (installed a couple years ago) so would you recommend the Ubiquiti product or the TP-Link (completely understanding that you have no hands on experience with my parents-in-laws house lol). Just looking to give them better wifi coverage.
Wish Ubiquiti had a package that had 3 of the units similarly specc'd to the main router. Ubiquiti makes some of the absolute best wifi gear I've ever used barring Cisco, but there's little comparison in list prices for those brands. With that being said in this price range 100 up/down isn't going to cut it for their APs. I can get that cheaper grabbing three standard off the shelf routers and turning them into APs.
Question about upgrading. I have a lot of devices connected to my current WiFi. If I upgrade to a mesh or any other system can I use the same SSD name and wont have to reprogram all my devices to the new WiFi ? What’s the easiest way to go about it. ?
If that router does have AC and you did connect to it using AC, then those speeds are freaking terrible. Do you happen know know the cpu and memory in that?
You are always going to loose bandwidth on mesh because it needs to allocate bandwidth for the backbone of all the access points talking to each other. Unless you can hardwire your nodes to Ethernet like you can on the Google WiFi routers then you won't loose any bandwidth.
Shwt1me 818 if your ISP gives you X amount of bandwidth, a portion of that bandwidth needs to be fractioned off in a mesh system so that all the access points can communicate with each other so you aren't able to use the full amount of bandwidth your ISP gives you. You can overcome this if all your access points are hardlined because they can talk yo each other over the wire instead of wirelessly.
Your ISP doesn't give you the bandwidth, physics does. The base stations are using up wireless spectrum to get back to your ISP. It's only when it hits your main base station that your ISP comes into the equation.
this review is wrong. it should compare multiple devices on both routers. this is what make amplifi a choice. today we have in a hose at least a few laptops a few phones. here is where home routers are nightmare, but the amplifi shine.
Do you still use your TP-Link Archer C5400 as your main router, and if so, do you use the UniFi nanoHD access points as a way to extend the WiFi throughout your home? Have you ever tried that setup before? And if so, do they work well together?
I dodged a bullet, thx for showing how trashy this thing is. I have a nighthawk r7000(AC1900) & recently added WiFi security cameras on outside of my home... they keep losing connection. I need a router that can push further out. Your router seems legit.
If you buy two of these you will have to contact support and they will send you a custom firmware file so you can mesh them together. It's a piece of short sighted shit if you ask me.
Warning. Amplifi Ubiquiti won’t live up to their commitment. Since 2019 Amplifi has committed to replace a mesh router point which was faulty. They never did. Latest RMA 329500. Will never buy @AmpliFiHome @Ubiquiti #Ubiquiti #AmpliFiHome

Thanks for the review. I didn't expect the comparison with the TP Link router, but it was very insightful.
Great video Majestechs! You really put it thru it's paces. Cool tech
I Have had this Router for about 7 months now. and its The Best i've had.
You can use Teleport VPN with your Amplifihd..its Free now with Amplifihd update back in August..

Yes. I had nat enabled. Otherwise the speeds were cut in half
Love these vids! Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the review Chris.
Good review. I'm looking for a good wireless setup for my home. Thanks for sharing this one.

Great review.. Keep up the great work.
Does this system let you select side channels for 2.4 and 5ghz, including the radar bands for 5ghz?

You should also look at unifi from ubiquiti but keep in mind it's not as easy to configure as the amplifi hd
Good for ps4 gaming ?
So can I use this device at work like can I Bring this to work and use it to connect to my home network
Man dang .I then watch a few videos this is a great channel!
Thanks man. Thumbs up. Ordered
I definitely won't give up that tp-link
Ubiquiti Unifi UAP‑AC‑PRO with Ubiquiti EdgeRouter or Or Obi is the best way to go.
Wish Ubiquiti had a package that had 3 of the units similarly specc'd to the main router. good video. very helpful! thanks
Another awesome product video. 👌
What wireless band were you connecting to the Unifi router on ?
Question about upgrading. I have a lot of devices connected to my current WiFi. If I upgrade to a mesh or any other system can I use the same SSD name and wont have to reprogram all my devices to the new WiFi ? What’s the easiest way to go about it. ?
Yes. Just give it the same ssid and passphrase
Excellent review. Much appreciated.
Can the satellite units be used with a 220vac 50 hz power source?

Kyle Veatch thanks very useful information
Shwt1me 818 : I got orbi ac 3000 one router and 2 satellite every thing hard wired with netgears beta firmware.

How does it handle gaming?
How is the wired speed?
You need to make more videos!
They just need AmpliFi with PoE WAN port for their CPE, and we're set!
Right or a port on the satellite units that can do POE
Top notch review
Can it handle gaming?
i can get a set of these for 100$ still worth it in 2024?
It is unclear to me if you used the satellites with your Netgear router compared to satellites with the Amplifi base router.
Watching in 2019 with 8Mb DSL...
Your internet speed is epic....I'm jealous lol here I am with 400 mbps
Hahaha be happy... at night I get 5 mbps if im lucky

I’ve had this for a couple of years and I do not Recommend. Too slow not enough options in the configuration.
The made it in black, for a limited time, but the white is dated..
just purchase Google WiFi system on 3500 +sq ft: get 100 to 110 Mbps on every level, increase streaming speeds
Arrrrrghh. I am SO ENVIOUS of your GigaBit speeds.
Do you still use your TP-Link Archer C5400 as your main router, and if so, do you use the UniFi nanoHD access points as a way to extend the WiFi throughout your home? Have you ever tried that setup before? And if so, do they work well together?
Bro count yourself lucky with these speeds. In australia i am currently getting 3mbps. Thats not a typo.... 3!
I get 25 Mbps Up and down speeds in India
im getting .6 and but sometimes on a good day I see 1mbps woo go ADSL2+
@@mattymatt2323 Russia - 1000mbps 10$/month
damn
i dont think i can even get internet that is so slow.
Slowest i can buy is 25mbit iirc :/
Eero

Never use wifi, always hardline. Wireless isn't stable enough for much.

No, you CAN NOT mesh two kits by default. Dead end stupid
360p what is this!!
For some reason it's taking a while to render the 4k version. Sometimes it takes a while. Blame RUclips. lol
nice video but sorry disslike for advertising chinese router !!!
go back to school ..
dont give me wrong info even you get payd for it
