    well done, awesome box resto, thanks for sharing, such a simple circuit, & I like the schematic as it shows clearly how they used to tap the coil to tune (changing the inductance) rather than using fixed inductor & variable capacitance. This really is the simplest circuit as far as component count

    I had Philmore like this. I think it was green marbled plastic. 1957? I was around 10 years old. I remember hooking a transformer to a crystal output with an 8 Ohm speaker and I could hear the radio all the way down our hallway.

      I have another radio I'll be restoring sometime in the near future that uses that Beacon detector. I'll try to do that.
