If they had same design as penrose, their 3.5mm adc is quite mediocore and headphone ia designed for true wireless, so wireless will sound technically better than wired.
1) achieves hi res audio using bluetooth codec such as ldac, or yeah you can just use it wired (usb c). It should be hi-res audio in 3.5mm depending on what you plug it into. 2) I would just use it usb wired. I did try it on my desktop dac and amplifier it did improve some of the spatial 3d qualities but detail was slightly more precise but probably most hardcore people will be into it
So I have a big issue with this headset. Until I tick "disable all enhancements", the audio levels are horrible. Music sounds full and loud while games and Discord audio sound quiet and tinny. I checked all my settings in terms audio (chat vs speaker in Windows) and it was all set up correctly. After disabling audio enhancements everything became louder and clearer, but then I was unable to choose an EQ preset, and it still wasn't as loud or as clear as my Syn Max Air. It was just hands down the best of the bunch and I tried DACs from Steelseries, Creative, Epos, and even the USB sound cards from a couple headphones. Not to mention all kinds of cans. The ARK MK2 just sounded the best, no noise, no distortion or volume issues, it was clear and crispy. That said, currently game the Philips SHP9600MB's that came with a mic. They are open back and sound great, but one of the only types of cans I haven't tried are the planar magnetics. I wanted to try the Penrose when they came out, but the bugs and mic quality turned me off. How loud do they get in comparison to let's say headphones like the Sony XM5 or the Sennheiser Momentum 4 or similar ones? I'm kinda looking into those not only for the headset part but also majorly to use them as headphones due to the planar drivers. Just wondering how loud these get?
@Ryan Ho so I'm taking it as they get really loud. I'm usually a 80% volume listener (depending on the headphone even sometimes max volume) 😆 So if a headphone doesn't go above a certain volume they are boring to me and usually in the return to manufacturer bin. I had plenty of different headphones in the past and so far I only held on longer to the Technics A800, Technics AZ60, Sennheiser MW3, Sennheiser Momentum 3 (and I'm currently eyeballing the Momentum 4 but then came across the Audeze Maxwell...so I'm curious. I know the Sennheiser get loud enough for me. It pretty much comes down for me to if the Audeze get loud enough because I'm sure even tho the Sennheiser sound really good the Audeze could possibly sound better. And the mic quality to use them as a PC headset is a great bonus for business calls with like MS Team's etc. Not sure if they can compete in the phone call mic quality with the Sennheiser tho.

@james madison yes most Android phones have LDAC via Bluetooth. U gotta turn it on in the settings for some headphone models and for some it just activates on its own. I still have a S21 Ultra and all headphones I've used so far that have LDAC codec turned on automatically with exception of my Technics A800. I had to manually turn on LDAC on the phone.
@@ryanhostudio i just googled and read an article saying LDAC is not real high res. one of the statement mentioned, "LDAC simply isn’t capable of passing Hi-Res content unaltered, and falls far short of wired 24/96 equivalents."
Nova pro is plastic where this is metal. That's the main weight difference. Maxwell is far better sounding wireless and is able to produce a more natural variation of sound because of the bigger driver. Nova pros main advantages are simultaneous Bluetooth and wireless/wired functionality (maxwell can be connected to Bluetooth to recieve calls still and listen to media, but game audio will cut out) Nova pro also had interchangeable batteries and the ability to quickly switch between pc and console
@@B.trevetonthank you for this comment. Dose the noise cancellation make a difference in sound ?? Especially considering that the Maxwell doesn’t have it
@LordHiram I can't say much to that. If you live in a consistently noisy area it might be worth it. But the audeze will likely still have them beat in sound quality. ( nova pros still sound great by the way, when wired they can be tuned to sound awesome ) the only downside to the nova pro noise cancelation is that there is a separate emitter outside that main drivers that tends to rub against many people's ears depending on ear shape. Seems to be a pretty common complaint with most reviewers

Awesome headset but no 5.1 / 7.1 surround sound????? I currently have Orbit S specifically for this feature. for good sound imaging... Also awesome review keep it up!
5.1/7.1 surround sound in headphones is more of a gimmick than anything because in reality its a stereo output and there aren't 5 or 7 actual speakers physically surrounding you and a separate subwoofer. headphones with "7.1 surround sound" just basically use software to emulate a virtual effect. that's why the Xbox version includes a license for Dolby Atmos and PS uses Tempest 3D. Steelseries Sonar software is another option for getting spatial surround sound for a headset and its free
@@grisco93 Yes the 3D feature in the software was pointless. However that is under the "fist tab" and can be toggled (ON) or (OFF) separately from (Modes Tab) where (7.1 Channel) is listed making them two different features. The 7.1 feature alone in the Orbit S was one the best I have tested as I was actually able to audibly locate most targets in font and from the sides, and from "time to time" even from behind!!! So I cant honestly call the 7.1 feature a total gimmick...
@@TheSupercarKiller i understand you could "turn on" 7.1 but that doesn't turn the two speakers into 7+ a subwoofer. it just uses software to emulate the effect which was the reason i find it a bit gimmicky because there's software dedicated to virtual 7.1 (Dolby atmos, SS sonar, DTS:x). ive had a lot of high end gaming headsets myself and the surround sound options were just never good, i actually used Sonar on my Audeze Mobius and it just flat out blew away the surround sound from Audeze. so when gaming headsets say they're 7.1/5.1 i feel like its just a marketing move to drive up the price since its not necessary. that's just my guess as to why Audeze didn't waste time creating a surround sound algorithm which would have made the price point go over what they needed it to be at. just my two cents. cheers!
@@grisco93 Ahhh I see what you mean... I retested them using the 3.5 jack and the sound quality im hearing from the Cloud Orbit S was not because of the software but dew to the proprietary drivers they use. its such a leap forward in sound quality it had me thinking it was the software. 😂

Seems like the Maxwell fixed those issues, so now I might try them, but I'd definitely use them wired to my DAC.
should i go with these or nova pro wireless?
if your looking best sound quality maxwell if your looking for comfort and light weight than nova pro wireless
@@ryanhostudio thank you for your response. i think i will go with the maxwell. is there any clear difference between the ps and xbox version beside the console part?
the xbox comes with dolby atmos license but also cost more because of it. if your not using that go with ps version
@@ryanhostudio ok thank you so much for the info. keep the good stuff going!
I am Korean. Please understand even if my English is not good enough because I use a translator
I received a Maxwell, but when I start using it, it keeps turning off in less than 3 minutes The battery is 91%
It keeps turning off regardless of the connection
Is there a solution?
i would message audeze support i don’t have that issue
How loud do they get in comparison to let's say headphones like the Sony XM5 or the Sennheiser Momentum 4 or similar ones?
I'm kinda looking into those not only for the headset part but also majorly to use them as headphones due to the planar drivers. Just wondering how loud these get?
wireless mode i listen around 55%; at 100% they are sound like tiny speakers on my desk....i doubt anyone will need to get to 100%
@Ryan Ho so I'm taking it as they get really loud. I'm usually a 80% volume listener (depending on the headphone even sometimes max volume) 😆
So if a headphone doesn't go above a certain volume they are boring to me and usually in the return to manufacturer bin.
@@Knifes-and-Gear-Insights At least penrose was really loud headset
@JesukxD yeah I just heard that from somebody else. But he also said the Maxwell do not get as loud as the Penrose.
@@Knifes-and-Gear-Insights like its max volume is ridiculously loud i would never max it on my pc. It gets even louder if you plug it into usb wired mode too
what is the highest bit rate it can goes when you using 2.4ghz wireless?
tried finding exact bitrate but it doesnt cite it. But interesting enough the manual actually says it supports hi res audio using the wireless dongle which is interesting
@@ryanhostudio which is the highest bit rate you're able to use when it is in wireless mode? i actually pre ordered it because of the wireless hi res audio
it supports high res audio via bluetooth? i thought its only for wired usb and wired aux for high res audio
it support LDAC, which is hi-res audio. Many dacs and phones support transfer of LDAC. Unfortunately iphone isnt one of them haha
www.sony.net/Products/LDAC/
@@ryanhostudio oooh icic. i have a samsung s23 ultra. i guess that will support since its new. I am currently using the nova pro wireless and its boring in soundwise. Waiting for my maxwell to arrive to my distributor in Singapore.
I'm in the same situation @james Madison.
Does this headset work with Mac?
i don’t have a mac but it says it’s supported on there website
@@ryanhostudio thank you.
Does the PS5 one work with the PC too? I have heard the only difference is it doesn't come with Atmos like the Xbox one.
yeah i use it exclusively on PC works fine
@@ryanhostudio Awesome. Have been an Audeze fan for awhile and want to try some of the new stuff. Is it solid wireless or do you use it wired?
is this better than the nova pro wireless? i felt like this was very heavy headset compared to that .. but couldnt tell much between sound quality
Please compare these to the penrose!
They're better in about every single way except the fact that there's no simultaneous wireless and Bluetooth connection
@@Nick-tl7ts hey now, those fightin words. Jk I’ll
Have to test em out.
i did detail test them to hyperx cloud orbit s and the maxwell does sound slightly more detailed. wireless connection was solid only loss connection when i walked to far and around a wall
@@ryanhostudio gotcha! Just found your channel for the first time on my recommendations this morning! Great video!
@@djm24able the youtube algorithm must like me for once haha
about explosion ...bass.... ?
now that we have ability to EQ adding more bass at 150hz has helped the Maxwell get more explosive bass lol
@@ryanhostudio Do you have recommended eq setting to allow for thunderous bass that’s more impactful?
Great video mate, thank you for this. I wonder if there is any sort of advantage using it wired (3.5mm) over wireless. Stay safe
Yes always better audio wired. When wireless it downgrades audio a little.
it does sound more detailed wired. I am hardcore audiophile so it makes sense that i’m going to be using it plug in wired through usb c. You could also plug in 3.5mm and it should sound better depending on what dac amp you plug into.
I would just use it usb c wired if your worried about getting maximum sound quality and low latency
@@ryanhostudio I play only on PS5 and I have a Fosi Audio K5 Pro connected to it. It's fait DAC/AMP and should drive this headset, I'll be trying it wired and wireless. Thanks for the replies.
@@alexgmrs a dac/amp will make no difference with this headset. Even when using it wired everything still passes through the internal amp in the headset. It’s not the same as a basic set of unpowered headphones.
@@cha0ss0ldier-4 It makes sense, appreciate your input on this one. I'm excited to try this headset :)
Can the headphones be used via the 3.5mm jack without being power on?
Theyll work as normal wired headphones, unless your old phone or whatever has super weak DAC that cant power it to full volumes.
Needs to be powered on for all connection types. The FAQ on the Audeze website confirms 👍
@@WhiteHartMart Thanks.
@@ComplexAlpaca yeah its always powered on but since it has an 80 hour battery life it should last a long time even when plugged in 3.5mm
I was looking to for a new headset and a lot of youtubers talk about the Audeze Maxwell being the hot new kid on the block, but I eventually passed on that one and bought the Nova pro wireless that has way more features and I don't regret it.
thanks for sharing
Nova Pro wireless suck, I had them. Very mediocre audio.. annoying bump in the middle that touches your ear.. they sound basically the same as a Nova 7x for 150. I got the Audeze Maxwell and it's just another realm than the Nova pros.
Awesome headset but no 5.1 / 7.1 surround sound????? I currently have Orbit S specifically for this feature. for good sound imaging... Also awesome review keep it up!
they don’t have that apparently people thought it was confusing and under utilized lol
How high were you when making this?
not at all, maybe high on life since the maxwell was everything i been waiting for no cap

This thing is tm overhyped. At first i want to buy it. But the earpads attrackt swet af.
