I’m so happy this video was suggested to me. Living with less feels like peace. I can recall owning a 4. bedroom house with garage, in ground pool, garage, basement with a nice size yard. Something always needed to be cleaned/maintained . I am in the process of finding a shuttle bus to rehab and travel in. No longer having to consider collected stuff and where everything fits into my life is far more freeing than the items that were weighing me down. I found myself cutting out people/places and things that no longer were adding value to me and where I am headed. Living with less magically provides so much more. Thank you for sharing refreshing content that will benefit the masses.

Some problems I’ve run into are having to constantly declutter and go through things I own and I’ve forgotten that I even own them. And then having to reorganize and clean everything. It’s a never ending cycle
Embrace it. Yes, it is a never ending cycle as long as new things come into your life. Commit to everything having its home AND going back to it's place when done using it. Shift the unuseable stuff out faster rather than accumulating more which can get in the way. Commit to having empty space everywhere things are stored to keep it easy to clean and see what you do own. Is it a quantity problem? Then limit exposure to the new. Select your comfortable pace --- shop for clothing on your own timetable, who says you need a new swimsuit in the spring or sheets in january. Broaden your non consumer activities, make art, read library books, have friends in to chat. Share what you have that are nontangible: your attention, your empathy, your caring.

Knowing exactly what you have and dont have has been a huge benefit to me. Not having to search or wonder if you have something that'll work for a situation or where it's at. You know exactly what you have and everything you have serves a purpose and brings value to you.
The sentimental value one is so huge for a lot of people. When i started decluttering, this was the biggest hurdle I had to overcome. We trick ourselves into thinking that the object is valuable, when really it’s our memories that it’s tied to...but those memories are safe with you, nobody can ever take them away and you’ll still have them even when the object is gone
"What if I need this later?" is usually my hardest to overcome... I have no sentimental attachments. That is my wife's problem. If a dead person owned it, it must be precious, even if anyone else would see it as garbage.
“What if I need this later?” Was definitely a road block for me also. As you both navigate through this just keep in mind your why for starting and continue along this journey. That will help you!
When I first learned about minimalism, the sentimental value was a strong argument for having things laying around. But now as I´ve but more thought into it, I have a clearer and more rational perspective and realize that many of those "valuable" things that has been collecting dust might bring me the same value by taking a photo of it or simply getting rid of it.
From a womans perspective, I've definitely noticed a difference from "nothing to wear" because of a bunch of not me on sale chaos in my closet to I always have something to wear because what's in front of me makes sense. Plus all of my laundry can be washed in one cycle! Other than an occasional handwash only. Saves so much time.
Great points. #4, 5, and 6 are my triggers. I don’t care what others think, and I’m not a shopper. But stress, anxiety, and not feeling at peace in my own home? Yeah, that strikes a chord. When I was by myself, I was at peace. Now, with a family of packrats, stress is a daily occurrence.
Taking a few steps off this video today. Going through the closet and getting rid of a lot that I don’t need... this will help with the overwhelming I feel walking into the closet.. thank you
Fantastic videos Mr. Banks. Your confident, but not cocky, persona coupled with your soothing speaking pattern, makes it easy to hear not just listen. (White Men Can't Jump reference.)
Yes, I had that exact moment where I looked in a drawer to find I already had an item I had just purchased! Now that I've been on my decluttering journey for awhile everything has a place and I have a much better idea of what I own.
Such a great well spoken video. My goal for tomorrow is to let go of stuff I have been saving just in case I need it down the road. Looking at your place in the background it just looked so peaceful compared to mine. Thanks, Mike
Dreading moving house! I remember the first time I moved in with a girlfriend a few years ago. I filled a huge van with everything I owned. It took a whole afternoon. That was crazy. A year ago I emigrated from the UK to South Korea with just a backpack and a suitcase. I have a little more now, but still not more than 2 suitcases worth. I'm probably going to move to another part of South Korea next year, and I know that I can probably do it on the bus, in one trip. Life is so much easier!

Problem #11: Does anything ever wear out? By having to much, do you ever use one item to the point that you wear it out and really get the use out of owning it?

The benefits of owning less continue popping up over time. I only wish I had done this years ago. I’m happy so many young people value many other things that aren’t material. Wonderful video 💗
Concise. Organized. Engaging. Wisdom-filled. Encouraging. Empathetic. Perfect Delivery. Entertaining. Beneficial. Common sense aesthetic. Intuitively stated. Well Done! You are helping millions of people with your content 😊😁 I LOVED this, and I agree with this whole-heartedly!
I buy the same exact item for fear that someday it will need to be replaced. My scarcity mindset has me thinking I “needed” more. Thoughts like, “What if I don’t find the same one? Or it is discontinued?” Things are easily replaced even if it’s not exactly the same. There is MORE THAN ENOUGH. I grew up poor and always dreamed of having a large closet full of clothes I could choose from. I took better care of my things as a child, bc I didn’t have much. I miss how I used to be!
RUclips recommended this to me and I’m so glad that it did because you have an eloquent way of speaking about minimalism and I am here for it. SUBSCRIBED!

I enjoy your content, this is my third video I've viewed so far...the sentimental pieces I have are non negotiable not getting rid of those. What is really cluttering are paperwork and items that I need to be sold online as well as things to be donated overseas that will much appreciated. It's just an eyesore taking up space in my place. Your closet is really nice, would love to see your technique to folding your shirts and rationalizing pieces you actually get rid of. I have never seen a black guy on RUclips have that type of video.
I’m really glad you enjoyed this Muhammad! This journey requires a mindset shift and I want to help others see the other side. Keep growing on your journey my friend!
Wow so insightful. Thank you for sharing, as I am in transition to being a minimalist as well. I’ve been giving away things slowly.. ie tv, furniture, clothes. So yea, thank you. Been watching a few stories like yours, and you are the 2nd person that has added value to the theory of minimizing wants vs necessities. Wow! Just wow.
I love how you connect the inner emptiness with trying to fill it with "stuff". So many of us do this with food, drink, drugs, etc. I loved watching your original decluttering video, to see how far you've come. You're transforming before our eyes! Seeking the lasting intangible over the much less important or fulfilling materialistic. Thank you!

I am feeling exactly what you said, specially overwhelmed and not in piece. I do not intend to became a minimalist but definitely owning less, closer to having only what I need. I already sold a full luggage of excessive items and it feels so good. Thanks for the video. Was enjoyed in Brazil ✌️
One of your best videos so far, Ronald! Keep 'em coming! And please stay safe and healthy amidst this Corona Virus phenomenon. God bless! 😊🙏💪👌🇺🇸🇵🇭
I am definitely staying healthy and safe Katrina! Thank you for your blessings! You please do the same! And thank you for your kind words! I really appreciate it and I’m glad you’re enjoying my content!
Great video Ronald - very informative, logical and you have a great speaking voice
Thank you Thomas!
You are seriously helping us fight bad tendencies, from within and without - come to think of it, it's hard to separate envy and consumerism. Your videos have real lasting value. Thank you.
You came at the perfect time in my life - I have my list of video games I want (up until Ps4) & now I have my list of movies (300 not including 3Ds - still reviewing) before I watched you I've been very intentional & you're just reinforcing my beliefs 👌✨
Your voice is so soft and so relaxing to listen to, kind of minimalistic🤗 great video!
When one can share a thought, an idea, clearly and directly...
You have and hold someone's attention.
Yes, there are a lot of good videos out here on minimalism but none better...
Inspiring, thank you.
Steve Corbett I appreciate your kind words, thank you! I’m also really happy that you’re enjoying my content and feel inspired. Keep growing on your journey!
I really enjoy, appreciate and agree with your message. Thank you for being transparent and insightful.
I’m happy this resonated with you my friend! Keep growing on your journey!
Problem #11: Does anything ever wear out? By having to much, do you ever use one item to the point that you wear it out and really get the use out of owning it?
Dear women of the world don't take the rifd chip. It is not mandatory. You take it and you are going to grow weak, unable to control yourself and become a zombie. Don't trust the celebrities. Don't take the temporary x mark either. It's bad for you.
The benefits of owning less continue popping up over time. I only wish I had done this years ago. I’m happy so many young people value many other things that aren’t material. Wonderful video 💗
Best video yet on Minimalism!!! Your a sweet heart such a joy to watch. God Bless!!
I agree and I want to continue the conversation with you
Concise. Organized. Engaging. Wisdom-filled. Encouraging. Empathetic. Perfect Delivery. Entertaining. Beneficial. Common sense aesthetic. Intuitively stated.
Well Done! You are helping millions of people with your content 😊😁 I LOVED this, and I agree with this whole-heartedly!
Well said. :)
Comparison is the greatest thief of joy... Imo a simple life leads to a more fulfilling life ✨
You’re very articulate man. Probably the best minimalist RUclipsr when it comes to the real philosophy of the practise. Good work man 👊
Love your channel, I am downsizing and finding getting rid of things and less clutter makes me less anxious. I love the tidy ness of fewer things .
I like the crisp clean decor of your living room!
RUclips recommended this to me and I’m so glad that it did because you have an eloquent way of speaking about minimalism and I am here for it. SUBSCRIBED!

You sir, are a solar and a gentleman. I love this.
Thank you for sharing your story and intentional journey of living with less!
Like your presentation style. Short and to the point. No extra fluff, not long draw out. I’m a subscriber. Looking to start this journey of freeing my life from stuff. Thank for the suggestions and thoughts to mediate/reflect.
You’re welcome. I’m excited for you as you get started. Keep growing!
I love all these minimalisim videos but imma need a wave video from you. Your waves are fire bro
Great advice. Thank you 🙏
I really love your videos ! Simple and straight forward but though through videos on simplicity - and love your calm and positive vibe :)
Your channel is very inspiring, subscribed last week, you are so clear and precise, i have to admit i had binge watched your videos, and i love your poetry as well, keep up the great work, from a retired UK citizen lol x
Yass!! Learning a lot. New here. Lovin the video

Yet another amazing video. Not a lot of people have that perspective.
I’m really glad you enjoyed this Muhammad! This journey requires a mindset shift and I want to help others see the other side. Keep growing on your journey my friend!

Poj Mahal I’m really glad that you enjoyed this Poj! Keep growing and learning on your journey!
Wow! Just wow.
This was helpful and calming to watch. Thank you for making this video!
Thank you!
Great content, thanks for sharing.
Loving your channel man!
Thank you Artur! Keep growing on your journey!
Hey Ronald - I was super inspired by this video since the benefits you bring up are really similar to the benefits of decluttering your to do list - so I made a "10 problems solved by doing less" version of the video and gave you credit, of course :)
Your videos are like free therapy
Clear ideas presented concisely, positive energy.. Like the vibe.. Appreciate the message.. New sub 👍
So so glad to have came across your channel, love and appreciate the advice and can't wait to see more! New subscriber!
great thoughtful piece
This video was so helpful! Thank you.
I’m glad you enjoyed this!!
I am going to start now , even though I don’t own much but clothes right now and still live with parents ,, that will make it easier in the long run once I get my own place. I do feel overwhelmed with picking an outfit sometimes lol
Lauryn Lavish I’m happy that you’re feeling motivated to get started on your on journey. I’m excited for you! If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask. Keep growing!
Thank you so much for this.
Hi Ronald!
You have come a long way in a short time since I joined you several months ago.
I'm so happy for you that I have to say it again.
I love your space.
Thanks for continuing to inspire me to declutter my space.
I have been more successful in de cluttering various aspects of my personal life.
It is taking me quite a bit longer to minimize my space.
But I am determined to live more minimally.
Peace to you my brother.
Thank you Jen and I’m excited for your journey as well. If it takes you a little longer thats ok. As long as you’re enjoying the process and learning more about you as you go, that’s all that matters. Keep growing!
Banks was my maiden name . In the past I have bought a very similar item of clothing only to find I already had one , which is crazy
