Sometimes with these cheap value covers i like to take a belt sander to the gasket surface to ensure its even. Just touching it to the sander shows the lows.
Ya these things had alot of lows. I place a flashlight inside and put the valve cover on a flat surface and found light shining through on almost every corner even with the gasket under it. I ended up buying new cast valve covers
@@TonyTheTechnician these studs are hard to find.. If I order them, they won’t arrive until next week. I’ll be out of town by then for 3 months! I’m concerned because we got the right side on just barely but the left side was a bitch. We screwed on the cap without the hose and panel. Now the check engine light is on. It’s throwing codes because air must be getting inside?
Tony who made your valve covers bud and where did you get them from? i have a reason for asking you this. i may have a answer for you on why they leaked in the 1st place
Ya I can't remember who the maker was but they are garbage. The welds by the corner are causing an unflush surface and I could see small cracks in them. They are gone now. I picked up newer better valve covers
@WOLFMANmike65 I don't know. I think youtube is messing with me the last like 3 days. I get notifications that you commented and I can read them as a notification but as soon as I click on the comment. It says it no longer exists
@WOLFMANmike65 this app has really been irritating me the last few days. I could only read the first part of the comment since it's like a preview. I saw you had assult valve covers? That has to be what mine were. What did you end up doing with yours?
@@TonyTheTechnician So I used the same fel pro blues and the stud kit but i ended up buying Edlebrock Valve covers made in USA and their PCV breather valve and it fixed everything

@TheseBygones weird. I've never had an issue with these gaskets. I prefer these gaskets over any other I've used. I would double check the valve covers and the head. Have you tried rotating the valve cover gasket? If it still leaks in the same spot it's not the gasket.
@@TonyTheTechnician people are trying to say my heads are warped when they are not. i rotated the gasket torqued down the stud nuts and everything and it still leaks im just screwed at this point and its my only vehicle
@TheseBygones if you rotated the gasket and it still leaks in the same spot then it is either your head surface or your valve cover. Start with replacing the valve cover with a quality set. It's more common for valve covers to become warped. The car will be fine even if it's leaking just make sure to keep the oil at the proper level until you can get it sealed
This engine is so organized. So much room to work. My 2000 Dakota is a cramped nightmare
Ya I tried to keep as clean as I could.
Hello again Tony
Thank you for another Great Video 👍 Nicely, done Brother. She's looking good 👍 Again thank you
Thank you. Ya just took it for a drive today again after replacing the fuel pump and tank. So far so good. Thanks for watching

Not enough thread is what’s happening now with my 1985 Corvette. Will these studs work ?
Ya I got longer studs and put localite on them so you can set them at whatever height you need

Do you have the link to the set of gaskets?

When I install my felpro gasket will I have to put silicone on the gasket or should I just slap them on and run it
For valve cover gaskets I wouldn't use any. Once I got new valve covers with these felpro gaskets they sealed perfectly
I haven’t had good luck with “fail pro” gaskets
Ive Had these on about 2 months now they have been great. But my main issue turned out to be bad valve covers actually.

Check your valve covers. That's what my end result was. Poor welds and the flanges were not straight
