Despite being a part of jevils theme, i think what makes this segment so good for spamton is how it represents clarity. This entire section (at least to me) sounds like it's spamton temporary regaining his sanity and screaming out only for his broken mind (the glitching vocals in back) to slowly come back to consume his mind
Another example of Toby's masterful usage of leitmotifs He doubled up this time too with not only bringing in jevils theme signifying the link between them as secret bosses But he also brings metaton neo in to show the link that spamton is indeed the same type of neo
I like the interpretation that using part of Jevils theme here represents some form of Clarity about the reality they're both video game characters, or his desire to break free of it
The entire song was the good part, this is one of the few songs that doesn't have any parts that are better than the others and all can be enjoyed equally
if he managed to get a lightners soul, i could totally see him being capable of levelling the town, the NEO suit has a ton of firepower already, considering determination allows for dark worlds to cross over into the real world, i could easily see spamton being able to crossover with the neo suit
honestly this part seems less like "jevils theme" and more like a "freedom motif", notice how in both of their boss themes the motif literally changes the entire song, instruments and all, jevils being much less obvious because it takes up more of the song (around 40 seconds) while spamtons is just an incredible 20 seconds of pure madness, i feel like if there ever is a gaster fight we will hear the entire theme of it.
it’s interesting that jevil’s theme was originally heartache, as toby stated in an interview with famitsu iirc. i think that says a lot about the significance of the motif, i think we’ll see it more down the line too
I don't think so at all. If what you said was true then it wouldn't be in the storyline for him to die. I'm gonna copy paste my theory 'cause y'all got it all wrong: The part from 00:07-00:33 is actually the worst part of the song. It's not even an upbeat part of the song at all. The melody is essentially saying that even after being an angel and all it is in the plot for him to die anyway. Let me share my theory, "Gaster" is supposed to be Tony fox or whoever the fuck is Mike. Toby fox needs characters and plots so the story of deltarune continues and finishes, so he "grabbed"/created the character of Spamton and lead the character to his demise. It's essentially saying (the melody) that even after being an angel of death and being more freer than before, it is in the plotline for him to die. I've made a much better and complete extended mix of this track.
Remember that Circus and Dialtone ALSO use this motif. So it’s just the theme associated with these secret boss characters. It’s even more freak my when you realize that they were not only ones who may have meant Gaster…but they’re also the most human-like in their designs via what they’re based on; joker card and Jack in the box for Jevil (and the court jester) and a ventriloquist dummy and mail man/sales man for Spamton (he said he was the email guy and “Spamton” is an anagram for “Postman”
This is the main reason I listen to this song almost on the daily (and might animate to it who knows?). Seriously, I've listened to this song roughly a dozen times (no exaggeration) during class whilst working on art (that I have small time-slots dedicated to, mind you) and I only beat Spamton Neo exactly a month ago (which is when I started blasted his theme at almost every chance I got). (it's amazing how I shifted from being really freaked out by Spamton to then be really invested and sympathetic towards him through one optional fight that I actually missed on my first play through because I saved at the freaking castle town ]: )
Spamton always freaked me out, but I was impressed by his determination, too. And when he finally got the [[Power of NEO]] his second thought, after freedom, was to have Kris ascend to H E A V E N with him. It felt like there was some seed of a good person deep down - to me his theme doesn't even sound like a villain's theme either. It sounds desperate but determined, a mix of raucous revelry in the smooth taste of NEO and terror at the possibility that perhaps, perhaps, he may never be free.
Whole song was dope, but the best parts are this one and the ending when it changes key and the melody of "Power of NEO" is trying to come through even with accurate soundfonts. Love this soundtrack
I fucking love this moment because of the peculiar cacophony. I imagine this scene as the characters helplessly fend off spamton patterns as he circles around them on a string and fires a cannon, at which point the "power of neo" theme shows the power from the spamton, and "the world revolving" its madness. And when he starts to say something, as if it is not he who says it, but someone says this instead of him.
The unity between character and music wit spamton is so fuckin genius. Hes a character who can't even speak with his own words and to have the theme of the time he finally gets thrown a bone just be a mashup of like 6 other themes is so perfect when you think about how his fight ends. He was almost a true hero, but never really does get to see the light.
It's heavily accepted that instead of it being a "Jevil's Theme" It's instead the Theme for any of the Secret Bossess, Jevil just happens to be the first LOL
One of the things I love about Toby is that even if he makes like a mashup of a lot of motifs, it still will sound new because apparently his motifs mixing are TRULY *H E A V E N* Toby mixed a boatload of motifs like Bad Apple (Yes, The one from Touhou), Power Of NEO, THE WORLD REVOLVING, Battle Against a True Hero, Dummy and his normal theme motif which is NOW'S YOUR CHANCE TO BE into this single song. I really miss not being able to hear the lyrics during the "answer the phone" segment and thinking it was just...well, garbage noise. As cool as it is that they're there, knowing what he says makes it hard to go back.
If you mean why they mention it on the game, it's the date the Big Shot soda commercial was released, that's also connected with the Mike stuff, as the actor that appears in the commercials is named Mike.
0:07 is truly the best part for me, the rest was a banger, yes. But when you read his dialogue about not wanting to be a puppet or controlled anymore, damn, that part slaps.

Damn boi, that Godzilla nes reference
Is that a Godzilla NES Creepypasta reference I see?
You forgot the ending of "Dummy!" in the first time it played, and just added the beginning of it slightly beforehand. (I've never noticed the beginning leitmotif, either)
He is finally not just a Puppet ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!
"I think he's coming for me, answer the phone
I can't explain until you're all alone
He pulls the strings to make them ring
Please tell me what you're really selling.
I think he's coming for me, answer the phone
I can't explain until you're all alone
He pulls the strings
He pulls the strings
To tell you you're not
a BIG SHOT!"
(Could totally be wrong)
I think its
“it pulls the strings”
And the other part is
“Tell you what you’re a big shot” or something like that
@@Wassuuppbitches could be. Hard to hear.
I think its
I think he's coming for me please answer the phone
I can't explain till your all alone
Pull the strings and make them ring
Until your heart starts to break up
I think he's coming for me please answer the phone
I can't explain till your all alone
Pull the strings
Pull the strings

I think he's coming for me, answer the phone. I can't explain until you're all alone. It pulls the strings, it pulls the strings and tell me what you're really s(B)e(I)l(G)l(S)i(H)n(O)g(T)!
