😂🤣😅 Pissed myself laughing when I saw Matts comment. He has a way with words being from up north. I had a play with it today and it's mega, no flex at all and is crying out of a rubber band on the top platen wheel as well. I'm really impressed so far, now I just need to practice and figure out how to use it properly 👍
Hi I was watching your video on the English wheel and you was having a problem as we all do with with box section Of the weld seem in the tube until I watched a video from fireball tools he has a video tips and tricks with box section and he shows you with just some thread bar and some pieces of metal it cuts the weld off from the inside and trust me it work I use it all the time the video will show you way better than I can explain and once you have watched it your kick yourself like I did 👍👍
Excellent work there Quicky, great attention to detail in the build and well documented too, refreshing to see a fella who knows what he's doing sharing his knowledge with the masses! Top bloke
Great vid Quicky. Urchfab is an insanely talented fabricator, I've been following him since he started the mongrel build. The channel is getting better with every episode. Keep it up mate. Sherman brilliant name. Carry on.
Nice work. I have a small, inexpensive, English wheel they call a benchtop model. I've improved it somewhat, but I know I'll need a full size one to complete my metal shaping project. I'm on a budget too. Rather than get a cheap, larger one and rework it, I'm going to do as you've done - buy quality wheels and anvils and make the frame myself. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you for the comment Lonnie and it's really worth having a go. The only advice I would offer is to take your time to make sure you get it square and level. Best if luck and I'd love to see how it comes out 👍
It's going to be a lack of skill from this point out as I've never used one, but it's an art I need to learn if I'm going to be building tanks etc... 👍
Really enjoyed watching this vid. Thanks for building your own wheel, Looing forward to seeing the plans.. I have the gear but no idea, not great at welding but I got a descent welder and I'd love to have a go at making my own aswell. Can't wait to see how you get on using it to make the seat hump.
Was looking at the same set not so long ago seeing the prices of quality ones. I'll be making my own next year but from 100mm box sections that are leftovers from other project. Cheers for the video, really enjoyed it.
Nice one, they're really good anvils and top wheel. The frame is stiff as anything and works with 2mm cold rolled steel without issue, so anything stiffer may be overkill, but if you've already got the box section, why not use it? Best of luck and would be interested to see how you get on with it 👍
File test the wheels , ie if a file can bite in they are not hardened the entire point of tool steel is its only hard after being heat treated ( EN9 is the low end of of tool steels ) would be interesting to know if that large wheel has been hardened as most machinists dont have a clue ( im a blacksmith lol.......cos even welders need heroes !!! )
A Great video for newbies in how to fabricat a welded square frame,I thought you was gonna stick weld it remember you only make some tool's once in your life👍
Thank you Sean. It worked out really good in the end and having played with it a little today it'll more than just get the job done. Very pleased with Sherman 👍
@@QuickBikes Be careful with your mitts Sherman will bite ,you can use edge of bottom dies by put a strip of steel under one side of shaft use it to form beads and edges not just the middle of the die .👍
I had a play with it today and it works really well. I just have to get my head around where the stretched metal ends up and what that does to the curve... Tricky 🤔
Ok , I just finished watching your video . Very nice job and you should be proud of your work . I've gone ahead and subscibed and look forward to more . P.S. Building tool's is alway's more fullfilling than just throwing money at other's for something you can do yourself . Keep up the great work .
Does Sherman play music like the rest of your tools? Gonna have to get some like yours, mine all make a hell of a racket! Nice job on the wheeling machine! Thanks!
You should stick the plans on eBay, missing a trick there 🤣🤣🤣. What a brilliant build. Just wondering if you are going to make a rack to go across the top for the rest of the anvils. Seems an obvious addition.
Yes I probably will do as its an obvious addition and keeps them safely out the way. I'm probably going to add a PayPal link when I post the plans and if anybody wants to make a donation for them they can... It will be a purely voluntary thing though 👍
